WELCOME/PHILOSOPHY
The staff of the VIP Village and its satellite campus’ welcomes you and
your children to the South Bay Union School District Preschool
Programs. The Preschool Program has the philosophy that each child is a
unique and capable individual. We strive to provide a program which
fosters creativity and encourages curiosity and love of learning. Our
program allows for optimum growth and development in the following
areas: Social-Emotional, Oral Language, Physical, Self-help/Hygiene,
Fine Motor, Creativity, and Cognitive Skills. These areas are addressed
in a positive learning environment which promotes feelings of self-worth
and success. We also offer art, music, dramatic play activities, computer
programs, parent education, and monthly family events.
Communication is a vital part of our Preschool Program. You will
receive newsletters, classroom notices, and phone calls to inform you of
activities and events. Should you have a concern regarding your child,
please make an appointment to conference with your child’s teacher, or
Program Director. We will be happy to work with you to ensure a
positive educational experience for your child and for you.
The South Bay Union School District Preschool programs provide
services to eligible children regardless of gender, race, religion, or
ethnicity. Our program serves children with Individual Eduacation Plans
(IEP). Students are placed in the least restrictive environment. A
minimum of 10% of our students are on IEPs. No program is used, in
whole or in part, for religious worship or instruction. Programs are
licensed through the California Department of Social Services,
Community Care Licensing and adhere to all quality standards required
by the California Department of Education, Child Development Division.

El personal del VIP Village y sus planteles satélites le da la bienvenida a
usted y a sus hijos al Programa Preescolar del Distrito Escolar South
Bay Union. El Programa Preescolar sostiene la filosofía de que cada
niño es un individuo capacitado y con características individuales. Nos
esforzamos en proporcionar un programa que fomente la creatividad y
estimule la curiosidad y el amor por el aprendizaje. Nuestro programa
da margen a un crecimiento y desarrollo en las siguientes áreas: Socio-

Usted recibirá noticias escolares y del salón al igual que llamadas por
teléfono para informarle sobre las actividades y eventos escolares. Si
usted tiene alguna inquietud sobre su hijo/a, por favor haga una cita con
el maestro/a, o con el director del programa. Nos dará mucho gusto

El programa Preescolar del Distrito Escolar de South Bay, proporciona

INVOLVEMENT OF PARENTS/GUARDIANS
Parent / Family Volunteers
The VIP Village strongly encourages parent/guardian involvement in
the classroom of their children. This is a vital part of our educational
program. State law REQUIRES proof of immunization in order for
you to volunteer in your child’s classroom. Teachers and the Family
Services Liaison will contact you to arrange a convenient time for you
to participate in your child’s class. A volunteer sign-up sheet will be
posted outside your child’s classroom. You must first check in the
office, show identification, sign in/out and receive a volunteer sticker.
Parent Advisory Committee The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) contributes to planning,
developing, and evaluating a culturally and developmentally
appropriate Preschool Program. All parents/guardians are welcome
and encouraged to attend a monthly meeting. Complete information
regarding this committee will be sent home during the first month of
school, and throughout the year as meetings are scheduled.
Parent/Family Education Ongoing parent education, support, and opportunities are offered to all
parents/families of our preschool students. It is the expectation that
parents/families as the primary educator in their child’s life participate
in our parent/family education opportunities. Monthly newsletters or
calendars are provided to update families on our schedule of classes
and events.
Family Services The VIP Village has a Family Service Liaison to assist you with many
kinds of health, social, and community services, as well as family and
child needs. Please contact the office if you need assistance. A Family
Needs Assessment and services list will be included in your
registration packet. You may obtain information throughout the school
year.
PARTICIPACIÓN DE LOS PADRES DE FAMILIA
Padres/Familia Voluntarios El VIP Village recomienda firmemente a los padres / tutores la participación
en el salón de sus hijos. Esta es una parte vital de nuestro programa
educativo.De acuerdo a las leyes estatales es REQUISITO presesentar
prueba de imunizacion para participar como vountario en el salón de su
hijo/hija. Los maestros y la coordinadora de servicios para padres se
comunicarán con cada padre/tutor para acordar en una hora conveniente
para proporcionar su participación en el salón de clases. Afuera del salón de
clases encontrara una forma para anotarse como voluntario. Cada vez que
nos visite en la escuela deberá registrarse en la oficina, firmar entrada /
salida y recibir etiqueta de voluntarios.
Comité Consultivo de Padres de Familia El Comité Consultivo de Padres de Familia (PAC) contribuye a la
planeación, desarrollo y evaluación de un Programa Preescolar cultural y
con un desarrollo apropiado. Todos los padres y tutores son bienvenidos y
se les recomienda asistir a las juntas cada mes. Usted recibirá una
información completa sobre este comité durante el primer mes de clases al
igual que las fechas de las juntas que se lleven acabo durante el año.
Educación para Padres/Familia Multiples oportunidades de educación para padres y talleres de apoyo son
ofrecidos durante el año escolar. Es nuestra expectativa que los padres como
parte esencial del aprendizaje del niño participen en los talleres y programas
de educación, apoyo y oportunidades ofrecidas en el Preescolar VIP Village.

