orientation towards life leads to thefeeling that we are victims ofcircumstances or fate. In order toregain your power you need to switchto what Fritz calls the orientation ofthe creative and the individual who
lives out his life in such orientationbelieves that he can make choicesindependent of the circumstances. We tend to get used to thingshappening to us that we forget thatwe can control our own lives. This isespecially relevant to our emotions:we dont need to be at the mercy of
our moods and feelings.Conclusion
The trouble with us is that we wasteso much of our time getting boggeddown by our emotions. To quoteColin Wilson:
We habitually exaggerate theimportance of present difficulties. We seldom feel relaxed andhealthy enough to a clear, objective view of own lives. Theconsequence is that we are
always working below ourmaximum level of efficiency.By taking control of our emotions andminimizing the degree to which weindulge in negative emotions (allnegative emotions are basically aform of self indulgence), we becomevastly more effective and efficient
human beings. Positive affirmations,if taught to our children, will enablethem to break away from the clutchesof passive inactivity, by making themown their emotions and not feel forthem.
