    The avocado is .idely considered a vegeta/le, since it is commonly used in salads+

    "nterestingly enough, the fruit .as originally called ahuacatl /y the A9tecs of ancient

    $e3ico, the fruit later /ecame 0no.n as aguacate /y the panish in the ):th century and

    nic0named the ;alligator pear< /y English colonists .ho mista0enly su/stituted ;alligator< for

    aguacate and added ;pear< for the fruit1s shape+ The term aguacate eventually evolved into

    avocado /y Americans .ho could not pronounce the panish term+ The avocado plant gro.s

    really .ell in .arm .eather .ith tropical or su/tropical climates+ The flo.ers .hen in /loom are

    very sensitive to very lo. temperature and free9ing conditions+ There are three 0no.n varieties2

    namely the $e3ican, *uatemalan and the =est "ndian types+ Each of the three varieties thrives

    and gro.s really .ell under different conditions+ The $e3ican types flourish in $editerranean

    climate and are native to dry su/tropical plateaus+ The *uatemalan types are native to cool, high

    altitude tropics .hile the =est "ndian variety thrive in humid and tropical climates+

    Avocados are tropical fruits that are most a/undant during the month of April up to

    eptem/er+ Avocados are also used rarely for ma0ing ca0es and its processing and use is #uite

    limited+ The fruit is usually eaten ra. or .ith mil0 and sugar+ "t is never coo0ed /ecause the

    avocado /ecomes /itter .hen su/>ected to heat, thus the researcher decided to ma0e a research

    Avocados are so versatile and healthy that their uses are limited only /y the imagination of the

    user+ They contain oleic acid .hich is a monounsaturated fat+ The fat content of avocados gives it

    uni#ue te3ture and properties .hich allo. you use it as a fat+ "ts mild and mello. flavor is a

    great complement for /older flavors+

    Avocado /utter is fantastic as a topping for stea0, /ruschetta, or even on your %T+ ust mi3 a
