Galatians 4:4-5
But when the right time came, God sent His Son, born of a
woman, subject to the law. 5God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that He could adopt us as his
very own children. NLT

Colossians 1:24
I am glad when I suffer for you in my body, for I am completing
what remains of Christ’s sufferings for his body, the
church. NLT
2 Corinthians 4:8-10
We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not
crushed and broken. We are perplexed, but we don’t give up
and quit.
9We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get
knocked down, but we get up again and keep going.
10Through suffering, these bodies of ours constantly share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen
in our bodies. NLT
Joy is generated by humility. People lose their joy when they become self-centered, thinking
they deserve better circumstances or treatment
than they are getting.
That was never a problem for Paul. Like all of God’s great
servants, he was conscious of his unworthiness.

2 Corinthians 1:5-7
You can be sure that the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. 6So when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your
benefit and salvation!
For when God comforts us, it is so that we, in turn, can be an encouragement to you. Then you can patiently endure the
same things we suffer. 7We are confident that as you share in suffering, you will also share
God’s comfort. NLT
1 Peter 4:12-16 Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going
through, as if something strange were happening to you.
13Instead, be very glad—because these trials will make you partners with Christ in his sufferings, and afterward you will have the wonderful joy of sharing in his glory when it is displayed to all the world.
14Be happy if you are insulted for being a Christian, for then the glorious Spirit of God will
come upon you. 15If you suffer, however, it must not be for murder, stealing, making
trouble, or prying into other people’s affairs.
16But it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called
by his wonderful name! NLT

If you lose the joy of walking with God when suffering for Him
it is because you have lost connection with the source of
joy (Jn 15).
Meditation & Application
If you want to glorify God you must
expect to suffer.
