alayira Divya Prabandham

(4000 Divya Prabandham)

is a collection of poetic expres-

sions of the twelve Sri Vaishnava

Alwars of their experience of

enjoying the presence of Sriman

Narayana during their lifetime.

These Prabandhams were lost

over time, but due to the grace of

Nammalwar, at the very begin-

ning of Kali Yuga, Madura Kavi

Alwar received all of them from

Nammalwar. Since then, the

4000 Prabandham have been

taught in an unbroken lineage

from a guru to sishyas and they

are committed to the memory by

the sishyas so they are never lost.

This learning process is called

“adhyayana.”

Every year “adhyayana” of

the 4000 Prabandham is ceased

for about 60 days and restarted

afterwards. This is called “an-

adhyayana kalam”. This period

falls between Krithika Nakshatra

during Vruschika month and

Hastha Nakshatra during Makara

month. During Thirumangai

Alwar's period, He had arranged

to bring the “archa moorthy” of

all the 12 Alwars to Srirangam

where all 4000 verses are chant-

ed in front of Srirangam

NamperumAl and Alwars as per

the command of Srirangam

Namperumal Himself. Since all

the scholars would come to

Srirangam for this event,

nowhere else the 4000

Prabandham were chanted dur-

ing this period. During the first

10 to 20 days of this period the

Alwars were brought by foot

from various Divya Desas. Then

starting on Sukla Paksha

Prathama and culminating on

Dasami, for ten days, all the

Prabandhams except

Nammalwar’s are chanted dur-

ing the day time in front of

Namperumal. This is called

“Pagal Patthu”. Starting on the

auspicious day Sukla Paksha

Ekadasi (Sri Vaikunta Ekadasi),

for the next nine days, Swami

Nammalwar’s Prabandhams are

chanted in front of Namperumal

in the evening. This is called

today as Irappathu or

Thiruvaimozhi Thirunaal. After

the event, Alwars return to their

respective Divya Desas over the

next 10~20 days. The total

duration of 60 days was set as

Anadhyayana kalam.

Today, “adhyayana utsavam”

is conducted at many Sri

Vaishnava temples closely fol-

lowing the sequence from

Srirangam. Chanting of

Prabandham in homes is with-

held in this period (except during

Dhanur month as explained

below). Chanting of Swami

Vedanta Desikan’s Prabandham

and Sri Manavala Mamuni’s

Prabandham are allowed.

During the Dhanur month,

Thiruppavai sung by Andal

(Goda Devi) is chanted and the

Thiruppavai vratam by Andal is

followed by Sri Vaishnavas. This

vratam includes waking up of the

Sriman Narayana early in the

morning in the brahma

muhurtham with

Thiruppaliyeluchi and doing the

aradhanam before sunrise. To

allow for this vratam to be prac-

ticed by everyone, during

Dhanur month,

Thiruppaliyeluchi and

Thiruppavai can be chanted at

the homes. This is the only

exception to chanting of

Prabandham. The remaining

period of Vruschika and Makara

months again revert back to no

chanting in homes.

Houston Goshti, which has

been learning the 4000

Prabandham, has participated

virtually at “adhyayana utsavam”

conducted by Sri Parakala

Matam, Charlotte, NC and in

person at the Sri Ashtalakshmi

Temple, Houston, TX. If you

would like to join Houston

Goshti or learn 4000

Prabandham, please email

he pandemic period and the

subsequent lockdown have

led many people to discover new

talents and unearth their hidden

skills they had lost touch with,

and celebrities are no exception.

While some are cooking and re-

decorating their homes, leg-

endary comedian

Brahmanandam has rediscovered

his love for art during the phase.

Known for acting in more

than 1000 movies in multiple

languages, he is famous in both

the Telugu States for his comic

timing and acting skills. He is a

literature enthusiast and has

worked as a Telugu lecturer

before venturing into films. The

'Haasya Brahmam' has artistic

abilities too, but has refrained to

showcase that and exhibit his

pictures as he was very busy in his

acting career. The quality of his

pencil sketches that he has drawn

during the lockdown has surprised

many and made heads turn. The

actor drew a number of pencil

sketches including those of leg-

endary poet Sri Sri, the 'Bard of

Bengal' Rabindranath Tagore,

Lord Ram hugging Hanuman,

Lord Venkateswara Swamy,

scenery in Vaikuntam and Lord

Balaji playing dice with Hathiram

Bhavaji. The amazing display of

light and shade skill through pen-

cil sketch and finger smoothening

for shading are quite appealing.

He also drew a depiction of how

India is fighting the Corona virus

by staying indoors. This sketch is

doing rounds on the Internet and

netizens are applauding him for

depicting the situation so well. He

drew a pencil sketch of Lord Ram

and Hanuman on the occasion of

Ram Mandir bhoomi puja and the

beautiful sketch went viral on

social media.

Everyone is in awe over the

work done by Brahmanandam.

