Walking in the Park
Walking in the Park is a duet for the oboe and bassoon. The idea is to suggest a strolling in the park leisurely. There are three sections in this piece: section A is from bars 1 to 34, in which the tempo is moderato and the tonality is A minor. Section B (Allegro), in A major, is from bars 35 to 50. Section C is from bars 51 to 55 serving as a transition with its modulation back to A minor, back to the final section A’ (bars 56 to 66) which is in A minor. The techniques of counterpoint are used in this piece freely. The roles of the two instruments are similar to a duet, where they both play the melodies, with question-and-answering phrases. The length of this piece is about 2’38”.
