NAPLAN RESULTSAll students in Years 3 and 5 who participated in this years national testing program (NAPLAN) havereceived their individual results. Each envelope contained an explanatory guide for parents to helpinterpret the results. If you have any further queries or concerns, our Year 3 and 5 classroom teachers

would be more than happy to elaborate on any of the results; in some instances you may wish to makean interview time with your childs teacher if you feel further clarification of the results is required.During 2010-13 our school has had a very strong focus on further developing many areas of ourLiteracy program. I was delighted to see that our overall achievement in Reading and Writing in Year 5was one of our highest performing areas for the school. We were also really pleased to see that ourintervention and extension strategies this year were having a strong impact on student learning, withless students performing under expected levels, and more students achieving at significantly higherlevels than expected in most areas.

In summary, our school achieved above state mean results in Year 5 Reading and Writin g. Icommend the work of our fantastic staff who continue to work so hard to personalise the learning foreach of our students in order for them to be highly engaged and successful learners. There is much to

consider in these results but most areas demonstrate a positive improvement trend. I hope you findyour childs NAPLAN results to be an informative snapshot of your childs achievements.

Student SafetyPlease take the time to regularly remind your child/ren about safety, especially when going to and from school. Here are the important points to mention:- Do not to talk to strangers and never accept a ride from a stranger, or accept lollies or gifts from a stranger.

    - Immediately report any issue or problem you may have when going to or from school, to your mum and dad, orto your teacher, the Principal, Assistant Principal or office staff.

    - Always get permission from mum or dad before going to play with a friend after school and always let mum and

dad know where you will be and what time you will be home.

We advise that, wherever possible, children should travel to or from school with an adult or with their friends,

    rather than travel alone.
