The Vice Chancellor is pleased to sanction their admission to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. The titles of their PhD research were “Mitigating the impact of agrochemical contaminants in vegetables through processing techniques”, “Efficiency of Zinc utilization in rice (Oryza sativa L.) Genotypes under saline conditions”, “Interference and management studies of Parthenium hysterophorus L. in maize”, “Mutagenesis of Indigenous Streptococcus equisimilis Isolates for Enhanced Production of Streptokinase”, “Effect of different processing techniques on buffalo whey proteins”, and “Studies on metaxenial effect and use of molecular approaches for detection of hybrids, genetic diversity and sex in date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L)” respectively. Now UAF PhD club has been raised up to 1248. SITUATION VACANT 1. Applications are invited from Pakistani Nationals who are not married to a foreign national, on the prescribed form obtainable free of cost on any working days during office hours from the office of the Registrar (Personnel Section) for One post of Research Associate with the qualification of B.Sc. (Hons.) Animal Science/Animal Husbandry/Poultry Science/DVM degree M.Sc. (Hons.) Animal Nutrition will be preferred, on Fellowship/Stipend at a consolidated pay of Rs. 32,000/- in the project entitled “Exogenous fibrolytic enzyme: Influence on chemical composition, digestion kinetics of fodder grass silage and buffaloes performance”. The application should be accompanied by attested copies of certificate/testimonials/CNIC/Domicile and a latest photograph shuld reach in the office of the Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar PI/Dean Faculty of Animal Husbandry, UAF. Applications are invited for three positions of Teaching Assistant (one for the major (Food and Nutrition) and two for the (Clothing and Textile) in the Institute of Home Sciences on plain paper along with complete biodate, attested copies of certificate and testimonials to assist the senior teachers in the Institute at the monthly remuneration of Rs. 05,000/- pm. Eligibility: M.Phil students in the Institute of Home Sciences who have good acadmeic credentials and are actively engaged in teaching/research activities relating to the discipline and have potential to assist the senior teachers. Note: Preference will be given to those M.Phil students who are not receiving any finanical assistnace from any department/agency. INNOVATIVE IDEAS COMPITITION-2015 The UAF is organizing an Innovative Ideas Competition 2015 on May 06, 2015 at New Senate Hall, UAF. Innovation involves the application of new ideas to the products or processes. Product innovation is essentially the introduction of new products or significant qualitative change in an existing product. The Innovative Ideas Competition aims at fostering entrepreneurship culture in Pakistan by motivating students to present innovations and technologies, share knowledge and further collaborate with each other for the rapid development of innovative products and services. PhD THESIS/SYNOPSIS DEFENSE 1. Mr. Muhammad Aon, Regd. No. 2005-ag-2009, PhD student of the Institute of Soil and Environmental

Sciences will defend his thesis in a seminar at the University level on 23-04-2015 at 11:00 am in the video conference room, Faculty of Agriculture. The title of his thesis is “Nitrogen and phosphorus availability to maize in biochar amended calcareous soil”. All the faculty members are requested to attend the presentation.

2. Mr. Inam Ullah, Regd. No. 2006-ag-362 student of PhD Chemistry student of the Department of Chemistry has successfully defended his thesis entitled “Synthesis of Metal Oxides Nanophotocatalyst for Waste Water Treatment” as required under the rules on 09-04-2015.

3. Zohra Kabir, Regd. No. 2006-ag-485, a PhD student in the Department of Botany has successfully defended her thesis on 18-04-2015. The title of her thesis is “Use of inhibitors of ethylene biosynthesis in improving salinity tolerance in rice”.
