What a great time to be alive in Wimberley, Texas! I hope this time of year is filling you with hope and optimism, but if you need a bit of a boost, take heart because Easter is almost here as well. Easter is the repeated reminder that in the words of a great old hymn, “All Must Be Well.” It must be well because that which we fear the most-death-is defeated. We don’t court death, nor are we in any hurry to meet it. We recognize that it is an ending, but the resurrection of Jesus is our surety that death does not have the last word. Our God, in Jesus Christ, has beaten death. First Corinthians 15 deals more with the resurrection of Jesus than any other chapter in the bible. Here is one thing Paul says about it in relation to death in verses 54-58: “When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, be- cause you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” Paul taunts death! I remember seeing an interview with the boxer George Foreman about his fa- mous match with Muhammed Ali. After several rounds of punching Ali with everything he had, Ali softly said to him as they were clinched together, “Is that all you got, George?” Foreman said in the interview that in that moment even though he had dominated the match up to that point he knew he had lost the match. He knew it because it was all he had and that Ali had been saving his energies for the onslaught that would follow. Paul taunts death in the same way. Even though death has dominated human experience until that point, the resurrection of Jesus has changed everything for us. It frees us to “give ourselves fully to the Lord,” because we don’t have to live in fear anymore. All must be well, because our God has come near, tasted death and hell for us, and has come out to lead us forth from the grave. Fear not! Enjoy this wonderful season. Determine to live more freely and fearlessly. It is your birthright as a child of God. Yours in Christ, Pastor Clint

Spring is here-Market Days are back-Daylight Savings time has begun- days are warming up-evenings are cool, bluebonnets are blooming. What a great time to be alive in Wimberley, Texas! I hope this time of year is filling you with hope and optimism, but if you need a bit of a boost, take heart because Easter is almost here as well.

Easter is the repeated reminder that in the words of a great old hymn, “All Must Be Well.” It must

be well because that which we fear the most-death-is defeated.

Here is one thing Paul says about it in relation to death in verses 54-58:

“When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, be-cause you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

Paul taunts death! I remember seeing an interview with the boxer George Foreman about his fa-mous match with Muhammed Ali. YOUR SESSION AT WORK March, 2011

The Session approved the release of Amanda and Christopher Holmes to their previ-ous home and church in La Grange. The minutes of two previous meetings were approved. Keith Haney and Clint Regen will represent Wimberley Presbyterian at the Presbytery meeting in San Antonio. The Stated Session meeting date will be changed to third Thursdays starting in May because of other constraints, but the April meeting will stay on the 7th because the April third Thursday will conflict with the Maundy Thursday Service. The renewal of the Presbyterian Outlook subscription was dropped from two to one, and elders may elect to be withdrawn from the distribution list. Committee Reports: Fellowship: Potluck Wednesdays will begin April13 and then be continued monthly on third Wednesdays. They proposed a Pastor’s Discretionary Fund be instigated. Moved to Steward-ship for review and accounting incorporation. Outreach Committee: Committee members helped serve 20 workers at the Amigos de Je-sus Breakfast Tacos event. Next service project will be Cookies for Teachers on May 9th. A work day will be scheduled for maintaining our Star Meadows cabins at John Knox Ranch. Stewardship: Financial reports need more lead time, which prompted the change to third Thursday session meetings. The February report numbers are unverified. Receipts to date are excellent. Administration Committee: Personnel reviews helped make the decision to let Allison Ireland (Nursery) be removed. Tom Gabrielsen (director of Dripping Springs High School choir) and Maria Mullins have been lined up to take our worship music program through Easter. Worship Committee: 166 received Communion on Feb. 6. The Session set the remainder of the 2011 Communion dates, to be held on First Sundays, Maundy Thursday, and Christmas Eve. Buildings and Grounds: The proposed policy on Church Facility Use is still held for review and comment. It was approved to repair and rekey all locks in only the Sanctuary Building at this time. The approximate cost would be about $250. The request to install a handrail from the Library to the Fellowship Hall was approved. Congregational Care: The new Pictorial Church Directory is distributed. The committee re-quested that three members be moved from inactive to active membership status pursuant to their having returned to worship and participation. Approved. Discipleship: A presentation of the proposed changes to the Youth Room was heartily ap-proved by the youth and the Session. Linda Richter (committee chair) was authorized to pro-ceed as project manager, with the redo not to exceed $5000. Old Business: The Building Use Policy is still being reviewed, but it’s passage must be com-pleted before the re-keying of the office building can proceed. New Business: The Session concurred with previous policy not to allow any product to be sold on the church premises for which income does not directly support Church functions. Keith Haney Clerk of Session

Sunday, May 1, 2011.....What does that have to do with Wimberley Presbyterian Church?

Are we having worship that day? Yes.... What about Communion? Yes, we will observe Communion on that day. Is it May Day? Yes, but we don’t usually con-sider that a holiday. In the not-too-distant past May Day was celebrated by dancing around the Maypole and crowning the Queen of May. We won’t be do-ing that, although the kids might enjoy it. What we will be doing is celebrating the 20th anniversary of our church’s founding. We are planning a reception af-ter church that day with a slide show, sandwiches, cake, deviled eggs, etc. Hopefully some of our charter members will be able to attend, as will Kim Kirchoff, the woman who designed our sanctuary, and Jack Hollon, who made

the front doors. Of course the new sanctuary was built after we had been worshipping in the shopping cen-ter for several years. Ken Allison, Jan’s father, wrote a history of our church, which will be available for perusing. Come enjoy food, fellowship, and fun, as you learn about how our church began. Annanette Harper
