Tropar of the Resurrection, Tone 8You descended from on high, Merciful One. You accepted the three-day burial to free us from our passions. Lord, our Life and Resurrection, Glory to You.

Tropar of the Dormition, Tone 1In giving birth, you preserved your virginity. In falling asleep, you did not forsake the world, Birth-Giver of God. You were translated to life, Mother of Life, and through your prayers you deliver our souls from death.

Tropar to Venerable Euthymius, Tone 4Rejoice O barren wilderness and be glad sterile desert, that has never known the travail of birth. The man of desires has multiplied your sons; He has planted them in faith and piety. He has watered them with the Holy Spirit; They grow in self-denial and perfect virtue. Through his intercessions, O Christ God, preserve Your people in peace.

Kondak of the Resurrection, Tone 8By rising from the tomb, You raised up the dead. Adam is risen and Eve exults in Your Resurrection. The entire world celebrates Your rising from the dead, Greatly Merciful One.

Kondak of the Dormition, Tone 2Neither the tomb nor death had power over the Birth-Giver of God; she is ever watchful in her prayers and in her intercession lies un-failing hope. For as the Mother of Life, she has been translated to life by the One Who dwelt within her ever-virginal womb.

The parable of God’s forgiveness calls us to “come to our-selves” as did the prodigal son, to see ourselves as being in a “far country.” Away from God’s House and to make the journey back to God. We are given every assurance that Our Heavenly Father will receive us with joy and gladness. We must only “arise and go” confessing our sinful and self-

afflicted separation from the home where we truly belong.
