Dear BCE Family, Friends and Staff: How can it possibly be October already!? Pumpkins and au- tumn leaves... and a Hoedown at BCE! There is a lot coming up at Bluff Creek including Parents as Partners Night. MEA is right around the corner followed closely by Fall Conferences and our Autumn Book Fair. Details on these dates and more can be found in this newsletter. If you missed our presentation at Family Night you can click over to our website to view it now. 1st Ever Dickey’s Night - The Results! Thank you to everyone who came out on September 30 to en- joy some Texas BBQ and support the Bluff Creek PTO and the Playground. The staff at Dickey's didn't seem convinced when we told them there would be a big crowd, but they believe us now! And they promise to be even more on their game next time. Dickey's tells us that Tuesday, September 30 was the busiest day in the history of their store. They increased our portion of the sales to 20% and told us that all other fundraisers they have hosted couldn't hold a candle to the Bluff Creek Lions. Thanks to all of you, we raised nearly $400 dollars. Thank you Lions! You are Roar-some! 2014 Chanhassen Storm Homecoming Parade The PTO is so proud of our Lions! Bluff Creek participated in the Chanhassen Homecoming Parade for the first time this year. Our Lions were so spirited that they won BEST Elemen- tary Representation in the parade! Way to go Lions! Parents as Partners - Tuesday, October 14 Join us as Bluff Creek Elementary and the PTO cooperatively present Parents as Partners. The presentation will be preced- ed by a General PTO meeting. The PTO meeting will be an op- portunity for parents to provide feedback and input on our 2014 fundraisers held to date. Scholastic Book Fair The Fall Book Fair begins online on October 17 and at school on Oc- tober 23. Visit our online book fair at http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/bluffcreekelemsch. Book orders placed online will be delivered to school after the close of the sale on November 3. Our book fairs aren't just opportunities for our students to get their hands on great books. It's also a way to fill our Media Center with new, interesting and inspiring materials. Every dollar you spend at the Book Fair helps fund our Media Center. You can also donate a book to a student in need or to your child's classroom. Please come down and see what's new! Community & Kindness Day Student Directory is Here! Watch for your 2014-2015 Bluff Creek Student Directory to come home with your eldest student. Each family will receive one directory. Students with dual households will receive two di- rectories. Please remember that the directory is intended for use by Bluff Creek fami- lies only and should not be used for any other purpose. We hope you'll join us for Parents as Partners on Tuesday, October 14. A presentation on internet safety will be preceded by a General PTO meeting at which we will be discussing fundraising, a recap of the fundraising to date and a look over our event calendar. We will be distributing a survey to give the PTO Board important input from our parents. We are always in need of dedicated volunteers and the month of Oc- tober is no exception. Please watch for emails from Volunteer Spot to sign up for a variety of opportunities. If you do not currently re- ceive Volunteer Spot emails, please click here to sign up on our website. Andrea will team with our current VP, Holly Brown and bring incredible support to our Co-Presidents and board as a whole and we couldn't be more excited about it! Andrea is the mother of three boys, including twin first grad- ers at BCE. As a former business owner, she brings a powerful talent for organization, fi- nancial consciousness and leadership to the Board. Andrea attended the University of Notre Dame and is a proud Fighting Irish alumni. Please welcome our new Treasurer! Karin O'Hara has joined our board and we are thrilled. Karin is a Vice President of Accounting for a major insurance provider. She is the mother of three, her oldest being a kinder- gartner at BCE. Karin also brings non-profit experience with her, making her a tremendous asset to our Board. Karin is a University of St. Thomas alumni and was once a resident of Boston, Mass. Be a Volunteer!

Where does the time go?

Dear BCE Family, Friends and Staff:

How can it possibly be October already!? Pumpkins and au-
