I would also like to thank the dedicated staff of Wallington PS for their contributions in the lead up to the fair and on the day. We are still tallying the final profit but it will be a successful year and I will announce the total once all the bills have been received. Our final meeting will be held on Tuesday 17 th March at 6pm in the staffroom. If you were a supervisor for an area please make sure you provide feedback on your area to help us improve for 2021. School Council Nominations Results We thank individual members of our community for nominat- ing for the recently advertised vacant positions on our School Council. The number of nominations have matched the number of advertised vacancies so we are not required to conduct an election. I would like to welcome aboard Daniel Peyton (new member), Catherine Kjaerstad (continuing) and Glenn Smethurst (continuing). It is also most appropriate to thank our retiringCouncil member and former President Kellie Tobin for her efforts to support school policy, monitoring, planning and improvement actions. Prep 2020 Enrolments We have begun taking enrolments for Prep for next year – both from siblings of current students and from new families to Wallington. If you have a child currently attending 4 year old kindergarten and are looking to enrol them for Prep 2020, please complete the enrolment forms which are available from the General Office. Labour Day Long Weekend The school will be closed on Monday 9th March for this public holiday and classes will resume Tuesday 10th March at 9 am. Do our children know what Labour Day is all about? Labour Day is an annual public holiday that celebrates the eight hour working day, a victory for workers in the mid-late 19th century. The argument for the eight-hour day was based on the need for each person to have eight hours labour, eight hours recreation and eight hours rest. Contd Pg 2 ..

Art Smocks Only 3 more weeks of Term 1 and there are a lot of students who still don’t have an art smock at school to wear during their art lessons. It is required that every student has an art smock as we will be painting, printing or using messy materials during the year. If you would rather not buy an art smock you can use an old shirt that has long sleeves. Please re-member to write your child’s full name and class clearly somewhere on the smock. There is a bag or container in each classroom for your child to keep their art smock in during the year. Thanks for your support, Michelle Bishop
