Dear Parents and Carers,
This morning our school celebrated Refugee Week, by hosting a whole school breakfast. This year’s theme for Refugee Week is ‘Share a meal, share a story’. Thank you to all the families that have contributed to this event this morning.
Refugee Week is an incredible opportunity for the whole nation to celebrate the contribution refugees make to our society, while raising awareness, remembering and honouring the often perilous journey that refugees have taken to reach Australia.
At LEPS we have over 10% of the student population that come from a refugee background. These students and their families make wonderful contributions to our school through their diverse cultures and experiences. Some of our refugee students arrive at LEPS having never attended school before and it is encouraging to see that in such a short time our students make friends, learn english, adapt to school life and thrive.
This week I would also like to acknowledge all our educators and office staff that continually go above and beyond to support our refugee families both in the classroom and community. What an amazing school we have!

MCE Talks Shop With The IGA
On Monday 3 June, MCE class attended an excursion to the Springdale Heights IGA.
The purpose of the excursion was for students to use social skills to ask staff where to locate
certain items within the store.
The students did a great job at completing this task and our excursion was a wonderful success.