This shows a different side of him

to his fans. He is away from acting

for the last few years due to health

reasons. He is spending quality

time with his family and exploring

himself. Though artwork has been

a passion for him for a long time,

we are getting a glimpse of it only

now. Buzz is that the actor would

sketch even between shoots but

now that he has time on his hands,

he’s really showing off his skills.

Previously, during an interview

the comedian revealed that he

likes sculpting and he had begun

sculpting even before the lock-

down was imposed in the country

due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Brahmanandam will be next seen

on the big screen in the next direc-

torial venture of Krishna Vamsy. It

is a long-delayed project, and the

comedian will be seen in a whole

new light in it. He plays a serious

part in it.

On the whole, Bramha nan-

dam's pencil sketches have left all

the netizens impressed and made

them bow down for this multi-tal-

ented artist.

New Year giftBrahmanandam surprised a few Tollywood stars like

Allu Arjun, Rana Daggubati and Srinivas Reddy with a

priceless gift on the occasion of New Year. He present-

ed 'Lord Balaji' pencil sketch to the actors and

awestruck us with his flawless art. They were gifted a

framed picture of Lord Venkateswara's sketch and a cal-

endar showcasing the beautiful sketch. Rana and Bunny

took to Twitter to thank the actor for a priceless gift.

Bramhanandam's son Raja Gautam also shared the beauti-

ful sketch on his Instagram account and praised his father's

awesome talent. He revealed that his father took 45 days to

complete this hand drawn pencil sketch with a relentless

pursuit of perfection. He also said that Brahmanandam started pencil sketches as a hobby and has

now mastered it with finesse. Gautam also informed that this was one of the countless ways in

which his father had inspired him during the lockdown. This stunning new art work of the leg-

endary comedian has rocked the Internet and has turned viral.

fter Bank ATM and Water

ATM, it is now the turn for

another quick vending machine,

but it is free of cost. Ramu

Dosapati, an HR executive in a

corporate firm, has been running a

‘Rice ATM’ – a 24X7 supply of

rice and other rations for the

needy in Hyderabad since April,

2020. The 'Rice ATM' located in

LB Nagar came as a boon to the

people who lost their livelihood

and the families who became vic-

tims to Coronavirus in Pearl City.

In the gruelling months of the

coronavirus lockdown, several

stories of migrant workers and the

poor being stranded without jobs

and money emerged. This also led

to the emergence of stories of real

life heroes like Sonu Sood who

went out of their way to help peo-

ple out. And on the same line is

Ramu Dosapati, an MBA graduate

from Telangana’s capital city, who

is the founder of the 'Rice ATM'

initiative — which is turning out to

be a lifesaver for many in the city.

Ramu came up with the facility for

those who do not have rice for

their next meal. A person

approaching the 'Rice ATM'

would receive a ration kit which

contains rice that will suffice for

five days and a few other grocery

items. For the elderly people who

can’t come to the 'Rice ATM', he

delivers the kit at their doorstep, if

they call him over the phone.

From COVID-19 to

Hyderabad floods, nothing has

stopped Dosapati in serving the

needy. The initiative has been run-

ning continuously for more than

250 days and at least 25,000 fam-

ilies have been beneficiaries of

this humanitarian gesture. Ramu

launched the ATM using his per-

sonal savings of Rs 1.5 lakhs,

which went up to Rs 5 lakhs,

including Rs 3 lakhs from his

provident fund. So far, Ramu has

spent nearly Rs 52 lakhs for the

initiative and now many others

have started contributing rice bags

on special occasions such as their

birthdays or anniversaries. People

who have ration rice in excess of

their requirement are coming for-

ward to donate rice to the

ATM. Dosapati, who cur-

rently lives in a 1 BHK flat with his

wife and two sons, wanted to buy

a 3 BHK flat. While his social serv-

ice was limited to the weekends

initially, it received attention

through the word-of-mouth pub-

licity and more and more people

came forward asking for help.

After seeing the plight of many

poor people, Ramu made it a 24/7

ATM, gave up on the 3 BHK

house and directed the money to

the 'Rice ATM' service. Ramu

started this initiative to fulfill the

vow he made to god, when he

met with an accident in 2006, that

he would indulge in social service

if he survived.

Being a native of Nalgonda

district, this isn’t the first time

Ramu has come forward to help

people in need. From donating

blood to participating in social

media challenges such as the

Tiffin box challenge and the

‘exchanging plastic with sapling’

initiative, he has been trying to

make a difference. The 'Rice

ATM' has not only helped

migrants but also those who lost

their jobs due to the Covid-19

pandemic which includes many

school teachers as well. Apart

from this, Ramu has also started a

'Job Mela' for the teachers through

which they are earning a decent

amount by taking online tuitions.

The inspiration for his 'Rice ATM'

initiative was a watchman who

spent Rs 2,000 and bought food

for a migrant worker’s family who

had hardly anything to eat during

the pandemic. Seeing the watch-

man's noble act, Ramu decided to

help the needy selflessly.

