in order to attend Northwestern, where I am pretty sure the rst year

that I am there I will complain that I want to move back to Bryan.I am ambitious though and want to achieve my goals, so I will just

have to get used to walking in blizzards. For those who still have a few

more years here I have some advice that I would give any good friend

on nding that good place in your life.

Stay away from people who bring you down and take you further

away from where you want to be. Believe in yourself because how am

I supposed to think that you are super cool if you dont even think you

    are?

Work hard in order to achieve your personal goals; I have accom-

plished everything I have set out to do because I put my heart into it.

Plus dont forget have fun with everything and add some humor to life

because if you dont youll end up crazy like Rosie ODonnell or an

awkward white man like Tom Cruise.

I only hope that I will get to see Tom hop on Oprahs couch again at a

taping of her show while Im in Chicago. As for now my only objective

is to take it easy and do as much as I can while Im still here and can

hop around on my own couches and scream about the people I love.

In less than a month I will graduate after spending

thirteen years in the public school system. Gettinghere has included its hard work, fun times, and rein-

ventions, but its all been totally worth where I am at

    now.

I am fortunate enough to have a friend who has stuck

by my side through the days when I felt so bad I didnt

want to get up and on afternoons when all I wanted to

do was jump around and eat snow cones. So, Wendy I

wanted to say thank you for keeping all my secrets and

dealing with my constant jibber jabber.

I also wanted to say thanks to everyone Ive met in

more recent years and times . . You guys are all so in-credibly unique and genuine. I love my nonsense and I

    love your nonsense too.

I moved to Bryan seven years ago and I hated it for

the longest time, but I honestly dont know how I will

leave this place and those I know and love now.

As many of you know I will be moving to Chicago

    There are 10(Answers Below)

Of course as your openly opinionated neighbor-

hood writer, you know I have my own rant on

    the Virginia Tech incident.

We all know the story of what happened, and

let me be honest with you, that rst day I felt bad,

like 9/11, where is this world coming to bad. It

feels like such a loss having so many promisingand innocent students killed.

Killed by Cho Seung-Hui. The second day is

when the teachers, policemen, roommates, and

former peers came forward to talk about their

experiences with Cho and it got under my skin.

They all described Cho as disturbed, frighten-

ing, an imminent danger to himself, and some-

    one who needed help.

As someone who has a family history of men-

tal illness it kills me to know that he may have

been crying out for help, obviously desperatelyneeding it, and never found it.

I have pretty tough skin, and the rst day I al-

most cried for the 33 people who where brutally

shot and murdered, but it wasnt until the third

day when Chos video footage came out that I

    became emotional.

It was so compelling. Cho asked Do you

know how it feels to be spit on and have trash

shoved down your throat? Do you know how it

feels to dig your own grave?

He commented that You made me do this.

Then I thought back to all of those interviews

I watched and I remember seeing cocky former

high school students say Yeah, we teased him, roommates call him a outcast, and the own pub-

lic deemed him as a loner, recluse, and monster.

If like they say, Cho was mentally disabled

from the get-go surely the actions of those

around him did not help his situation. It upsets

me that the very men who claim him to be a

monster are those who taunted him in his face.

I feel like there is good in every human being

on the earth, that we are all here for a reason

because we contribute to humanity in some odd

way. I also feel that a man can not just be bornevil. Evil takes nurturing by those around them.

I, like others, hope that tragedies like this one

are only a isolated occurrences, but since Cho is

dead we can only learn from our own mistakes,

how this event happened and what we can do to

prevent situations like it in the future.

People say your junior year of high school is the hardest. From my experiences this year, it

truly is. But of course I cannot speak for all four years of high school because I have not

entered my senior year, but I have learned a lot from this year apart from class. Its been a

transitional time for me as well. I have gained new family and friends while also losing some

of them as well. My aunt recently gave birth to my rst, rst cousin, a gorgeous little girl. My

mother has remarried and now I have a stepfather. With my new family came a new home.

My favorite addition to the family is my rst dog, a beautiful black and white border collie, named Kyla. This is also my rst year entering the best class, Journalism.

    Last semester was

    an amazing win for the

    Democrats!

    We took the house

    and history was made;

    the rst woman as

    Speaker of House,

    Nancy Pelosi.

Now many great politicians have en-

    tered for the presi-

    dential race of 2008.

    Hopefully the good

    luck streak will hold

    on until 08.

