The evening of our Fourth Lamplighter gathering, we were once again welcomed at the home of Steve and Sue Dammann with Zack Dawes as our group leader. Standing on their back porch/Lanai you can see into Austin and beyond. An incomparable view! Sue has

done her share of baking for us as well, with decadent desserts each time we meet.

Joseph Michael Musselli

June 14, 1949

~

August 19, 2021

Husband to Debbie Musselli

Deb Musselli

Joe is survived by his wife Debbie Musselli, his daughter Sara K. Henry, (she called him Steppy Dada). His sister-in-law

Kay Newman, his niece Ronny Sue Riojas, her husband Tony Riojas, his grandnephews/grandsons Jeremiah Jeffrey

Woodward and youngest boy Maximus Noah Riojas. Both sons of Ronny Sue and Tony’s. In addition to other nieces and

nephews from my side of the family. He is also survived by his cousin Annikki Triplett. The last of their line.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Musselli and his mother, Jenny Musselli. Joe was an only child...but I be-

lieve his mom would have agreed, Joe was good enough.

Joe was born on Flag Day in Sidesbury, Connecticut. The significance of this date was never lost on him. He took great

satisfaction in this designation, as was apparent by the many colors he flew all year long.

My Joey went home to be with the Lord today.

After a long battle with covid-19 pneumonia I released him to the Lord. It was the hardest thing I have ever done, and

those words are a cliché nowadays it is the hardest truth I ever faced.

Joe graduated Southern Illinois University in 1972 with a degree in Political Science. He was a brother in his fraternity

Sigma Tau Gamma where he served as president during the 1984-86 term and on the board for several years as well as

being a recruiter for Sig Tau. Joe met and maintained lifetime friendships from across the United States through his af-

filiation with STG.

Joe was a retired rescue diver, lifelong Lifeguard and first responder, he was by his own definition, a water rat. Joe was a

true Patriot. He loved America and her people. He was a consummate chef, expert gardener, Historian, teacher, instruc-

tor, passionate conservative, and an expert in salesmanship, motivational speaking, sales training, and a myriad of skills

rarely taught and seldom duplicated.

Joseph Michael Musselli was my husband and my friend.

We married on July 23rd, 2005 and celebrated our 16th anniversary at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center with a

coffee and dessert. It was our last celebration as husband and wife, and I thank God we were able to do it that one last

time. On the day Joe was hooked up on the ventilator I kissed his forehead and told him I loved him. He said it back,

even though he struggled to breathe at all. His final words were, I love you.

Joe has finished the race on this great planet. He’s done what he came to do. If he touched your life, you knew it, if you

met this man and spoke to him for any length of time, which if you spoke to him would be a great length of time, you

knew there was a rare and special quality about him.

Joe is no longer bound by Earth’s tiny boarders. Joe is in the mansions of the Lord. He is with Jesus. Whole, well and

teaching a class I’m certain.

Reagan Wood (R.W.) Dees stood in the presence of his heavenly Father on Sunday, August 29th after a brief illness. He was born on April 29, 1927. Those of you who knew and loved him have heard his story, or should we say “stories,” because he was a great storyteller. How could he not be? He was born under the presidency of Calvin Coolidge, saw a man walk on the moon, and spent his final years with an iPhone in his pocket! However, the final story he would want to share is what he is experiencing now: the “hope and future” that he was promised so many years ago when he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Those of us he left behind can ONLY imagine the story he is living out right now. 2 Corinthians 5:8, “…to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.” Family celebrating his life here, and in heaven, are Claire, his adoring wife and soul-mate of 29 years, children Robert Dees (Anna), Gayle Dees Millburg (Leo), David Dees (Sue), Chris Dees, Brian Dees (Julie), Melanie Stoffregen Frey (Nathan), Chris Stoffregen (Angie), and Karla Stoffregen, who eagerly greeted Reagan into heaven. Because Reagan took to heart God’s words to “be fruitful and multiply,” he was re-warded with 16 grandchildren…of which Tanara and Johnny Pat Millburg have gone before awaiting Grandpa’s arrival…and 10 great-grandchildren, plus one on the way. Our family invites you to make donations in Reagan’s honor to The Refuge Ranch – Austin, Texas (www.therefugedmst.org).

That partnership ultimately resulted in Lamar Village Shopping Center, located at 3800 North Lamar Blvd.

After closing the grocery store in December 1972, George worked as a purchaser at the Austin State School, until his retirement in December 1982. Much of his almost 40 years of retire-ment was spent on the golf course with has dedicated group of golf friends.

One Sunday afternoon the husband had two radios and the television going all at once to see and hear his favorite sports.

Later his wife said, “Dear, would you explain what the sports-caster meant when he said Carter batted a line drive through the goalpost for a par three?”
