SITUATION VACANT

Applications are invited from Pakistani Nationals who are not married to foreign national, for the post of one Research Associate in HEC funded research project entitled “Potential role of strigolactone (GR24) in morpho-physiological biochemical and yield attributes of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) under the saline conditions”. Applicants must M.Phil student (Botany) with minimum CGPA 3.00/4.00 at a consolidated pay of Rs. 20000/- per month. Applications along with necessary documents should reach in the office of the PI Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz, Department of Botany, UAF within 7 days after the publication of this notice. HANDS-ON TRAININGS ON MOLECULAR BIOLOGY

Molecular Care, Department of Biochemistry, UAF offers Hands-on Trainings on different techniques of Molecular Biology (DNA isolation, PCR, gel electrophorsis, recombinant DNA technology, bioinformatics) during August-September, 2015. Interested students/researchers should register at the earliest to get opportunity because of limited number of participants. First training is being held on 7-8 August, 2015. The Professors who are interested in the allotment/shifting to House No. 03-Main Road and House No. 04-Main Road are requested to convey their willingness in writing to the Chairman, Department of Estate Management upto 19-08-2015. Their case will, however be processed on seniority basis. Provided that during last year of service, whether an employee has proceeded on LPR or opted to avail leaves encashment in lieu of LPR, shall not be entitled for allotment of house at the University Campus. PLACEMENT OF PhD THESIS FOR PEER REVIEW

1. PhD thesis of Miss Asma Saleem, Regd. No. 2006-ag-207 will be placed in the office of the Chairman, Department of Botany on 04-08-2015 for one week. The title of his thesis is “Role of root applied ascorbic acid in modulating physiological and molecular responses of salt stress maize”. All interested are invited to give valuable suggestions.

2. PhD thesis of Mr. Muhammad Naeem, Regd. No. 2005-ag-260, PhD student of the Centre of Agricultural Biochemistry and Biotechnology (CABB) will be placed w.e.f. 04-08-2015 to 11-08-2015 in the office of Director CABB for one week prior to final submission for foreign evaluation. The faculty and students are invited to pursue the thesis for any suggestions/corrections.

3. PhD thesis of Miss Mehreen Gul, Regd. No. 2007-ag-930 will be placed in the office of the Director, ISES, UAF for one week prior to its submission for foreign evaluation from 12-08-2015 to 19-08-2015. The title of her thesis is “Plant growth and proteome stability of wheat under salt stress using elevated potassium fertilization”. The faculty and the students are invited to pursue the thesis for any suggeston/corrections. The suggestion received if in order will be incorporated through the supervisory committee. All the staff members and students are welcomed to read/consult the thesis.

4. PhD thesis of Mr. Hafiz Nazar Faried, Regd. No. 2004-ag-1118, PhD student of the Institute of Horticultural Sciences, UAF will be placed in Director’s office w.e.f. 10-08-2015 to 16-08-2015. The title of his thesis is “Role of salicylic acid in modulating morpho-physiological, bio-chemical and ionic attributes of potato (Solanum tuberisum L.) under different saline regimes”. All academic staff/studetsn are welcomed to read/consult and give suggestion so that thesis will be improved accordingly with incorporation of these suggestions.

5. PhD thesis of Miss Madiha Butt, Regd. No. 2003-ag-2358, PhD student of the Institute of Horticultural Sciences, UAF will be placed Director’s office w.e.f. 10-08-2015 to 16-08-2015. The title of her thesis is “Morpho-physiological, chemical and bio-chemical assessment of chilli genotypes in different saline regimes”. All academic staff/students are welcomed to read/consult and give suggestions so that thesis will be improved accordingly with incorporation of these suggestions.

6. PhD thesis of Mr. Muhammad Ahsan, Regd. No. 2004-ag-2065, PhD student of the Institute of Horticultural Sciences, UAF will be placed in Director’s office w.e.f. 10-08-2015 to 16-08-2015. The title of his thesis is “Comparative study of treated and untreated wastewater on morpho-anatomical, chemical and essential oil contents of fragrant Rosa species in peri-urban area”. All academic staff/students are welcomed to read/consult and give suggestions so that thesis will be improved accordingly with incorporation of these suggestions.

PhD THESIS/SYNOPSIS DEFENSE

1. Mr. Amjad Saeed, Regd. No. 1999-ag-1091, PhD student from the Dept. of Forestry and Range Management will defend his PhD thesis in the video conference room on 08-08-2015 at 11:00 am. All the concerned are requested to kindly make it convenient to attend and contribute for improving the thesis. The title of his thesis is “Characterization of Conocarpus species for salt affected soils”.

2. Mrs. Sadaf Altaf, Regd. No. 2003-ag-1935, PhD student Institute of Horticultural Sciences, UAF will defend her PhD thesis at University level in Distance Learning Centre-2 (DLC-2) Faculty of Agriculture on 20-08-2015 at 03:00 pm. The title of her thesis is “Somatic hybridization for Kinnow Improvement”.

3. Hafiz Abdul Wahab, Regd. No. 2012-ag-616, PhD student of the Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences will defend his synopsis in a seminar at the University level on 12-08-2015 at 10:00 am in the Library of the Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences. The title of his synopsis is “Salinity and alkalinity interaction wheat (Trit icum aestivum L.)”. All the faculty members are requested to attend the presentation.

4. Sohaib Sarfraz, Regd. No. 2008-ag-2607, a PhD student of the Department of Plant Pathology, has successfully defended his PhD synopsis at University level on 13-06-2015. The title of his synopsis was “Controlling pectobacterium based infections through quorum quenching”.

5. Miss. Farah Naz, Regd. No. 2007-ag-1421, a PhD student in the Department of Rural Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences has successfully defended her synopsis entitled “The Impact of Gender Inequality in Education on Rural Poverty in Punjab (Pakistan)” on 14-07-2015.

EXIT EXAMINATION ON AUGUST 12, 2015

The Exit Examination for all those candidates of M.Sc. degree (16 years schooling) who have enrolled the said examination in Spring Semester 2014-15 is scheduled to held on 12 August 2015 at 10:00 am in the respective Departments. All concerned departments are hereby notified that the necessary arrangements may please be made (including informing the candidates) for holding the Exit Examination in a befitting matter.

The firm/contractor who is not enlisted with the UAF will deposit an amount of Rs. 10,000/- for C-6 and Rs. 30,000/- for C-5 & above category in the University account No. 270-5/NBP, UAF Branch. Tendered rates and amount should be filled in figure as well as in words and tenders should be signed as per general direction in the tender documents. No telephonic tender or post will be entertained. Conditional tender or tender without bid security @ 2% of estimated cost in shape of deposit at call of any scheduled bank and attested copies of registered partinership and power of attorney in case of firm will not be entertained. The Executive Engineer (ECD-M) reserve the rights to reject all tenders at any time prior to acceptance. The concerned contractor shall be communicated the ground of its rejection but it is not required to justify the ground of rejection.

QUOTATIONS

Sealed quotations are invited from sales tax registered suppliers for the purchase of different items. The quotations should reach in the office of PI, “ASLP2 Social Project”, Department Rural Sociology, UAF, within 7 days after the publication of this notice. An earnest money of 2% should be attached with each quotation.