Over time, there has been out-

pouring support from self-help

groups and people to help his ini-

tiative. The 'Rice ATM' is receiv-

ing a global reach with newspa-

pers covering the laudable effort

and netizens trending it in the

social media. Though life for most

has returned to normalcy, Ramu

still does not want to stop his ini-

tiative as he wants to help the peo-

ple who are in genuine need and

does not want them to sleep on

empty stomachs.

he Telangana government’s pro-

posal to construct a new ultra-

modern Secretariat complex near

Necklace Road, in Hyderabad, has

received environmental clearance

from the Union Ministry of

Environment, Forest and Climate

Change (MoEFCC). The decks were

cleared for the mega-project with

the swanky building plan getting

the green nod.

The approval came after the

State government had submitted

to the Centre that only 27 trees

would have to be relocated as

they happen to be in the area

where the Secretariat complex

will come up. It also informed the

Centre that there are 607 trees in

total on the premises but no clear-

ing, pruning or cutting any of

these would be required, barring

the 27 which will be translocated

within the area. Of the 607 trees,

there are no endemic or endan-

gered plants on the site. The fau-

nal composition in the area is gen-

erally of arboreal and semi-arbore-

al-based animals like squirrels,

lizards, skinks and rats. Among

birds, only spotted doves and blue

rock pigeons are mostly seen and

butterflies are fairly attracted to

the ornamental plants and water

on the grass.

The construction works of the

new Telangana Secretariat com-

plex are going on at a brisk pace,

also without compromising on

quality, under the supervision of

the Roads and Buildings depart-

ment, with the work agency

Shapoorji Pallonji actively taking

up the task. Accommodation has

been arranged at the site with

modern facilities, giving impor-

tance to cleanliness, for 2,500

workers. A ready mix plant has

been established at the site with-

out having to obtain concrete

from outside for construction.

Design for the building has been

finalised after getting them vetted

by experts in view of Chief

Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's

directive that the building should

be strong and quake-resistant.

Hyderabad-based Satyavani

Projects and Consultants and

Chennai-based Oscar and Ponni

Architects prepared the design.

The construction is expected to be

completed in 12 months and the

building is predicted to last for

about 150 years. KCR had laid the

foundation stone for the ambitious

project in 2019.

The total area of the project

site is 26.29 acres, of which the

rooftop/terrace is 0.77 acres, green

belt 2.65 acres, landscape area

2.67 acres, parking 7.05 acres,

roads 8.17 acres, helipad 0.18

acres, vacant spaces (setbacks and

other open areas) 3.93 acres and

FTL buffer zone area is 0.87 acres.

The total rainwater that can be har-

vested from the rooftop is estimat-

ed at 22,61,328 litres. This would

be the definite source of water

available even after the construc-

tion is complete. The ground cov-

erage areas such as landscape and

green belt, and tarmac/cement-

covered areas such as roads, park-

ing lots and helipad are not taken

into account. As part of fire protec-

tion measures, 487 extinguishers,

280 first-aid hose reels, 20 wet

raisers and 20 downcomers will be

positioned. The new Secretariat

building (278 ft), once constructed

will be taller than several monu-

ments in the country such as the

Taj Mahal (240 ft), Qutub Minar

(237 ft), Charminar (183 ft), Quli

Qutb Shah’s Tomb (196 ft) and the

Buddha statue (58 ft). The TRS

government is constructing a new

Secretariat complex as a symbol of

prestige to the newly-formed State

and also to effectively cater to

present day requirements.

Today what we all are doing,

either we have to but a kitchen

item or book a movie ticket, trans-

fer money we can say for our

smallest need we are dependent

on the internet.Either we are on

the bed or anywhere, the mobile

phone is our addiction. Even some

people don’t eat their breakfast,

lunch or dinner without using it.

Why we are using this?

I think the mobile phone has

made our life so easy, sometimes I

feel that the knowledge of the

whole world is in my pocket.. You

know what, this is not going to sta-

ble or the use of mobile phones is

not going to decrease in the com-

ing years. We are moving here

and there in our busy lives, we

don’t have that much time to

remember everything, in this case,

phone helps a lot.

Now if I talking about the

future of Artificial Intelligence in

Marketing, the marketing opera-

tions space is evolving every day.

It is typical that marketers focus on

creating campaigns that are cus-

tomer oriented and technology

based. Artificial Intelligence tech-

nology can be used to create tar-

geted marketing campaigns, in

addition to helping the marketing

team make informed decisions

through Data Analytics.

To perform all kinds of mar-

keting operations a marketer

needs to conduct research on con-

sumer behaviour and collate lots

of data from the assorted research

tools, like, Field Surveys, In-depth

Interviews and Focus Group stud-

ies etc.. The collated data is used

to train and build Machine

Learning models that could be

used to do predictive Analyticson

critical marketing variables like

understanding buyer persona,

forecasting sales, etc..