VERY IMPORTANT PROGRAMS HOSTS (Helping One Student to Succeed) The HOSTS program is funded through a combination of Economic
Impact Aid and State Preschool monies. This program addresses our
at-risk youngsters and utilizes parent/community/staff volunteers who
work individually with VIP villagers in need of additional emotional,
social, or learning support. Our Early Childhood Education Liaison,
Candace Reese, works directly with children in their preschool
classroom as well as small groups in the HOST room.
PROGRAMAS MUY ESPECIALES HOSTS Los fondos del programa HOSTS vienen de una combinación de

Children with Special Needs Children with an Individualized Education Plan are provided services
in the most appropriate setting as determined in their IEP. We have
classes for our students with moderate to severe and mild to moderate
disabilities. Inclusion of these students with our regular education
students occurs throughout the day. At our VIP West Early Learning
site we have an Inclusion class that includes both regular and special
education students. All of our special education classes follow the VIP
Village curriculum standards, making modifications as needed to
ensure student success. At varying times throughout the year, children
in general education classrooms will participate in classroom activities
with children who have special needs.
Head Start VIP Village collaborates with Episcopal Community Services for Head
Start classes at VIP Village and satellite campuses. These classes are
for 3½ hours and have the same focus on quality early education that
happens in all of our classrooms. Head Start is federally funded and
supports school to home interaction. We presently have six Head Start
classes, two each at VIP Village, Nicoloff Elementary, and Sunnyslope
Elementary.
Niños con Necesidades Alumnos con un Plan de Educación Individualizada (IEP) reciben
servicios en un ambiente apropiado de acuerdo a las necesidades

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES Attendance Children enrolled in all VIP Village, Head Start and Quality Preschool Initiative
classes are expected to maintain regular attendance (less than 15 absences in the
school year). This means daily attendance and regular class hours. If your child
is absent, please call the office (628-8690) to notify the secretary of the reason
for his/her absence. A written excuse (by a medical professional) is needed to
verify absences of longer than five days, or as requested. This written
verification is to be provided for each day your child is absent from Preschool.
Absences for family emergencies need to be requested through the preschool
office. Excessive, unexcused absences and/or late arrivals will result in your
child being dropped from the program. If a child is absent for more than five
days and there is no contact by parent/guardian, the child will be dropped.
EXCUSED ABSENCES:
Illness of child –Illness of parent or guardian

Court ordered visitation - must have court order on file
Quarantine of child or parent/guardian
BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD:
A child is allowed 10 Best Interest Days per school year.
Visit to non-custodial parent or family member
Visit to relatives
Lack of transportation
Illness of a relative
Religious holiday/Religious beliefs
Family emergency – may include death in the family, car accident,
or some emergency situation that makes it not possible, physically
or emotionally for the child to attend school.
If possible these absences should be documented with a written request
from the parent or guardian.
UNEXCUSED ABSENCES:
If a child has 5 or more unexcused absences they will be dropped from
the program.

