Greetings from A South African Winter!
Hello Everyone,
I’m writing this message from my little cottage on a wine farm in Stellenbosch, South Africa! I want to talk a bit about teamwork today. Without a great team it is impossible to accomplish anything worthwhile and I’m so blessed to have that in my leadership team with Women’s Council of Realtors. When this opportunity came up to spend three months on the other side of the world I was hesitant to say yes with all my WCR duties. I had a meeting with our President Elect, Marianne Lilly and she quickly agreed to fill in for me while I was gone. As I watch the communications and events from afar I see such good things happening. I see people stepping up to the plate and agreeing to help in a small or a large way! A huge thank you to Marianne for doing such an amazing job in my absence. I think the side benefit from this trial by fire is that in 2015 when she is president she will have all the experience she needs to do a fabulous job! Also, a big thanks to the rest of the leadership team. One member in particular, Lisa Mirando jumped in earlier this spring when we had to quickly find a new secretary. She’s learning quickly and doing an outstanding job with that role. Lastly, I’d like to thank Laura Frantz for agreeing to be the editor of our newsletter! When everyone does their part the whole thing comes together in a wonderful way.
Please mark your calendars for a few key dates coming up in September. On the 4th at our breakfast business resource meeting we have Sherri Meadows, Florida Realtors 2014 President, joining us for an informal coffee chat on leadership at a high level. Then, on the evening of September 13th you wouldn’t want to miss our annual fashion show. Come out to have a great time at “Dinner at Tiffany’s”! Tickets will go on sale soon.
It is so strange to be in the southern hemisphere (almost to Antartica) and to have winter in July. I’m so grateful it doesn’t snow here, but they haven’t heard about central heating yet! I’m having the experience of a lifetime and can’t wait to share what I am learning from these wonderful agents and people here.
Miss you lots and can’t wait to be back in balmy Punta Gorda the first of August!

This year is passing very quickly and there are some very exciting events coming up. It isn't too early to consider
where WCR will take you next year! Soon the nominating committee will be meeting, so if you have an interest in
being on the Governing Board, please consider what office you might hold, or what committee you might chair. I'm sure you enjoy the meetings and social events. When you
are on the Governing Board, that is "Stepped Up a Notch." Along with the responsibility comes, rewards, recognition, good times, and memories that you will cherish. Please

We would like to offer our condolences to Margo Tobias Grimshaw and her family in light of her husband, John’s passing.
Margo’s most recent update: 6/29/2014: Thank you to everyone for your love and prayers. Taking John off of life support today at 11:00 so he can be at peace. Thank God for family, who are all here. Our son, John Jr., his brother, Skip, and sister, Judy, and I will all be at Englewoods on Dearborn Restaurant & Bar Thursday night at 6:00 PM to say Goodbye to John. If you would like to stop by, we would love to see you. Englewoods on Dearborn was our favorite place to go and listen to music and enjoy seeing all of our friends. John was a very special, loving, kind and generous person and he will be missed so much. He always called me The Pretty One but he really should have called me The Lucky One.