Rich cultureThe new complex will be an amalgamation of historic archi-

tecture and modern technology reflecting the rich culture and tra-

dition of Telangana. Built with Deccani and Kakatiya architec-

tures, it will have concrete structures in only 20 per cent of the

vast 25-acre campus and the rest will be dedicated to landscap-

ing and greenery. Besides the main entrance for Ministers, offi-

cials and public on the east side, the complex will have a sepa-

rate entrance for the Chief Minister. Facing the Hussain Sagar lake

in the east, the new building will be rectangular with six floors

(G+5) having about 7 lakh sqft of built-up area. The building is

inspired from the 1,000 Pillar Temple in Warangal. The

Secretariat will have five domes in its central part, just like the

temple.

The building is designed to accommodate more Ministers,

once the Assembly seats are increased from 119 to 153 as pro-

posed in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014. Every Minister’s cham-

ber will have eight compartments, which means there will be 200

compartments. This will provide office space to Secretaries and

other staff members. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) will be

on the seventh floor, which will be the top-most floor of the

Secretariat. The CMO will have 30 compartments. The east-fac-

ing Secretariat building will measure 600 ft by 300 ft. The front-

side glasses will be in blue colour and it has been decided to use

Dholpur Beige Sandstone from Rajasthan.

welve books on Lord Sri Venkateswara in

Telugu written by T.V.R.K.Murthy

(Viswapathi) are added to the collections of

the prestigious Widener Library of Harvard

University. The Harry Elkins Widener

Memorial Library is Harvard University's

flagship library. Built with a gift from Eleanor

Elkins Widener, it is a memorial to her son,

Harry, Class of 1907, an enthusiastic young

bibliophile who perished aboard the Titanic.

Widener holds one of the world's most com-

prehensive research collections in the

humanities and social sciences. In fact Mr.

Viswapathi's books are kept in most presti-

gious libraries of the world like Harvard,

Stanford, Cornell, Columbia etc. in the USA,

Oxford and Cambridge in the U.K.,

University of Zurich, Switzerland, Royal

Danish Library, Denmark, University of

Heidelberg, Germany etc. Mr. Viswapathi’s

books are used in teaching by several promi-

nent professors in many Universities across

the world. Mr. Viswapathi, who is basically

an M.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from

REC, Warangal, wrote 25 devotional books

of which 15 are on Lord Sri Venkateswara

alone. All these books are being distributed

free to devotees. Mr. Viswapathi wrote his

first book Sri Srinivasa Mahatmyam in

2002. Sri Venkateswara Vrata Kalpam writ-

ten by him in 2005 has become very popu-

lar with the devotees and is now translated

into 12 languages including French and

Italian. Millions of people including

Europeans and Chinese read it every

Saturday. Mr. Viswapathi publishes about

10,000 copies of these books and distrib-

utes them free. Several eminent spiritual

leaders and seers read his books regularly.

A copy of Sri Venkateswara Vrata Kalpam is

kept in British Library, London in 2013. It is

for the first time that twelve telugu books on

Lord Sri Venkateswara of an individual

author are being kept in permanent collec-

tions of Widener Library of Harvard

University.

Mr. Viswapathi is also a prominent car-

toonist and logo designer. He had drawn

cartoons in Indian Express from 1984-90.

His recent cartoon collection book

Sincerely Yours was appreciated by several

intellectuals including Sri Hamid Ansari,

former Vice-President of India. Incidentally

it is also added to Harvard library. Mr.

Viswapathi worked in Allwyn from 1984-

88 and then in MVSR Engineering college,

Hyderabad from 1988-98. In 1993 he start-

ed selecting company names and designing

logos for business organizations based on

Vedic principles. It became his full time

profession in 1998. Since then Mr.

Viswapathi designed logos for more than

6,000 organisations worldwide.

Sri Venkteswara Darsanam, Sri

Venkateswara Vrata Kalpam, Sri

Venkteswara Vaibhavam, Sarvaroopa

Srinivasam, Amrutha Sopanam, Sri

Padmvathi Parinayam, Sri Venkatadri

Vaibhavam, Sri Mahalakshmi Mahatmyam,

Govindapadham and Bhaje Srinivasam are

the Telugu books which are now kept in the

prestigious Harvard library.

Mr. Viswapathi’s recent book Met Again is

receiving international acclaim. Many

described it as a book that changes the way we

look at life. It deals with a soul’s travel over

several births and human relationship with

Cosmos. It helps you to understand the sever-

al complexities of life and makes you confi-

dent to understand your emotions. In Met

Again Mr. Viswapathi shares with humility

and simplicity the enlightenment he experi-

enced a few years ago, whereby he saw 108

people he had encountered in an earlier incar-

nation at the

H i m a l a y a n

Divya Ashram.

He reveals how

he has met and recognized them today, in

their present birth. The book reads like a tap-

estry of stories weaving together the lives of

human beings of both gender, of all creeds

and races, and from all realms, as well as ani-

mals and trees -- all inter-connected by the

power of the Divya Shakti, the Supreme Force.