Tardies We would like to emphasize how important it is to bring your child to school on
time. Preschool is the foundation of life long learning. Children are immersed in
learning activities from the moment they arrive on our campus. When they arrive
late, they miss out on many opportunities, and often feel out of sync with their
peers. Other students are affected because of the interruption to the teacher and
class. Establishing a routine and making it a priority to arrive at school on time
and be prepared will benefit your child for their academic career. We ask that
you join us in making your child’s education your first priority. This is a critical
time to establish good habits and have high expectations for our children’s
academic and personal success.
Late slip will be required from the office if you arrive 5 minutes late. Gates
to the school campus will be opened 10 minutes prior to school starting and
will be locked 5 minutes after school begins.
PICKING UP A SICK CHILD FROM SCHOOL:
If your child becomes ill during school:
Fever, Vomit, or Diarrhea – Student will be brought to the office
Cough, Cold, Headache, Sleepy, etc. – Student will remain in the
classroom.
Parents/Guardians or contacts listed on the student’s emergency card will be
notified of illness. It is required that the student be picked up within a timely
manner (no more than 30 minutes) by an adult (18 years or older) listed on your
child’s emergency card. Students need to be free from illness 24 hours before
returning to school.
BATHROOM ACCIDENTS DURING SCHOOL:
Should your child have a bathroom accident during school hours, staff will notify
the parent/guardian or contacts listed on your child’s emergency card. It is
mandatory by the State licensing department that your child be picked up or
provided with a change of clothing within a timely manner (no more than 20
minutes) by an adult (18 years or older) listed on your child’s emergency card.
REGLAMENTOS Y PROCEDIMIENTOS
Asistencia Se espera que los niños inscritos en todos los programas Preescolares
asistan con regularidad (menos de 15 ausencias en el año escolar). Esto
significa asistencia diaria y horas de clases regulares. Si su hijo falta a

MEJOR INTERES DEL ALUMNO:
Se le otorgan 10 días de mejor interés del alumno por año escolar
Visitar al padre que no tiene custodia otro familiar
Visita a parientes
Falta de transporte
Enfermedad de un pariente
Día Religioso/Creencias religiosas
Emergencia familiar-muerte en la familia, accidente vehicular, o
alguna otra situación que impida física o emocionalmente que el
alumno asista a clases.
De ser posible estas faltas deben de ser documentadas con una petición
escrita del padre o guardián.
FALTAS NO JUSTIFICADAS:
Si el alumno tiene 5 o mas faltas no justificadas se le dará de baja del
programa.
Viajes a parques de recreo
Exceder los 10 días de Mejor Interés del alumno
Cualquier falta que sea considerada bajo la categoría Justificada
o Mejor Interés del alumno
Tardanzas Queremos enfatizar la importancia de traer a su hijo a tiempo a clases. El
Preescolar es la fundación de un aprendizaje por vida. Desde el momento
que los niños llegan a la escuela, ellos son sumergidos en actividades de
aprendizaje académico. Al llegar los niños tarde, pierden muchas
oportunidades de aprender y se sienten un poco perdidos al tratar de
comprender lo que los demás ya están haciendo. Esto también interrumpe
la lección de la maestra y a los niños que ya están en su rutina. El establecer
una rutina y el hacer una prioridad llegar a tiempo a clase y estar
preparado, beneficiará a su hijo en su carrera académica. Este es el tiempo
de formar buenos hábitos y altas expectativas para el éxito académico y
personal de los alumnos.
**Nota de tardanza será requerida de la oficina si llega 5 minutos tarde.
Puertas para el plantel escolar se abrirán 10 minutos antes de comenzar
la escuela y se cerrarán 5 minutos después de que comiencen las clases.
NIÑOS ENFERMOS DURANTE EL DIA ESCOLAR
Si su hijo/hija se enferma durante el dia escolar:
Fiebre, vomito o Diarrea-sera traido oficina
Tos, resfriado, dolor de cabeza, sonñoliento, etc-esperara en el salón
Se contactara el Padre/Guardian o contactos en la tarjeta de emergencia para
avisarles la condición del alumno. Es requerido que el alumno sea recojido en
un tiempo razonable (no mas de 30 minutos) por un adulto mayor de 18 años
de edad y que su nombre aparesca en la tarjeta de emergencia del alumno. El
alumno deberá estar libre de síntomas por 24 horas antes de regresar a la
escuela.
INCIDENTES SANITARIOS DURANTE CLASES
Si su hijo/hija tiene un incidente durante las horas de clase, el personal notificara
al Padre/Guardian o contactos en la tarjeta de emergencia. De acuerdo al
Departmento de Licensing Estatal es obligatorio que el alumno sea recojido o se
cambie de ropa dentro de un periodo razonable (no mas de 20 minutos) por una
persona mayor de 18 años y que su nombre aparesca en la tarjeta de emergencia
del alumno.
Physician’s Report Every child is required to have a completed physical examination 90 days prior
to enrollment or within 30 days after enrollment. This is required by the State
Department of Education. For your convenience, the Preschool office will
furnish you a list of providers of physical examinations under the CHDP (Child
Health and Disability Prevention Program). It is highly encouraged to submit the
form at time of registration Failure to submit the physical form within the
first 30 days of enrollment will result in immediate withdrawal of the child
from the program.
PARENTS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME In order to protect your child’s safety, please always check in the office when
you first arrive on campus. The school campus is secured during instructional
time. This will ensure the safety of our students and staff will know you are
authorized to be on campus. All adults on campus must check in at the office
and wear a visitor badge.
Emergency and Health Information
Your cooperation in filling out the health and emergency cards at the beginning
of the school year and updating them as needed will help us to keep our records
up to date and ensure the safety of your child. It is extremely important that we
have your current address and phone number in case we need to reach you
regarding your child. Any changes in emergency information need to be made at
the VIP Village office in person. If insufficient emergency information is
available, your child may not attend preschool until such information is
furnished. Any person authorized to pick up a child must be 18 years of age
or older. Adults picking up students must present a valid photo identification
card-NO EXCEPTIONS. This ensures the health and safety of your child.
Children will not be released to adults not listed on emergency card or
without a valid photo ID.
Withdrawing Students from School In the event that you move out of South Bay Union School District, please notify
the Preschool Office at least 24 hours in advance. We will be happy to forward
records upon request.
Leaving School During the Day If your child has to leave class before the end of the school day, a parent, legal
guardian, or another person (who is 18 years old or older, has a picture
identification and who is authorized in writing on the emergency card) must sign
the child out, and indicate the time, with the classroom teacher, or in the VIP
Village office or in the classroom at WEST VIP, VIP at Nicoloff, and VIP at
Sunnyslope. Please limit early unnecessary pick up as it creates a disruption to
the learning environment.

