Managing Crown Gall in Grapes : 9:40 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The winter damage of 2014 means that crown gall will rear its ugly head in Ohio Vineyards in 2015 and beyond. Nationally recognized expert in crown gall of grape, Dr. Tom Burr, Professor of Plant Pathology at Cornell University will provide an update on this disease. Break: 10:30 to 10:45 a.m. An Update on Grape Disease Control: 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. Dr. Mike Ellis, OSU Professor Emeritus, will update producers on grape disease control. Learn the latest in chemical and sustainable disease control options. Producers are encouraged to bring their disease management questions. Weed Control: 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. Dr. Doug Doohan, OSU Weed Specialist, will discuss managing weeds in vineyards. Learn what is new in weed control and learn strategies for controlling weeds where lots of renewal shoots are present. Risk of New Soybean Herbicide Traits to Grapes 11:45 to 12:00 noon Les Ober, OSU Extension Program Assistant and Certified Crop Consultant, will help producers learn the risks of new soybean herbicides and the potential risk to grape growers. Lunch : 12:00 to 12:45 in Western Reserve Room “Create your own” baked potato with a variety of toppings including cheese, sour cream, chopped bacon and green onions. Your creation will be served with assorted salad greens, grilled chicken, select dressings & toppings, fresh fruit platter, rolls and butter. Using Rootstocks to Your Advantage: 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. Dr. Peter Cousins, grape breeder at E. & J. Gallo Winery, will help producers learn more about rootstocks.
