Welcome to News on the Ninth

Dear Parents/Carers,

What a beautiful Bank Holiday weekend – I hope you all managed to enjoy the sunshine!

The children have all returned settled and happy from the Easter break. The Year 5/6

residential seems a long while ago and, although it was very cold and wet, the children

had a fantastic time. A huge thank you to Miss Saunders, Miss Bailey, Mrs Halmshaw

and Mrs Cawley who accompanied the children and helped to create some wonderful

memories.

We had to say a sad goodbye to Miss Forder, our midday supervisor, last term but we are

pleased to welcome Mrs Pearson as her replacement. We wish Miss Forder all the best in

her new role. We are also pleased to welcome Mrs Maxey who has joined our relief

MDSA team.

Our Key Stage 2 children took part in a cluster netball tournament this half-term and dis-

played fantastic skill and team-work. They only just missed winning and came away with

a very respectable second place. Well done to all those involved.

As the weather is now warmer we have sent out a uniform reminder to all parents. A uni-

form has been welcomed by parents as providing a smart and standard form of clothing.

This also helps to foster a spirit of belonging and sets a tone. We are very proud of our

uniform and hope that you can help us by ensuring that your child/children are wearing

the correct clothes and shoes. If you are ever in any doubt, please ask your child’s class

teacher or the office who will quickly solve any queries. Please could you also ensure

your child brings a named water bottle to school.

The summer term is traditionally a very busy time with sports day, end of year concerts

and transition days to name but a few. Dates which have already been confirmed are at

the back of this newsletter and we will let you know any others as soon as possible.

We look forward to a very enjoyable, but busy term!

Kind regards

Mrs S Medler

The Leopards have been lucky enough with funds raised by ‘Friends’ to have been provid-ed with some partridge eggs as part of the partridge conservation project. They have en-joyed watching them hatch and looking after them. The Leopards have been learning about why partridges are endangered and are working on a class piece of artwork representing the partridge food chain.

From Monday 26th - Wednesday 28th March, the Leopards class went on their residential to Norfolk Lakes. They had a fantastic time doing a range of activities including kayaking, archery, caving and climbing. The children's behaviour was impeccable, even when at times they were freezing cold!

Dear Parents / Carers,

Good luck to all the children who are currently entering into the SATS tests, I’m sure they will do brilliantly.

As our previous letters have stated Dianne has been keen to retire as chair, however, as no-one is able to take on the role at present, the current ‘Friends’ team will continue their roles. Shutting the friends would be a tragic loss as the money raised supports all our children. Going forward the ‘friends’ would like to thank all the parents and carers for all their help and support and we will be asking for your continued help and support to enable us to hold future events. Anyone who is willing to become part of the ‘friends’ or help at events please do speak to the of-fice or any ‘friends’ member so we can ensure you stay informed and involved.

With renewed energy the ‘friends’ would like to introduce a new exciting event for all the children to enjoy and raise funds for the library at the same time! We will be holding a sponsored bounce in the school hall on 12th June from 1:30pm. The aim is for the children to bounce as many times as they can within a minute. The child from each class who raises the highest amount of sponsorship will win a £5 Waterstones voucher. A little treat from the ‘friends’ will be given to each child following their bounce.

A little reminder that the Kenninghall club 200 lottery is going well but there are still lots of numbers available. Please do buy a number and encourage family and friends to get involved as this makes a big difference to our fundraising for the children. Please see any ‘friends’ member or Mrs Tomkinson in the office to buy your num-ber. It is now £8 for the rest of the year as there are now 8 lottery draws left for 2018. A list of numbers available will be put up on the ‘friends’ board. The prize money increases with the numbers sold!

The end of year BBQ (previously leavers BBQ) which is open to the whole school will be held on the 23rd July straight after the concert. Volunteers to help at this event would be gratefully received, please sign up on the list that will be put up on the ‘friends’ board.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for the ‘friends’ please let us know. Good luck everyone with your spon-sorship.

Many thanks,

The ‘Friends’
