CHAPEL MISSION PROJECT – Hearts for Jesus – January-March

Our Hearts for Jesus project these next few months will be focusing on

foster children. The funds we raise through our chapel offerings will go

towards purchasing duffel bags for these children so they do not need to

carry their belongings around in garbage bags.

Currently, Michigan has over 13,000 children in foster care, and 1,800 waiting for forever families. Children

are placed in foster care after other interventions have failed, but generally are removed from their family's

home as a result of abuse, neglect, and violence. Children in foster care, on average, remain in "the system"

for two years before permanency is determined (ie. either reunited with family or rights terminated and

available for adoption). – Wellspring website

Look for further information about our chapel project in future Charger Chatters.

IMMANUEL STUDENTS FEATURED IN ART SHOW

The Scholastics Art and Writing Awards is a prestigious national level program for artists and writers in 7th – 12th grade. For our Thumb Area of Michigan, over 2,600 pieces of artwork were entered for the jurying process. From that huge amount, only 575 were accepted into the show. Immanuel artists Joshua Cundy, Sydney Hofmeister and Jake Anarygyros received Honorable Mentions for their drawings! These three artists are part of the top 20% of Huron, Lapeer, Macomb, Sanilac & St. Clair Counties. The show will run at the Lorenzo Cultural Center, Hall Road and Garfield Road, from Feb. 1st through Feb. 16th. Wed. – Sat. 10 to 4pm, Sunday 1-4pm. Please take an hour to stroll through the incredible display of artwork. And please see our Immanuel Artists’ work in person. It is important to see it in a context. This show will impress and inspire you. In all other competing schools, 7th – 12th grade Art is a 5 day a week program, with 55 minute class times, running a full semester or full school year. Immanuel, we rocked it this year! Mrs. Borowski is so proud of the kids who stepped up to enter their work, based on these facts alone. The level of talent in these Immanuel students is only slightly surpassed by their dedication. There are more shows and opportunities coming up, and Mrs. Borowski will keep you all notified of them. For the complete list of winning artists and schools, go to this link. http://www.collegeforcreativestudies.edu/assets/files/d6/winning-listforwebmi0022016.pdf