Mrs. Agnes, a reputed Yoga Teacher

from France says ‘Met Again has answered

many of the questions I had about life after

life. In Met Again Mr. Viswapathi explains

the mysteries of karma and souls’ travels

with simple and inspiring words and that

makes the reading very interesting and

inspiring. Mr. Viswapathi gets hundreds of

letters, telephonic and e-mail requests daily

for his books from around the world. The

books are being sent freely to anyone inter-

ested in reading them. Mr. Viswapathi’s

books are simple to read and one does not

require to undertake any strict rituals. Any

one can freely download his books from

that the team could rise to the occasion

under adverse circumstances when they

won with three wickets to spare with the

wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant stood at the

crease unbeaten with a gallant 89. Most

importantly, the team virtually played the

second XI in the absence of injury to the

pacemen Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed

Shammi and Umesh Yadav and to the all-

rounder spinners, Ravindra Jadeja and

Ravichandran Aswin, apart from Hanuma

Vihari. However, their

replacements Mohammed Siraj, Saini,

Shardul Thakur, Washington Sundar and

Natarajan excelled with their meritorious

performances and stormed the Kangaroos in

their citadel. India also had the handicap of

the absence of their regular captain Virat

Kohli, who was on paternity leave. It was

heartening to note that Shardul and Sundar

gave ample evidence of their all-round abili-

ty when the duo took the partnership to 148

runs for the seventh wicket, with the former

accounting for a swashbuckling 67 runs and

the latter made a sedate 62 runs to reduce

the lead to 33 runs in the final test that was

termed as the turning point of the game. The

loss of toss and the lead, with the Brisbane

pitch taking a turn on the final day with the

display of cracks on the field did not deter

the Indian team when the opener Shubham

Gill made a quick-fire 91, although, the

other opener Rohit Sharma got out quickly,

similar to his first innings dismissal.

Pujara's role

As Rahane addressed in the post-match

press conference, full marks to the Mr.

Dependable Cheteswar Pujara for the man-

ner in which he withstood the torrid pound-

ing from the Aussie pace attack of Cummins

and Hazelwood. The hosts found the stum-

bling block when their leading fast bowler

Starc was out of form and their main spin-

ner Lyon did not perform to his potential.

Rahane marshalled his resources

admirably, although he had not let his bat

talking throughout the series, except in the

first innings of the first test when he scored

a hurricane century. If Vihari and Ashwin

were the saviour in the third test, Pujara and

Sundar ensured that Pant engrossed in

blitzkrieg when the asking rate started

climbing up as the visitors were required to

score 50-odd runs with ten overs left for

completion of the match. Undaunted by the

reverse, after the loss of Mayank Agarwal at

the crunch situation, Sundar made merry

with his willow and in the company of Pant

coasted home to a glorious victory, after

Gill accelerated the proceedings.

The Australian display in the entire

series suggested that the team was relying

overtly on their opener David Warner and

their middle-order batsmen, Steven Smith

and Labuschagne. Their captain Tin Pyne

cut a sorry figure behind the wicket, as well

as his inability to lead the team with a clear-

cut direction when the chips were down.

The Australian openers and the middle-

order let the team down and on a few occa-

sions, it was left to the late-order led by the

tailenders, especially Cummins, to put the

squad to a respectable total. It was Rahane

and his men proved that they had better

bench strength than the Australians when

the need arose.

Showed intent

The Indian players, as mentioned by

Rahane, showed a lot of character and

intent and the oneness was evident when

they shared their knowledge and supported

each other on and off the field with

renewed vigour. The team management

ensured that the players did not feel the

absence of Kohli and other leading players

when they sustained injuries. However,

while basking in glory, it is time for the

team to realise that they need to brush up

their fielding, especially, when they missed

some vital catches at crunch situations and

it could have cost them the match and the

series in the final test, as the saying goes,

“catches win matches”. But India was assist-

ed in this respect by Australia, as their skip-

per Pyne regretted for missing three

chances, including two of Pant, in the

Sydney test that emboldened India to sal-

vage a draw. However, one cannot detract

the bravery of Vihari and Ashwin to take the

team to safety with grit and dogged-deter-

mination, despite suffering from injuries

and constant bouncers hurled at them by

the Aussie pacemen in the third test. Siraj

emerged with flying colours, despite losing

his father in the middle of the series, but

was quick to paying tributes to him after he

scalped five wickets for 76 in the first

innings of the final test with his marathon

spell. The soft-spoken lad also made it a

point of encouraging his fellow paceman

Thangarasu Natarajan and other players.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India

rightly decided to award Rs. 5 crore bonus

for the victorious team. The cricket-hungry

fans in India and other parts of the world are

naturally elated over the scintillating per-

formance of the Indian team after the disap-

pointing outing at the World Cup. With the

five-test series against England starts in

February, the team India cannot take the vis-

itors for granted, as are a force-to-reckon

with in all three formats of the game. It is

pertinent to note that India lost the away

series in England a few years ago, and it is

time for the hosts to prove that their victory

against Australia was not a flash-in-the pan.

