Remove the stock Vanagon LP tank. Be sure to keep the 4 nuts and washers that hold the tank in place. They will need to be re-used with your new propane tank. The splitter or “T” block that is attached to the stock regulator will need to be removed and retained as well. 2. Steps 2 and 3 are optional, yet STRONGLY STRONGLY STRONGLY STRONGLY SUGGESTED SUGGESTED SUGGESTED SUGGESTED. This will only be required on vans with A/C. Remove the white plastic A/C line mounting clamp closest to the rear of the vehicle and cut off the stud to which the clamp was attached using bolt cutters or a rotary tool. 3. Relocate the white plastic A/C line clamp approximately 5” toward the rear of the van, and reinstall the clamp (as shown in the pictures to the right) by using the plastic spacer, self-drilling screw, and small washer provided in your kit. This is to allow easier access to the mounting stud, which is even harder to get to when the larger tank is installed. 4. While the tank is out, drill a 3/16” hole in the inside of the outer frame rail (as shown in the picture to the right). The hole location should be close to the position shown in the picture but doesn’t have to be exact. This hole will be used for an adel clamp to support the rubber hose after the tank is installed. INSTALLATIONINSTALLATIONINSTALLATIONINSTALLATION 1. Remove the stock Vanagon LP tank. Be sure to keep the 4 nuts and washers that hold the tank

in place. They will need to be re-used with your new propane tank. The splitter or “T” block that is attached to the stock regulator will need to be removed and retained as well.

2. Steps 2 and 3 are optional, yet STRONGLY STRONGLY STRONGLY STRONGLY SUGGESTEDSUGGESTEDSUGGESTEDSUGGESTED. This will only be required on vans with A/C. Remove the white plastic A/C line mounting clamp closest to the rear of the vehicle and cut off the stud to which the clamp was attached using bolt cutters or a rotary tool.

3. Relocate the white plastic A/C line clamp

approximately 5” toward the rear of the van, and reinstall the clamp (as shown in the pictures to the right) by using the plastic spacer, self-drilling screw, and small washer provided in your kit. This is to allow easier access to the mounting stud, which is even harder to get to when the larger tank is installed.

5. Install the front tank support bracket (the shorter, flat one) with the 90-degree leg toward the center of the vehicle (as shown in the pictures below). Use the original nuts and washers to secure it into place. The white plastic A/C hose bracket toward the front of the vehicle may need to be temporarily removed to gain access to the studs on which the front bracket mounts.

6. Slip the rear tank support bracket around the tank and lift the tank into place, resting the lip of

the tank on top of the front bracket. With the rear of the tank supported, loosely bolt the rear bracket into place using the original nuts and washers.

7. The tank can then be bolted to the front bracket using the 10mm bolts, lock nuts, and washers

provided. Finish tightening all mounting bolts.

8. Assemble the brass fittings, regulator, and hose included in the kit by following the diagram below. Be sure to use an appropriate sealant (PTFE plumbers tape or equivalent) at all brass pipe fitting junctions to prevent leaks. Note: The adaptor fitting that connects the hose to the “T” block should be attached to the block first and then the hose attached to the adaptor when installing the completed assembly.

9. Install the completed assembly onto the LP tank’s outlet valve as shown in the picture below and connect the hose to the “T” fitting adaptor. NOTE: NOTE: NOTE: NOTE: The threads on the POL fitting that mate with the LP tank’s outlet valve have left hand threads.

10. Wrap the supplied adel clamp around the black LP tank hose, and attach the adel clamp

where the hole from step 3 is located using the supplied #14 hex head screw. The easiest way to do this step is to use a ¼” socket wrench with an 8mm socket.

11. Install the LP Tank Level Sensor by snapping it onto the location shown in the picture below.

The wires are unused in this application (for now) so just secure them out of the way. We may offer an interior readout in the future, so you may not want to cut these wires.

12. Test for leaks using a solution of soapy water sprayed onto each junction.
