WelcomeWith nearly 400 acres of water, Wimbleball has something for everyone. It’s a place where you can walk, fish, sail and cycle, or just simply relax with a good cream tea and enjoy the views.

There is a children’s play area just a short walk from the tea room and plenty of space for games and picnicking. Visitors can also enjoy the miles of paths including a nine mile circular walk around the lake and the Woodland Discovery Trail. The bird hide near Bessom Bridge has a level path with ramp access for all to enjoy. Look out for our Birds of Wimbleball leaflet and our informative Walks and Cycle Trails leaflet.

Please note dogs are most welcome at the lake but must be kept on a lead and out of the water. There is a small charge at our car parks (a season permit is available from 01566 771930).

Welcome to Wimbleball Lake, on the eastern edge of Exmoor near Dulverton.

Anglers will be in their element at this nationally renowned stocked rainbow trout Lake, one of our three premier trout fisheries, set in peaceful and tranquil surroundings.

With miles of bank, plenty of inlets and boat angling, Wimbleball is an experience not to be missed.

The largest fish to be caught is a fantastic 12lb 13oz rainbow, and rod average for 2008 was 3.62.

A full day permit costs £20, with a concessionary rate of £16.50 per full day. Under 16s can fish for just £4 when sharing their guardians’ bag limit.

Day permits are available from the Angling and Watersports Centre. Anglers wishing to use a rowing or powered boat should book at least 24 hours in advance on 01398 371460 or book online at swlakestrust.org.uk. (Boats not always available seven days per week)

At Wimbleball we have a Wheelyboat available for hire. These boats provide easy access to the water for people with disabilities, particularly for those using a wheelchair. The boat does require advance booking.

The Trust often runs angling tuition in conjunction with the Environment Agency. Look out for posters on site, visit our website swlakestrust.org.uk or contact the Centre for future dates.

Further details on angling at Wimbleball and our other fisheries can be found in our trout fishing leaflet, available on site or by calling 01566 771930, [email protected]
