Programming Recipes

1. Gather students, and give each student a piece of blank paper and a marker

2. Say “If you had to trade your name in for a single word that represents your ide-

al self what would that word be”

3. Ask each student to write down his or her “one word” onto the sheet of paper

4. Gather the sheets and make them into a bulletin board (a passive program)

5. Without knowing which student wrote which word, get enough sheets of blank

paper to give 1 to each student again

6. On each sheet write “You are awesome! I’m glad you’re on my floor because

you’re (insert one positive word that describes the student)”

7. For students who have shown an interest in getting involved in Housing/

Residence Life, or who you think would be a great addition to the team, write the

housing website on the back of the sheet.

Programming Recipes

Give every student a piece of cookie and Icing and ask

them to write a word on the cookie .The word can be

anything that has been said to them that might have

hurt them or something they hear being said on a daily

basis that makes them cringe. Once they have all shared

their words and why it is inappropriate to use them, the

students eat their words.

shows that when students are engaged with the greater community they

feel less homesick and have a greater sense of belonging!

supervised but the one and only Jeck Baconga. You

can find this team working together to save cats from

trees and taking long walks on the beach.
