WE ARE IN NEED OF ADORERS!!!

Reflections by Monique Sammut

“Christ Jesus, who, though He was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be

grasped. Rather, He emptied Himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness; and found hu-

man in appearance, He humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross. Because of this,

God greatly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus

every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that

Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:5-11

The month of January is dedicated to the Most Holy Name of Jesus. The Name of Jesus is sacred and should

be revered. However, over time, His Name has become carelessly used as another expletive, an expression of

surprise or annoyance. We hear the Name of Jesus quite often, but many times it is used in a disrespectful or

demeaning manner.

As we begin this New Year, we can all make a dedicated effort to respect and honor the Holy Name of Jesus. When we hear others take His Name in vain, we can silently say a word of love and honor to make reparation

for the carelessness and disrespect of others. We should also remember, that as an unknown author said, “[Jesus] is as close as the mention of His Name.” Jesus is always with us. However, in times of darkness

and difficulty, when we seem alone and abandoned, we only have to whisper or silently say the Name of Je-sus, and He will be by our side as we invite Him into our lives and our everyday moments. This year, let us celebrate the Holy Name of Jesus: the Name that gives us peace, hope, and eternal salvation.

No 8am Mass and No Confessions on Wednesday, January 8th!