de su hijo. Es sumamente importante que la escuela tenga su domicilio actual y
número telefónico en caso que téngamos que comunicarnos con usted.
Cualquier cambio en los datos de emergencia deberá ser notificados a la oficina
personalmente. Si no proporciona información suficiente, su niño no podrá
venir a la escuela hasta que obtengamos esta información. Cualquier persona
autorizada para recoger a su hijo deberá presentar identificación con foto

niño. Nungun alumno será entregado a un adulto que no este autorizado en la

Cuando Usted Tenga que sacar de la Escuela a su hijo Favor de notificar a la oficina preescolar en caso de cambiarse fuera del área
del Distrito Escolar South Bay Union, con un mínimo de 24 horas de
anticipación.
Cuando el Niño tiene que Salir Durante las Horas de Clase Si su hijo tiene que salir antes de terminar el día escolar, uno de los padres,
tutor legal u otra persona (que tenga 18 años de edad, una identificación con
fotografía y que esté autorizado por escrito en la tarjeta de emergencia), deberá
firmar e indicar la hora de salida del estudiante con su maestra o en la oficina
del VIP Village o en el salón de clase en West VIP, VIP en Nicoloff y VIP en
Sunnyslope. Por favor limite el recoger al alumno temprano ya que interrumpe
el ambiente de aprendizaje.
Transportation The safety of your child is our priority. Please be sure to follow all
guidelines to ensure the well-being and safety of your child.
Students who reside within the SBUSD boundaries and are in the State
Program in the afternoon at VIP Village or in special education are
offered transportation to and from school. All students are expected to
follow District behavior policies while riding the bus for their own safety,
as well as the safety of others.
You will be provided an assigned bus stop and drop-off/ pick-up time.
You must be at your stop at least 10 minutes before scheduled time. The
bus drivers do their best to provide efficient services for the entire
district. Due to traffic sometimes the buses are delayed. Please wait at
your stop for 10 minutes after your assigned time in case of traffic delays.
***Children in state preschool are required to wear their name tag
on the bus. They will not be allowed to board the bus unless they
have a name tag. ***Children will be released only to parents, legal
guardians, or other persons, 18 years or older, authorized in writing
on the child's emergency card to pick up the child.
***Photo I.D. and the Parent Authorization Card is required at all
times.
Parent Authorization Cards will be issued for each child and are to be
shown to the bus driver. These are non-transferable.
If a child is not picked up at the bus stop, he/she is returned to the VIP
Village. Persons on the emergency card are contacted to pick up the child.
If no one has come for the child within 30 minutes, the San Diego
Sheriff’s Dept. will be contacted. When the Sheriff’s Department
assumes responsibility for a child, he/she is taken to Polinsky’s

