The Jimboomba Times have advertised our Christmas Mass times in their respectable volume. Unfortunately, they got them WRONG! As you would know the Open Air Vigil is at St Clare’s Primary School Grounds at Yarrabilba, and not at St Cathe- rine’s at Jimboomba. The 8:30am Mass on Christmas day is at St Catherine’s at Jimboomba and not at St Clare’s at Yarrabil- ba. So if you are talking to locals please let them know that the Masses are as follows: Christmas Eve- Carols from 5:30pm and Mass at 6:00pm Open Air Mass at St Clare’s Primary School at Yarrabilba – bring a chair or rug to sit on. Christmas Day at 8:30am – Mass at St Catherine’s at Jimboomba. I hope people are not confused by the unfortunate notice in the Times. See how we go NICENE CREED AT THE CHRISTMAS MASSES At the Masses of Christmas Day we will use the Nicene Creed. This statement, or symbol of our faith, dates from the two great ecumenical Councils of Nicea (325AD) and Constantinople (381AD). While it is longer than the older Apostles’ Creed, it contains deep and clear expressions of who Christ is, both God and man. The word ‘consubstantial’ is used to clarify that Jesus Christ is of the same substance or nature as God the Father; he is fully di- vine. At the same time, Christ is consubstantial with us because he has our human nature; he is fully human. The other state- ments about Christ in the second paragraph of the Creed pro- claim that the relationship between him and the Father is truly one of father-son; a relationship from which proceeds the Holy Spirit. This relationship has always been; it is eternal. Christmas Day is one of the two days of the year on which we kneel at the words “and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate…” By this gesture we express our wonder, our humility and our gratitude that God became man for our salvation. Gathering Hymn: GA287 O Come, All Ye Faithful Psalm Response : For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord Recessional Hymn: GA404 Christ Be Our Light Merry Christmas to all. On behalf of Fr Paul, our dedicated Parish Office Staff, Barb, Jean and Kelly, and myself, take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones, a Happy and Holy Christmas filled with the joys of the Season. I pray also that you experience a New Year filled with the great promises of God in your lives.

7:30am MASS ON SUNDAY— Park Ridge and Regents Park. At this point in time I am having some difficulty in ac-cessing a Supply priest for the two 7:30 am Masses on Sunday Morning. Until I can do so, the two Masses will have to be alternated, sharing the time-slot every fortnight. On Sunday 31st December the Mass will take place at OLA at Park Ridge at 7:30am, and the 7:30am Mass at St Bernardine’s will take place on Sunday 7th January. Hopefully I can alleviate this situation before too long. We will just have to wait and see. *Students for the Priesthood, coming from families in OUR parish would go a long way to address some of the concerns our Archdiocese is facing at the present with regards to the shortage of Priests. Moms, Dads, think about it. Would you guide your son into minis-try today?

Ministry Matters—2018 In a few short days, a New Year will begin. 2017 will have become part of our history and 2018 will have been born for us. This will be a Year filled will a great variety of opportunities for all of us to get a little more involved in the life of our Parish. It is The ‘Year of Youth’ and much will happen to draw our young people into a deeper relationship with their God. July of 2018, will see the Proclaim Conference taking place here in the Brisbane Archdiocese. Parish-ioners are encouraged to attend and be formed and informed about the life of our Church into the future. 2018 will also see the re-development of a Pastoral Leadership Team who will work with the Parish Staff and myself, again to form and inform your parish for ministry today. There will also be the usual activities of our Parish, Sacramental Formation, Prayer Groups and other events that will invite parishioners to be in-volved. 2018, perhaps here for us in this parish, is a ‘Year for Everything’ and it is just around the corner. So this is the time for us to get ready. This is the time

for us to step up and get involved. Ministry Matters for you and for me. I will see you on the other side of 2018. So get ready and get involved.

God Bless Fr John

Let’s get together
