In the spirit of acquainting all of you with our property, I was able to dig up a little info on the building his-tory. Mind you, my wife and I have only owned and lived in the building under3 years, but there happens tobe a nice little history there...
According to the PD- 10 Document, this SpanishColonial Revival Duplex was built around1928, probably a date provided by the CountyTax Assessoror anoth- er City Of fice that keepsthe records. My wife Cherie had done a littleresearch at the library and had found phonerecords going back to about 1923, so the truedate really leaves a few question marks and is yetto be determined. In one of its more memorablestates, the house was owned and run as the"V ictorian Tea Company" during the mid90's, where afternoon Tea Party Classes wereheld, along with other events relating to NationalTea Week and Themed Teas forevery season. Thisenterprise existed in the lower unit, where pre-vious owners Barb and Jim remodeled the kitchenin a charming manner, reflecting the classic tile work of the earliereras. It is still in place today. We ourselveshave re-landscaped the backyard into a mini-resort for entertaining, complete with waterfeatures, jacuzziand BBQ Island. If it is a warm evening this Dec. 17th, perhaps we may even spend a little time out back. Wewill certainly leave it open forall to explore and enjoy. Hope to see you there!