Los estudiantes que residen dentro de los límites del distrito escolar
SBUSD y están en el Programa Estatal en la sesión de la tarde en el
preescolar VIP Village o en el programa de educación especial se les
ofrece el servicio de transporte de ida y vuelta a la escuela. Se espera que todos
los estudiantes sigan las políticas de conducta del distrito en el autobús por su
propia seguridad, así como la seguridad de los demás.
Se le proporcionará la parada del autobús junto con las horas de recoger y
levantar a su hijo/a. Usted deberá estar en su parada por lo menos 10 minutos
antes el tiempo asignado. Los conductores del autobús hacen todo lo posible
para asegurar un transporte eficiente para todo el distrito. Debido al tráfico,
los autobuses a veces llegan un poco tarde. Favor de esperar en la parada del
autobús 10 minutos después del tiempo asignado en caso de alguna tardanza de
tráfico.

regresa al VIP Village. Las personas indicadas en la tarjeta de emergencia
reciben una llamada para que recojan al alumno. Si nadie se presenta dentro
de 30 minutos, la escuela se comunica con el Departamento de Alguacil de San
Diego. Cuando el Departamento de Alguacil toma responsabilidad del niño, el
niño es trasladado al Centro Para Menores Polinsky, 9440-A Ruffin Ct., San
Diego, (858) 514-4600.
El servicio de transporte será suspendido después de la tercera vez de
recoger tarde a su niño. La continuación de estos incidentes puede ser

The parking lot and street parking can become very full during the start of the
school day and on special events. If there are no spots available in the parking lot
at VIP Village, the traffic control attendant will direct you to available street
parking.

WALKERS
When bringing a child to school, parents are to wait with the child in front of
your teacher’s classroom until you have signed in with the teacher/instructional
assistant. Children are not allowed on the play equipment at arrival/dismissal
time. Please be prompt for arrival and dismissal times.
When picking up a child from school, parents are to wait in front of the school.
Each child must be signed out with the teacher/instructional assistant. It is very
important that parents pick up their children promptly at dismissal time. After
the third late pick up, the child can be dropped from the Preschool Program.
Children will be released only to parents, legal guardians, or other persons, 18
years or older, authorized on the child's emergency card to pick up their child
(Photo I.D. is required). If child is not picked up at dismissal time, he/she is
taken to the VIP Village office. Persons on the emergency card will be contacted
to pick up the child. If no one has come for the child within 30 minutes, the San
Diego Sheriff’s Department will be contacted. When the Sheriff’s Department
assumes responsibility for the child, he/she is taken to the Polinsky Children’s
Center, 9440-A Ruffin Ct., San Diego, and 1(858) 514-4600. Gates to the school campus will be opened 10 minutes prior to school starting
and will be locked 5 minutes after school begins.