    I myself, cant wait

    to vote, although I

    wont be able to vote

for the primary elec-tions I will be at the

    polls for the Novem-

    ber elections.

    So far there are

    eight candidates in the

    Democratic race for

    the nomination. The

    real focal contend-

    ers are John Edwards,

    which is his second

    time running, and the

    rst timers the infa-

    mous/famous candi-

    dates Hilary Clinton

    and Barack Obama.

    Not to endorse any-

body, but Im hopingto cast my ballot for

    either Barack Obama

    or Bill Richardson.

    This is a very criti-

    cal election, whether

    youre a Democrat or

    a Republican, for top-

    ics like the Iraq war

    funding and the exit

    plan strategy, abortion,and immigration.

    Even though the

    election is not for

    more than a year, it

    wouldnt hurt to look

    out for the latest news

    on who could be our

    new president.

Myspace, as we all know, is

    the current cyber pandemic.

I myself do not have one

    (anymore).

    There was always something

    that really didnt make sense

to me. Is your self-esteem re-

ally so low that you need to

    know how many friends you

    have? Also posting pictures of

    yourself hanging out with your

    friends, but if your friends

    are really your friends wouldnt

    they know what you guys

    did; unless you searched for

    friends all across the globe.

    We all know those comments

go back and forth for a long

    time.

If you really must have a

myspace so you can post things

    that your friends already know

you did, I advise you to put

    your account on private be-

    cause college admissions and

things of that nature are look-

ing to see what type of person

you really are and I dont think

they want to see 30 pictures of

you in front of a mirror.

Raise your glass to the sky

    To the graduates I toast...

Heres to the friends weve lost and gained,

and the people well never know by name.

    To the bonds that weve

    made and albums we lled,

memories that may fade but never be killed.

Heres to the phone calls lled with tears, and to the hours spent talking away our fears.

To the people we thought deserved our hearts,

whom now we bash and rip apart.

Heres to the pictures in frames

    with stories to say,

that we will be sure to pack when we go away.

To the football games we have watched

beneath the lights, and our cheers and chants

    drifting into the night.

Heres to proms and dances, and high-school

    romances

To the homecoming game with all the wins in our name.

    Heres to the late nights

weve spent cramming for tests, and mornings

where coffee made up for our rest.

To the dances and events we took months to create,

the night before worries that came too late.

Heres to the tears we knew wed cry,

to the people and places we say good-bye.

To the wild and bizzare things weve done,

that we will remember to be the most fun.Heres to the letters we left unsigned,

may our identities be revealed all in due time.

To the relationships we wonder how we ever lived without,

and the crushes we look back on and laugh about.

So now it is time to place our glasses down,

put our caps on and turn our tassels around.

Listen for our names and let them echo through,

realize how fast these four years just ew.

    A Poem to the Seniors

I cant believe its graduation time! Itseems like just yesterday I was startingout as a freshman here at Bryan HighSchool.

During my freshman year, I remembermy first pep rally; cheering and chant-ing for the upcoming football game. My

sophomore year was calming and queit.I dont remember much about my sopho-more year.

Now my junior year was a totally dif-ferent story. It was the most stressful yearof my high school life.Continued below...

...Continued from abovePSAT/SAT and TAKS were both majorevents during my junior year, and Imglad that is all over with.

My most memorable memory about my junior year was when I received the NewHorizon Scholarship. I was so proud ofmyself. All my hard-work had paid off!

As you can see, there are a lot of memo-

ries that are made during high school.Graduation is a time of happiness andsadness. Its the end, but also the begin-ning of new friendships and memories.

There are a lot of things I am going tomiss about high school. Listed above arethe top 10 things I am going to miss aboutBryan High.

    Jason GalindoStaff Writer

    Everyone knows

    that Chamillionaire

    won a grammy for his

    single Ridin Dirty

featuring Krayzie Bone, but not many

people have listened to or even heard of

his mixtapes entitled The Mixtape Messiah

(released in 2004) in which Chamillionaire

disses Mike Jones in most tracks due to a

previous beef between the two involving

slander and a rap partner Magno.

Chamillionaire released a dis-free sequelto his mixtape, The Mixtape Messiah II, in

2006 that fans were able to download for

free up until the new year at chamillionair-

    eonline.com. The Mixtape Messiah sequel

features a remix to his hit single Ridin

Dirty with Akon, and a continuation of a

hit song from the rst Mixtape Messiah CD

    titled Answering Machine Part II.

