Luke was a 1988 graduate of West Bend West, lettering in cross-country all four years. He qualified for State

three times, placing 6th during his senior year. He held the fastest 5K time at West for 25 years.

Luke was the Wisconsin State High School Champion Nordic Skier twice, Junior National Champion three

times, and competed in the World Junior Championships beginning his sophomore year in high school. Also

during his high school career, Luke won the American Birkebeiner Half-Marathon (Korteloppet) in Hayward,

Wisconsin.

Luke graduated from the University of Utah in 1994 where he earned two individual NCAA

Championships while competing as a Nordic skier. Luke participated in the 1992 Olympic Games (France) and

the 1994 Olympic Games (Norway), and he later published a book about his experiences.

In 1996, Luke joined the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) in Park City, Utah, and he

served as its Nordic Director. As of 2008 he held the position of Executive Vice-President, Athletics - with

responsibility for 13 distinct skiing and snowboarding disciplines. The teams that Luke led have won 38

Olympic medals to date.

Luke was a member of Salt Lake Olympic Organizing Committee (SLOC) in 2002. In 2011, he was inducted

into the University of Utah Athletic Hall of Fame.

Penny was a 1982 graduate of West Bend East. Penny earned twelve varsity letters in

volleyball, basketball, and track. She was recognized as a first team all-conference performer

for the track and field team in 1979-1982 and for the volleyball team in 1980-81. She was a

second team all-conference player for the basketball team in 1981-82 and a member of three

volleyball, one basketball, three indoor and four outdoor track and field conference

championship teams. Penny also won 25 individual track and field conference and county

championships in the high jump, hurdles, 400M dash, 800M relay and 1600M relay. At the

WIAA State Track and Field meet she competed in the 200yd. and 300M hurdles finishing 5th

as a freshman, 6th as a sophomore, 2nd as a junior and 2nd as a senior. She was chosen as the

Outstanding Female Athlete in 1982,

Penny was a three-year starting point guard in basketball and a three-time Track and Field All-

American in the 400M hurdles and 1600M relay at UW-La Crosse.

Laurie was a 1986 graduate of West Bend East. She earned nine varsity letters in volleyball, basketball, softball and track. Laurie was recognized as an all-conference performer for the East volleyball and basketball teams in 1983-1984. Her sophomore year she started on the Class A State Championship volleyball and basketball teams. During her junior and senior years she sustained a knee injury which limited her playing time.

In 1986, Laurie accepted a scholarship to play basketball at the University Wisconsin-Green Bay. While at Green Bay, she was introduced to the sport of Team Handball. Focusing her energies on Team Handball, Laurie accepted an opportunity to train with the US National Team Handball team in 1989. This led to being selected as a member of the United States Olympic Team as a goalkeeper. Laurie represented the United States in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain and the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dean was a 1988 graduate of West Bend East. He earned six varsity letters in

Football, Basketball and Track & Field. Dean was recognized as an all-conference performer for the East basketball teams in 1987 and 1988, and named Wisconsin Little Ten Player of the Year his senior year. Dean was also named third team All-State his senior year and played in the WBCA All-Star game.

In 1988, Dean accepted a full ride NCAA Division One scholarship to play basketball at the University Wisconsin-Green Bay. While at Green Bay, he played on two conference championship teams and participated in post-season play three years – two NIT tournaments (1990 and 1992) and one NCAA tournament (1991). Dean was selected to the Mid-Continent Conference second team all-conference his senior year. After graduating from UWGB, Dean played professionally in Finland. Dean is married to Ashley and they have three children, Grace, Jacob and Charlie.