The time is also ripe for the selectors to

pick different captains for the three formats,

as it would be a tall order for Kohli to man

them effectively in the long run. Moreover,

he is not getting younger, as the day pro-

gresses. Is it not time for the team manage-

ment not to segregate players into one-day

and test match categories? For instance,

though Mayank failed in the recent test

series, he should not be clubbed as a one-

day performer only. Similarly, Rahane

nursed his grievance earlier that he was not

picked up for the World Cup squad, and it

would be unfair to sideline him for the one-

dayers and T20 formats with an impression

that he is ideally suited for test formats. A

few players like Ashwin are also nurturing a

similar grievance.

India’s joy knew no bounds that all

players could prove their mettle when they

were given a chance to showcase their

potential. Moreover, the players need to

find time to compete in domestic tourna-

ments, although they should not be

deprived of participating in the money-spin-

ner and coveted format, the IPL.

Ayurveda forHyperacidity

yperacidity (Amlapitta) is one of the

most common diseases seen in society.

It is seen in all ages, all classes, and all com-

munities. Hyperacidity refers to a set of

symptoms caused by an imbalance

between the acid-secreting mechanism of

the stomach and proximal intestine and the

protective mechanisms that ensure their

safety. The stomach naturally secretes acid

that is essential in the digestive process.

When there is excess acid production in the

stomach, it results in a condition known as

acidity.

CAUSES: 'Hurry,' 'Worry,' and 'Curry' are

the three main reasons for the imbalance

pitta and leading to hyperacidity.

Diet (Ahara)

Spicy food like eating samosa, burger,

pizza, Chinese food. Excessive use of

chilly, Cinnamon, clove, mustard,

garam masala powder (spice mixture),

garlic, etc. in diet, Salty and sour foods

like chips,

Eating stale, daily consumption of fer-

mented foods (dosa, uttapam, idli, etc.,

bakery food items), Oily foods, pickles,

Excessive intake of tea/coffee.

Lesser intake of water, dry food

 Irregular meal times

Repeated food intake (before the diges-

tion of the previously taken food)

 Incompatible food like taking non-veg.,

pizza followed by a milkshake.

Lifestyle (Vihara)

 Lack of rest, fast-moving lifestyle.

 Insufficient sleep at night.

 Sleeping immediately after meals.

Mental factors Stressful lifestyle

 Excessive anxiety, worry, jealousy,

anger, fear

 Job dissatisfaction,

Other causes Autumn season

 Addiction to alcohol, smoking, tobacco

chewing

 Prolonged intake of NSAIDS (pain

killers)

 Helicobacter pylori infection.

All these causes result in an excessive

increase of 'Pitta dosha' in the body and

exhibit symptoms of amlapitta.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS Heart &chest burn (retrosternal burn-

ing),

Sour or bitter belching. t Nausea,

 Throat burn.

Regurgitation of food or sour substance

 vomiting

 Gaseous distention of abdomen

 Heaviness in abdomen

 Indigestion.

 Aversion towards food.

 Pain in the abdomen.

 Chest pain. Headache.

 Bad breathe.

 Foul-smelling loose motions.

 Severe burning sensation over feet,

hands

 Thirst, t Mouth ulcer,

 Fatigue (especially in legs)

 Tiredness

PREVENTION

"Prevention is better than cure" Thus, it is

better to avoid all the causative factors of

acidity (amlapitta).

Avoid excessive salty, oily, sour, heavy

to digest, and spicy foods

Untimely intake of food should be

avoided.

 Avoid smoking and alcohol intake

Food mainly of bitter taste like bitter

gourd, matured ash gourd can be help-

ful. Barley, Wheat, old rice, and green

gram in the diet also helps with pitta

imbalance.

 Avoid overcooked, stale, and contami-

nated food.

The food must be cooked appropriately

 Follow mental relaxation techniques

Do's (Pathya) Include easy to digest food, Coconut

water, Food items having cooling prop-

erties.

 Follow the mealtimes.

 Vegetables like white pumpkin, bitter

gourd, matured ash gourd, leafy vegeta-

bles are good to include in the diet.

Wheat, old rice, barley, green gram,

sugar candy, cucumber,

Fruits like gooseberry, dry grapes, black

grapes, sweet lime, pomegranate, fig,

dry fig regularly can help acidity.

Take an adequate amount of fluids like

pomegranate juice, amla juice,

Medicated water with coriander seeds.

One teaspoonful of ghee with warm

milk

 Take adequate sleep & rest

 Practice Yoga, Pranayama, meditation &

exercise regularly

Don'ts (Apathy) Avoid excessive spicy, sour, and salty

substances

Avoid fried and junk food items

Do not remain hungry. Avoid fast.

Do not overeat; take small frequent

meals.

