How to look up music on your Smartmusic account

1) Log onto your account – this is what the home screen looks like.

2) To look up something specific, type it into the Find Music Search bar on the right. To browse, click on “solos” on the left-hand side. (you can also look up band music, vocal music, sight reading exercises, etc)

3) This will take you to a page that looks like this:

You will want to choose your difficulty level from the left hand “filter” menu. I suggest that grade 6s choose Very Easy, 7s choose either Very Easy, Easy or Medium easy (depending on your level) and grade 8s pick from Easy, Medium Easy or Medium. Feel free to look further into the difficulty if you’d like!

4) Choose a genre from the drop-down menu. There are some cool pop/rock and Soundtrack options for you or feel free to choose some classical music or whatever else interests you!

Here is what pops up when I choose Medium Easy and Pop/Rock:

Now, I will choose what piece I’d like to try out – Click and then choose “open” – you will then be given a drop-down menu called “movements” – choose which song you’d like to play – I’ve chosen “Gonna Fly Now” from Rocky. Click Open.

Once open, you can choose what speed you’d like to play, whether or not to have the accompaniment play along, your part play along and the metronome play along. Play for fun and then record yourself to test out your accuracy – correct notes appear green and incorrect notes appear red. (Only in Record mode)