As far as underground rap CDs go, this

is denitely one to add to your collection

along with his new album Ultimate Victory

which hit stores April 19th, 2007.

    Staff Writer

You Know What it is Vol. 4 is the

fourth installment in his already famous

mixtapes with the help of Nu Jerzey

Devil and Dj Skee. Unlike the preceding mixtapes Vol. 4

is a dis-free mixtape, with the exception of the last track

Body Bags. The album features singles you probably

havnt heard from known artists such as Rick Ross, Akon,

Snoop Dogg, Bun B, Just Blaze and Nas, as well as some

artists you might not know that are signed to Black Wall

Street like Eastwood, Jay Rock, Dubb and of course TheGame, a.k.a. Jayceon Taylor. With the release of his most

recent album The Doctors Advocate Game has become an

A-List rap artist that will only be propelled by his on-going

beef with G-Unit. If you like West Coast Rap this mixtape

is a must buy, and if you dont usually listen to this type of

music, listen to the clips of the songs at Amazon.com and it

might spark your interest and change your mind.

Bad News Boys This past season was Vince Youngs rookie season.Everybody was saying that it will take him some

time to get used to the system and the just of things.

They were wrong, Vince caught on very quickly to

how the game works on this level of play.

    WhenVincenally got tostart, thatswhen the

Tennessee Titans win column started to sky rocket.

Vince almost got them into the playoffs with their

late in the season comeback. I think he adjusted fast-

er than any other rookie in his draft class. Everyone

thought that Reggie Bush was getting the Rookie of

the Year Award but Vince out-shined Reggie to claim

    the award.

The Titans need good lottery picks in the draft so

Vince has weapons on offense he can work with.

Vince cant do it by himself, he needs someone to

pass it to. I think Vince can make the Titans a great

team to watch for in the playoffs.

A superstitious person might take caution that the

beloved quarterback is on the cover of the famous

game Madden. Every player put on the cover has runinto a string of bad luck, but Titan fans are hoping

that wont be so. Vince has a lot of work this off sea-

son. A lot of eyes are watching him and are looking

    for results.

The New Orleans Saints had an extraordinary

turn of events last season that ended with an early

Christmas present after getting Reggie Bush in

the draft. They were doing cartwheels when they

heard the Houston Texans were taking Mario Wil-

liams over Reggie. The Saints can use Reggie in

spots other than the obvious position of running

    back.

The Saints were surprisingly good last season

making it all the way to the championship game,

the big game before the Super Bowl. They playedthersthalfso-so,butwhenitcamearoundto

the second half they could not answer to their op-

    ponents, the Chicago Bears.

The Bears came alive in the second half and

took over the game from there and the Saints

were crushed. They turned this team around from

an okay team to a very strong contending team.

The question for the upcoming season is: Can

the Saints make it to the championship and go on

to win the Super Bowl? They have a big challengeahead of them. Many people think the Saints are

not even going to make the playoffs. Only time

will tell and we will have to see for ourselves.

Can Vince Do It?The Dallas Cowboys are going to have a tough

time on their hands next season. Loss of players

and new coaches are going to cause everything

to be a lot different than last year.

Can Romo get on track and lead his team to

the Super Bowl? Will T. O.be a offensive force

to reckon with this go around?

The boys have to get used to a new coach since

their Coach Bill Parcells just went into retirement

after this past season. The new coach Wade Phil-

lips is going to have a time trying to get adjustedto the system of the Cowboys and also making

sure a certain wide receiver is happy.

The Cowboys will have to learn to work with

    eachotherratherthanghtwitheachother,wor-

rying about everybody but themselves. It all

starts with the coach, even though he is new to

this team he has to learn to get along with them,

and know the players inside and out. The offense

players all have to be on the same page other-

wise they will have problems like they did thepast season.

    Buttheboyswillbeneandtheywillcome

together during spring training and be a con-

    tender in their division.

With summer almost here, most kids have applied for a job and

are about to begin working. On the other hand, some have de-

cided to relax and just take it slow. Some of the lucky students,

however, will get to relax and make money. Sound like a win-

win? Many Bryan High students said they plan to lifeguard and

even work at summer camps. Jobs like these are a great way tohelp other people, have fun, and still earn a little extra cash. I

recomend to all of you who think you will have a better time

sitting on the couch with the remote control in hand to get out

there and try to nd a workplace that suits you. There are plenty

of opportunities to be of service and still have a great summer.