Avoid untimely and irregular food habit

Avoid foods containing an excessive

number of garlic, salt, oil, chilies, etc.,

very often.

Avoid curd rice and sour fruits as it can

increase pitta in the body leading to

hyperacidity.

Avoid lying down immediately after

food and in the supine position. The

best-recommended position is left lateral

Avoid smoking, alcohol, tea, cof-

fee

Avoid stress.

he makers of 'K.G.F: Chapter-

1' starring "Rocking Star" Yash

never anticipated that their work

would get such a massive

response across the country. The

movie was one of the highest

grossing Hindi dubbed movies

after 'Baahubali: The Beginning'

and 'Baahubali: The Conclusion',

thanks to pan-India release. The

magnum opus garnered two

National Awards and collected Rs

175 crores worldwide in the first

two weeks of its theatrical run,

thus becoming the highest-gross-

ing Kannada film of all time. And

now that 'K.G.F: Chapter-2' is

slowly nearing its release, fans

believe that the movie will surpass

Baahubali's all-time collection.

Ever since the release of

'K.G.F: Chapter-1', directed by

Prashanth Neel, Yash garnered a

massive fan following not just in

Karnataka but across the country.

His die-hard fans and followers of

the K.G.F franchise were eagerly

waiting for the teaser of 'K.G.F:

Chapter-2' to release for more

than a year and flooded the social

media with trends and hashtags

during the COVID-induced lock-

down. The teaser of the Yash and

Sanjay Dutt starrer got released on

the eve of Yash's birthday and

went viral in no time. As soon as

Prashanth Neel announced to

launch the teaser on January 8,

fans went berserk and left no

stone unturned to convey their

excitement. However, things did-

n't go as planned as the teaser got

leaked online and the makers

dropped it a day before. Despite

that, the official teaser crossed 72

million views and got 2 million

likes within 24 hours. It even

became the most liked teaser in

the history of South Indian films

beating the likes of 'Master',

'Sarkar' and 'RRR'. The teaser is

going strong after crossing the

huge benchmark of 125 million

views on YouTube.

The mob drama

The two-part fictional mob

drama traces the journey of India’s

most dreaded gangster, Rocky,

who, after losing his mother at an

early age to poverty and sickness,

develops an unending urge for

violence and power. Apart from

Yash and Sanjay Dutt, the film

also features Raveena Tandon,

Srinidhi Shetty, Prakash Raj,

Malavika Avinash, Achyuth

Kumar, Ayyappa P Sharma,

Easwari Rao and Rao Ramesh

among others. The film was earli-

er expected to hit the screens in

October 2020 but the pandemic

delayed the production work.

However now, on seeing the teas-

er, it won’t be an exaggeration to

say that 'K.G.F: Chapter-2' has

everything it needs to attract the

audience back to theatres. The star

power, the anticipated storyline,

the buzz around the film, and the

grandeur associated with it are just

a few elements that are all good to

expect the audience to throng to

the big screens again. The film

will be hitting the theatres in the

first half of this year. With Yash's

stardom and Sanjay Dutt's epic

transformation, the fans are set for

a grand treat in theatres this year.

Set to break records

With the terrific buzz around

the film and the huge response to

the teaser, the sequel is set to

break the existing records at the

box office. It would not be a sur-

prise if the film goes on to create

history by beating the highest-

grossing Indian film — 'Baahubali:

The Conclusion'. Now that

'K.G.F: Chapter-2' is gearing up

for its mega outing, one can’t help

but draw parallels between two of

the most successful franchises in

Indian cinema history. Over the

past few years, movies like

'Baahubali: The Conclusion', '2.0'

and now 'K.G.F: Chapter-2', all

South Indian features, have turned

the tables, and in fact, gone past a

plethora of big-ticket Bollywood

movies in terms of their scale,

reach and mass appeal. These big-

budget titles are also encouraged

by the backing of prominent

Bollywood studios. Just like the

Baahubali sequel, 'K.G.F:

Chapter-2' is also testing the

patience of the masses who have

been denied a high-octane masala

entertainer with intense drama for

over a year now.

Pan-India superstars

Within two years of their

respective theatrical releases, two

huge stars from down South, have

staked their claims to become

pan-India superstars, banking on

their larger-than-life persona.

While "Rebel Star" Prabhas

stunned the country with his awe-

inspiring portrayal of the two gen-

erations of the fictional character

of Baahubali in SS Rajamouli’s

record-smashing epic, Yash under-

went a rigorous physical transfor-

mation to ace the look of an infa-

mous, yet stylish, criminal for the

K.G.F. franchise. Besides Prabhas

and Yash, it is difficult to think of

any other actor in the South Indian

Film Industry who shot to over-

powering fame with a single

release.

T. Venkatesh

ankranti has always been a

coveted box-office date for film-

makers to release movies. The fes-

tive vibe of the Telugu States in

the second and third week of

January is invigorated by week-

long holiday. From a physical

viewpoint, consumers possess

high spending power during the

season attributing to the harvest.

