un percorso di eccellenza
Dal 1984 ad oggi la storia di Vismara è percorsa da una tensione continua
all’innovazione: un obiettivo che non si raggiunge mai definitivamente.
Una rotta tracciata dal progettista, Alessandro Vismara, architetto navale
specializzato in Idrodinamica applicata e Performance Prediction presso il
Southampton College of Higher Education.
L’esperienza di Vismara cresce prima con Perini Navi e poi dal 1990 con
Baltic Yachts, di cui tuttora è il riferimento per la concettualizzazione e
l’assistenza nel Mediterraneo.
Dai primi successi internazionali delle imbarcazioni firmate Vismara Yacht
Design al prestigio dei progetti, degli allestimenti e delle ristrutturazioni di
Marine Services, l’azienda non ha mai smesso di crescere in qualità di servizio
e di razionalizzazione dell’attività cantieristica, che oggi trova espressione in
una nuova sede.
Un unico punto di riferimento per ottimizzare la relazione costruttore-
armatore, interpretandone al meglio i sogni e indirizzando le scelte verso
quel principio di coerenza, che costituisce la caratteristica dello Stile Vismara.

Since 1984, Vismara’s history has been marked by its continuing tendency to
innovate, without ever resting on our laurels.
This is a route mapped out by our designer, Alessandro Vismara, naval
architect who specialised in Applied Hydrodynamics and Performance
Prediction at Southampton College of Higher Education.
Vismara’s roots start with Perini Navi and fortified in 1990 with Baltic Yachts,
for which it is still the reference point when it comes to conceptualisation
and assistance in the Mediterranean.
From the early international successes of vessels by Vismara Yacht Design,
to the prestige of designs, fittings and renovations and refits by Marine
Services, the company has never stopped growing in terms of quality
service and the rationalisation of boat building activities, which are now
located in a new yard.
It is the sole benchmark when it comes to optimised relations between the
boat builder and the owner, a company with the ability to interpret ideas and
point choices in the direction of coherence, a principle that has always been
a feature of Vismara Style.

The research workshop is the heart and mind of the company. This is where
the boat takes shape, moulded to suit the owner’s wishes, and built with all of
the skills and art that is Vismara. It is a meeting of visions: from the designer,
to the boatyard manager and on to the supplier and owner. This means that
owners are able to make each single detail their own, and the boat, starting
from its design stages, becomes his or her own. This completely overturns
the traditional viewpoint and has attracted such customers as architects and
businessmen who, over time, have given us the chance to evolve, and in this

Our challenge has always been to provide scientific answers to the
characteristics of “sea navigation”.
Applying CFD (computational fluid dynamics), we develop the shapes that
will achieve the optimum relationship between comfort and performance as
well as cutting consumption.

The use of racing technology has allowed us to improve safety and is also
a means to take a new architectural approach to layout distribution. A
monocoque with carbon fibre sandwich structure has always formed the
core of our boats.

Il forno per la cottura delle imbarcazioni fino a 30 metri, modernissimi impianti
di aspirazione, verniciatura, laminazione sotto vuoto, movimentazione e
quant’altro sono allo stato dell’arte della cantieristica moderna.
L’architettura generale è realizzata, come nelle nostre barche, con strutture
integrate a vista, impianti e spazi con valenza funzionale ed architettonica,
materiali semplici e razionali.

and 1000 as the dock work area. Vismara’s operational headquarters bring
all of its staff and activities together in one big “house”.
It brings together design and construction but above all, it gives our boat
owners the peace of mind that someone is following them and their craft,
throughout the course of its lifetime, which means they can enjoy an
immediate relationship with all of the people working on it.
An oven for baking craft up to 30 metres in length, ultra-modern extraction
systems, painting, vacuum lamination, moving and other processes are all at
state-of-the-art levels for the modern boatyard.
As on our boats, the overall architecture uses integrated and exposed
structures, systems and spaces that are put to functional and architectural
use, plus simple and rational materials. The impression is one of substance
and professionalism, of technology and functional use.

In 1996, together with the Energy Faculty of the University of Florence,
Vismara founded the first research competition for hulls, sails and
propulsion in the nautical industry (International Consortium Advanced
Design) to open know-how to the outside, deriving from the use of scientific
testing instruments which until now had only been available in the fields of
aeronautics and industry.

Vismara was the first boatyard in Italy to be awarded this certification (2001).
Vismara believes in a certified quality process to guarantee the reliability
of its products and the possibility of tracing any faults over time; it uses ISO
standards to organise and qualify the collaboration processes between all
staff in-house.