Lunch Program All Head Start .State Preschool, and Special Education students attending
VIP Village and VIP at Nicoloff, and VIP at Sunnyslope are provided a
healthy diverse lunch with a beverage that meets the Dietary Guidelines
of Americans and the California Department of Education Nutrition
Services at no cost to the parent. Students attending WEST VIP will be
able to participate in the lunch program with lunches available at the
student’s price of $2.00 or at a reduced price or at no cost, if the family
qualifies under the Federal Guidelines. A lunch menu will be sent home
with each child at the beginning of every month and is posted on the
district web page. Students in our Head Start program will receive a
snack during class time. Preschool staff will observe and support
children’s eating habits. We do not use food and/or beverages as a
reward or a punishment. Nutrition education will be offered to children
that include hands-on activities based on the children’s developmental
stage.
Classroom Celebrations Celebrations at VIP are a vital part of our community. Teachers work
with parents to plan classroom events that help to deepen relationships.
Teachers rely on parents to assist in the planning of these events. For the
optimum safety of your child, we have a strict policy regarding the food
served at these events. All food items to be consumed by students MUST
be store bought, packaged, or catered from a licensed establishment in the
United States. We encourage all food items brought on campus be low in
sugar, healthy snacks are encouraged. We ask that balloons not be
brought on campus for classrooms or end of the year celebrations.
Dress Code Everything should be clearly marked with your child's name.
The following are suggestions for appropriate clothing for the Preschool
Programs:
Boys - shorts, slacks, or jeans, shirt
Girls - shorts, skirts, dresses, or pants
For safety purposes, children should not wear sandals, flip-flops or open
toe shoes. In planning clothing for your child, please remember that
Preschoolers use lots of paint and paste, and play with water, sand and
mud.
Programa de Almuerzo Todos los alumnos en el programa Estatal, Head Start y Educacián Especial
que asisten en el preescolar VIP Village, VIP Nicoloff y VIP Sunnyslope
reciben un almuerzo diverso y una bebida que llena los requisitos nutritivos
de Americans y el Departamento de Educación y Servicios de Nutrición de
California sin costo alguno. Los estudiantes que asisten a West VIP pueden
participar en el programa de almuerzo por el precio de alumno de $2.00 ó a
precio reducido o a ningún costo solamente si la familia califica bajo las
Guias Federales. Usted recibirá un menú los primeros días de cada mes.
Los estudiantes en el programa de Head Start recibirán un aperitivo durante
el tiempo de clase. El personal escolar supervisa y apoya los habitos
alimenticios de cada niño. No utilizamos la comida o bebidas como premio o
castigo. Educación de nutrición y actividades relacionadas serán ofrecidas
tomando en cuenta el desarrollo de los niños.
Celebraciones en los Salones Las celebraciones en el VIP son una parte vital de nuestra comunidad. Los
maestros organizan eventos con los padres de familia que apoyan el formar
amistades. Los maestros cuentan con la ayuda de los padres para organizar
estos eventos. Para la seguridad de los niños, tenemos reglas muy estrictas
acerca de los alimentos que se pueden servir. Todos los alimentos que
consuman los alumnos DEBEN SER comprados en la tienda, empaquetados
o servidos por un establecimiento con licencia de comida de los Estados
Unidos. Les pedimos que todos los alimentos compartidos en las
celebraciones sean bajos en azúcar. Los animamos a traer bocadillos
saludables. Les pedimos no traer globos a los salones o a las celebraciones
de fin de año.
Ropa Escolar Toda ropa debe estar claramente marcada con el nombre de su hijo. Las
siguientes son sugerencias para una ropa apropiada para usar en el
Programa Preescolar:
Niños- pantalón corto o largo, o “jeans”, camisa
Niñas- pantalón corto o largo, faldas, o vestidos
Por razones de seguridad, ningún niño deberá usar sandalias, chanclas o
zapatos de punta abierta. Al pensar en la ropa que le pondrá a su hijo, por
favor recuerde que los preescolares trabajan con mucha pintura y
pegamento, y juegan con agua, tierra y lodo.
Parent Rights All Parents in the State Preschool Program have the right to appeal their
eligibility for services. Complete information concerning this procedure
is on the back of your written "Notice of Action”.
Expectations for Behavior
The Expectations for Behavior in all Preschool programs are based on the
philosophy that all children in the program have the right to share in the
learning process in a positive manner. In addition, by developing self-
direction, self-concept, and respect for the rights of others will help to
produce responsible citizens. There is no better place to learn these
lifelong skills than at the preschool level.
Consistency between home and school in teaching children behavior
expectations is important for your child. Staff at VIP will work together
with parents to help ensure that each child has a successful preschool
experience.
Social Emotional Development The social and emotional development of children is essential to ensure
that learning takes place. At VIP, children are taught about their self
(self-awareness, self-regulations, caring) social interactions (cooperation
and responsibility), and relationships (with teachers and peer friendships).
Children are taught social and emotional skills using a positive, strengths-
based approach. This approach promotes the social and emotional
competence of young children and helps to reduce challenging behaviors.
Kindergarten Readiness All students are prepared for kindergarten once leaving VIP Village. We
have a kindergarten transition program through either a visit to a
kindergarten classroom or through the Virtual Visit Kindergarten.

