A lot of things changed in our life and we had to get used to different things. In line of that we changed our newsletter, so check it out and enjoy. We had to get used to different kinds of changes: new shops where we buy the groceries now, no trainees around us, a smaller house, crèche for Amy, office hours for Ben, time for friends and church,… Because of so many changes, we felt quiet stressed from time to time. In the beginning of January we went to our yearly OM retreat. During this week we talked about some work- related changes and we had some business meetings. It was great to see OMers from different regions. This week is always a great opportunity to catch up. It is amazing how much can happen in a year's time and it was great to listen to some of the testimonies. The weather (summer) was super and Amy loved to play with the other kids. As soon as we picked her out of her bed, she opened the door and off she went. It was a great retreat area and we didn't have to worry about Amy. The new house is lighter and warmer compared to the one on the Base. Besides that, our health improved tremendously. The most important reason is that there is no mould in our new house. Ben coughs less; Amy's rash stopped completely and Anne's allergic reaction is gone. We are also thankful that we feel safe here. Now we have to remind ourselves that we have to transfer the rent or need to get electricity. Or we have to get the caretaker when something breaks. On the Base everything was done by OM. Bülow‘s Buschtrommel

Dear friends,

It is early April and we survived a couple of months of our “completely different, new life”.A lot of things changed in our life and we had to get used to different things. In line of that we changed our newsletter, so check it out and enjoy. We had to get used to different kinds of changes: new shops where we buy the groceries now, no trainees around us, a smaller house, crèche for Amy, office hours for Ben, time for friends and church,…Because of so many changes, we felt quiet stressed from time to time. In the beginning of January we went to our yearly OM retreat. During this week we talked about some work-related changes and we had some business meetings. Although the days were full it was a nice variety in our daily routine. Ben got the chance to talk about his new job (“Global Action Team leader”).

House situationFrom Nov – Jan we had to prepare ourselves that nothing works according to our schedule. Our new house worried us a lot. An OM couple decided in November to move from a 3 bedroom house into a smaller apartment.

We wanted to rent their place. In the middle of December we could finally sign the contract. But the problem was that the couple didn't find something right away. We had a little bit of pressure because the Base needed our house for new leaders and we wanted to move asap.

thOn the 20 Jan we moved into our house.

Our new houseThe house is perfect. It has a lot of garden for Amy, has 3 bedrooms, 20 min walk from the office, a nice security complex and friends of ours live close by. There are two pools and tennis / squash courts that we can use. The new house is lighter and warmer compared to the one on the Base. Besides that, our health improved tremendously. The most important reason is that there is no mould in our new house. Ben coughs less; Amy's rash stopped completely and Anne's allergic reaction is gone. Changes for AmyAmy also went through a huge transition. She is used to a lot of people and now it is only us. She sees her babysitter friends now only 1 – 2x a week. Her bedroom and the garden are way smaller than at the Base. Since January she started to go twice a morning to a crèche. It is an English speaking crèche and she has 11 other children in her class. Her teacher's name is Debbie. Debbie is a quiet, nice lady in her 40's. They best thing is – that she is a Christian. In the first weeks Amy cried a little whenever we dropped her off but that stopped. Amy is picking up more and more English. It is nice to see that Amy likes the place. Another thing was that we got rid of her dummy. With all these changes in her life, she managed very well. Amy is still growing nicely.

Changes for AnneThe change in Anne's life were great and stressful. In the beginning of the year she went a couple of times to the shops to get stuff for our house. Some friends gave us money so that we could get furniture and other things. Now we have everything we need. Anne's daily schedule got turned around completely. At the base she was more flexible, and she could do the work as she felt like it . Now everything has a stricter timetable. A lot of the things she can only get done in the evening. Anne enjoys the days in the Personnel department. She is responsible for all the foreigners who want to join the Training. She gets in contact with the other OM offices, writes Visa letters or helps the Personnel Manager. It still takes some time until she makes contact with other Moms and women from her church. But she is busy trying all kinds of things.

Changes for BenBen has a lot to do with his new job. It is great that he got the help from Esther (South Africa) and Jennifer

(USA). The first Global Action team started last week. A family from the Netherlands moved to Cape Town, and we are praying that more people will join them in July. Ben has to bring a structure into the whole Global Action Department. They will try to send the other teams to different cities. These teams will work with youth leaders. They try to reach the South African youth with sports and other creative things. In the last weeks Ben visited a couple of organizations who used to take Short term volunteers from OM. These volunteers are now also part of his job description. Most of the organizations work with AIDS orphans, and street children.

Other things on the scheduleLast week he visited one of these orphanages. When Ben entered the room, two of the smaller boys ran straight into his arms. The overseer told him that they don't have enough staff to give all of these orphans enough individual care time. You could really feel that these children long for love and attention.Ben had the opportunity to talk to some Youth pastors before the next “Teen Street” in June. Ben and a team of OMers will travel through South Africa. Together they try to give these pastors a vision and a heart for the African youth. A lot of pastors view a “Youth service” as a service with loud music! And because of that young people don't attend their churches. The training is great and Ben gets reminded of the times where he could work with the youth in his church.

All in all there are less than 70 days to the beginning of the World Cup – it is exciting!

Greetings and blessings,

Ben, Anne und Amy Bülow
