Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art with a strong focus on grappling. Descended from Judo and developed in Brazil for generations by the Gracie family, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu exploded in popularity in the United States due to its success during the early days of UFC (Mixed Martial Arts Competition). Brazilian Jiu Jitsu eventually became world famous as one of the most effective martial arts in the world and an excellent way for a smaller, weaker practioner to overcome a larger, stronger one without serious injury to either person.