This makes it the ideal period to

release multiple films. A film get-

ting a Sankranti release offers a

huge advantage as people would

be relaxed during the holiday

period and would come forward

to spend money. If a good film

gets released during the festive

season, the box-office collections

will touch the sky. Beyond the

financial viability, an irresistible

joy and energy surrounds

Sankranti releases as they are the

first major ones of the year. The

harvest festival represents "full

meals", which Tollywood and

Telugu States are best known for.

Tollywood's long love affair

with Sankranti dates back to the

1950s. For instance, Sr. NTR and

Savitri starrer 'Appu Chesi Pappu

Koodu' was a Sankranti release in

1959. Telugu cinema has come a

long way since. 60 years later, the

biopic of NTR named 'NTR:

Kathanayakudu' starring

Nandamuri Balakrishna got

released during the same festive

season. Films with big star tags

always get wide openings, howev-

er, when more than one such film

releases for the festive occasion, it

always ends up being a race to see

which film has performed better.

2020 Sankranti saw two big films

releasing - Mahesh Babu’s

'Sarileru Neekevvaru' and Allu

Arjun’s 'Ala Vaikunthapurramloo',

both of which have emerged a

success at the box office and

among fans. Usually we see only

one major Sankranti release doing

so well, in 2020 both the films

performed extremely well in India

and abroad at the box office.

2021 Releases

After a year of not much action

on the big screen, the South

Indian film industry is looking for-

ward to 2021, the year of

'Acharya', 'Vakeel Sab' and

'Radhe Shyam', among other tent-

pole films. And going by the list of

releases slated for January on OTT

and in theatres, hope floats high.

Many big-ticket films of stars such

as Vijay, Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi,

MaheshBabu, Jr. NTR, Mohanlal,

DulquerSalmaan ,Yash & Sudeep

are ready to entertain the masses.

On Christmas 2020, 'Solo

Brathuke So Better', starring Sai

Dharam Tej, became the first

Telugu movie to hit the theatres

post the lockdown in the Telugu

States. The release has set a good

precedent and the response from

the audience has boosted the con-

fidence of others from the industry

who are looking to release their

films in theatres. After seeing the

amazing response for this film,

four movies have

come forward for a

Sankranthi release.

Of all the tentpole

films that missed

their date with the-

atres in 2020 due to

the pandemic and

waited till 2021 to

say hello to audi-

ences, Vijay and

Vijay Sethupathi-

starrer 'Master', Ravi

Teja's 'Krack', Ram

Pothineni's 'RED' and

Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas' 'Alludu

Adhurs', are the first in line — they

released for Sankranti.

'Krack' was, perhaps, the first

star-hero Telugu film to hit the-

atres in 2021. Unfortunately, the

makers had to face last minute

tensions and the film got clear-

ance only from second shows.

Fortunately, 'Krack' has been run-

ning successfully since its release

on January 9 and has emerged a

big hit down South, the first film,

wherein the distributors would

make ample of profits, amidst the

Coronavirus pandemic. The

Telugu dubbed version of the

Tamil film 'Master' premiered on

January 13 and received a record

opening. 'RED' and 'Alludu

Adhurs' were the last of the

Telugu films to vie for viewers’

attention in Sankranti 2021 with

their release on January 14.

Though heroes mostly domi-

nate the Sankranti releases,

'Arundhati' was the only excep-

tion. The Anushka Shetty starrer,

that got released during the 2009

Sankranti season, set the box-

office on fire. Nevertheless,

Sankranti releases will remain a

celebration forever. With COVID-

19 catalysing the change in film-

viewing behaviour, Sankranti

2021 is an acid test for the stars.

Past records

Sankranti:Tollywood

money-spinnerS

Tollywood’s indefatigable

obsession with Sankranti releas-

es and the prestige associated

with it is second to none.

Sankranti which is famous for

its cockfight (Kodi Pandalu) is

the battleground for stars. The

saga of Sankranti movies and

the story of the magnificent hits

scored by the matinee idols

cross generations. Over the

years, and across inter-genera-

tional changes in the fortunes of

stars and superstars, there have

been many who have tested

their luck at the box-office test

of Sankranti films – which is

easily the biggest blockbuster

season for the Telugus equaling

the craze for a Diwali bonanza

for Bollywood and Kollywood.

Sr. NTR is the only actor in

Telugu Film Industry to hold

the record of highest number of

releases i.e., 28 for Sankranti.

He pipped Superstar Krishna by

three movies in becoming the

numero uno of Sankranti releas-

es. Apart from the legends,

Victory Venkatesh is

the only mid-market

hero who tested his

luck maximum at

the Sankranti sea-

son. In a career

spanning since

1989, Venkatesh

has had a lineup of

as many as ten films

released for

Sankranti. And

many of them have

become superhits in

his career.

Balakrishna and Mahesh Babu

stand next in the line with a few

sensational blockbusters

around Sankranti time.
