From the Pastor…
W ork-shopping Deacon Rick and I will be attending
the annual Clergy Workshop at the Arrowwood in Alexan-dria from Sunday evening until Wednesday noon. Our theme this year will be “Together Communicating the Gospel in Today’s World”. Our presenter will be Fr. Timothy Radcliffe, OP. Those of you who attended the Ministry Day in St. Cloud last Monday heard him as the keynote speaker. Tri-parish office staff will be able to reach us in case of emergency, and Fr. Art will be available as usual in the rectory at St. Rosa. Please keep us in your prayers as we con-tinue to explore effective ways of sharing the Good News today!
O ne, Two, Three, Four… That’s what the ushers
will be doing from the choir loft and side aisles at masses during the five weekends of October. The Diocesan Planning Advi-sory Council uses those figures to determine parish needs, espe-cially with respect to the number of masses (and therefore number priests). Unfortunately the mass counts in July and October only reflect what happens when Immaculate Conception has two week-end masses and Sacred Heart only one. Perhaps we should do our own count during January-June. Please see the article on page 3, of the Visitor this week for an interesting article on Sunday Masses.
A Biblical Walk through the Mass 65 persons
from 44 households signed up for last week’s session, but for a number of reasons, only two thirds of them were able to attend either the Wednesday evening or the Thursday morning session. While attendance at the Thursday morning session was very small, it does seem important to try to find a time for a second evening session. Most of those unable to attend Wednesday could not meet on a weekday morning. If you missed a session, please read on.
M issed Wednesday’s Session on the Mass?
No Problem! You can still catch up with a 40-minute mini-session this coming Wednesday evening at 8:30pm in Sacred Heart Church basement (right after the parent coaching session for grades 1-6). You will be able to pick up your materials and still have time to read them and get ready for the next session on Wednesday, Oc-tober 12. You are also welcome to come and simply check out our DVD presenter, Edward Sri. Please call the tri-parish office for more information. Response to the first session has been very good. would like to have materials for the remaining four sessions.
A Blessing of the Animals, Feast of St. Francis, Oct. 4
Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures. On the fifth and sixth days of creation, you called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air and animals on the land. You in-spired St. Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters. We ask you to bless the animals and all living creatures. By the power of your love, enable them to live according to your plan. May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation. Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen
From Deacon Rick….

interested in registering for the RCIA (Rite of Christian Ini-tiation of Adults) program, please contact us ASAP! We would like to start the RCIA Program in early November. If you have any questions about the program, please contact Dcn Rick or June at 836-2635.

Sanctuary Lamp Restoration Thanks to a donation from the estate of Ed and Carmella Worms, the hanging sanctuary lamp will be polished and refinished in their memory. The lamp was removed Thursday by our “candleman” Tom Boerboom and sent to a metal refinishing company. We had to tie the cable down to prevent the counter-weighted cable from rolling up into the ceil-ing. When the refinished lamp returns from its trip to Chicago, we won’t mind the wait.

Produce Good Fruit Vineyards and vine dressing are familiar in many places. In Scripture, they are favored ways of speak-ing of the Trin-ity’s care for the Lord’s gathered and covenanted people. In to-day’s readings from Matthew and Isaiah, the yield of the vineyard is spoiled. In response, Jesus notes he has become the cornerstone of a new structure and have been given to a people who will produce good fruit. May God’s incomprehensible peace be in our hearts and thoughts. Baptized in Christ We welcome
Sawyer Joseph Hoppe, the son of Jason
and Heidi Hoppe, to our parish. Sawyer was baptized on Saturday, September 24.
Donors are Welcome to contribute
to the following special needs of our parish. For more information please see Fr. Roger or one of our parish trustees.
Tray Warmer Not all the food for the
school lunch students—or fundraising meal guests—is ready at the same time, and not all diners arrive at the same time. If left on the counter top, food gets cold quickly. The solution is a “tray warmer”, glass enclosed with a humidifier to keep trays of food warm and moist until it is served
New Treads for NW Stairway The
steps from the school-side entrance down to the basement are the most used steps in the church. The well-worn vinyl treads have split open and may soon trip someone. New Treads are on order and should be here soon.
Church Boiler Water Reservoir We should have an estimate on this auto-matic system to automatically keep the water
level in the boiler constant so it won’t shut down because of a low water level during those long cold winter nights and surprise us with a chilly church in the morning..
Wanted Girl Scout Leader We are looking for someone to be a Girl Scout Leader in
the Freeport area for Kindergarten and First Grade girls. There are a couple girls interested, but we need a Daisy Troop Leader! If you are interested in getting something started it would be a great opportunity for girls!! Please contact Crystal Sand at 320-266-5554 if you have questions.