Desarrollo Socio- Emocional El desarrollo socio-emocional de los alumnos es esencial para
asegurarun ambiente de aprendizaje. En VIP, los alumnos son instruidos
en el concepto de SER(autoconciencia del ser, autorregulación del ser,
calidez), interacciones(cooperación y responsabilidad), y relaciones (con
maestros ,compañeros y amigos). Los alumnos aprenderán a desarrollar
abilidades socio-emocionales enfocándose en lo positivo y sus puntos
fuertes. Este enfoque promueve la capacidad de los alumnos y reduce la
incidencia de conductas desafiantes.
Preparación para el Kinder Todos los estudiantes que salen de VIP Village están preparados para
ingresar al Kinder.Ofrecemos un programa de transición al Kinder que

Process for Inappropriate Behavior
Verbal Warning
Removal from Activity/Conference with Teacher the student
will be separated from class/removed from playground, and be
given the opportunity to confer with the teacher regarding the
inappropriate behavior. Student and teacher will review
classroom/playground behavior expectations and alternatives to
his/her inappropriate behavior.
Report to Parents/Guardians
The teacher will call the parent to inform the parent of the
problem and to discuss methods of dealing with the situation.
Conference with the Preschool Director/Assistant Director.
This conference will result in a plan to help the child resolve
the problem. When appropriate, conferences involving the
teacher, Director, parents, psychologist, and child will be held
in order to use a team approach to solving the particular
problem.
A best interest day from the Preschool Program will be used if
any child is a danger to him/herself or others (example- biting
or hitting), and reasonable attempts to modify this behavior are
not successful. Best interest days are meant to be used as a
learning experience for the child and is not a documented
suspension. Staff will confer with child’s family on in home
interventions to assist their child.
If dangerous behavior or repeated disruption of the classroom
program continue, a student study team meeting will be held to
explore appropriate interventions and possible alternative
placements for the child.
It is the intent of the program that no child is dropped from the
program. It may require the child stays home until most
appropriate placement is developed.
NO CORPORAL PUNISHMENT IS EVER USED
Consecuencias de un Mal Comportamiento
Advertencia verbal.
Se le retira de las actividades/Entrevista con el profesor/a. El
alumno será separado de la clase/sin derecho al área de recreo, y se
le dará la oportunidad de entrevistarse con el maestro/a sobre su
comportamiento. El alumno y maestro repasará el comportamiento
que se espera en el salón y/o área de recreo, y las alternativas de su
conducta.
Reporte a los padres/tutores El maestro llamará a los padres para informarles del problema y
hablarán acerca de los métodos para mejorar la situación.
Una Junta con el Director del Preescolar.
Esta junta preverá un plan que sirva para que el alumno resuelva su
problema. Cuando sea apropiado, la junta incluirá al maestro,
director de la escuela, padres, psicólogo, y al propio alumno, con el
propósito de aplicar un enfoque de equipo hacia la solución del
problema en particular.
Un dia de mejor interés del Programa Preescolar será implementado
para cualquier
niño al dañarse a él mismo o a otras personas (por ejemplo- morder
o golpear), esto después de haber usado métodos razonables de
disciplina y que no hayan sido provechosos. Dias de mejor interes
pretenden ser utilizados como una experiencia de aprendizaje para el
niño y no es una suspensión documentada.El personal sugerirá a la
familia del alumno intervenciones en casa que ayuden al alumno.
Sí el comportamiento peligroso ó interrupción del programa escolar
continua, se formara un equipo de consulta el cual explorara
intervenciones apropiadas y o alterantivas para la colocación del
alumno en el programa escolar.
Es la intención del programa que ningún alumno sea dado de baja.
Puede ser necesario que el alumno se quede en casa hasta que se
encuentre la colocación apropiada.
