EXP Gold Rush

Students must write a full formal lab

report.

Use the Reaction in a Bag as a

reminder of format and charts

(materials and SDS).

Prep THROUGH Data Table.

(see next slide for details)

Page 14: Week 2 · Week 2 Quarter 3 Unit 4: Bonding (Resource: Chapter 7, 8)(including Nomenclature and Basic Chemical Quantities) (Resource: Chapter 9, 10)

Lab Report Reminders

• Hypothesis: Be specific about what you are doing (if...) and what you expect (then...)

• Materials: Must be in a chart form

• Pennies are chemicals, also.

• Steel Wool is being used as a tool (to clean pennies) so can be listed as a tool or as a chemical.

• Safety: Must be in a chart form

• Even though Steel Wool and Water are also chemicals, only find the SDS for Zinc and sodium hydroxide (and ADD the additional information noted on the lab into the chart where it belongs)

• Do NOT forget to add a section about the dangers/hazards and precautions of/ for using a hot plate.

• Permission Granted to Copy:

• Concept and Skills

• Procedure Steps 1 – 8

• Complete through the data table.
