Guidelines and Policies
Wolcott Mill Historic Center is a popular site for wedding ceremonies and pictures. The beautiful grounds and historic buildings will create a memorable setting for your wedding day. Your ceremony is a very important event, and we want it to be a wonderful memory. The policies herein reflect the park’s main purpose: To serve the public as a historical interpretive facility. In keeping with this theme we ask you to review and follow the guidelines and policies. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask for clarification. All rules and regulations must be followed. The decisions of the Historic Center will be final in any situation concerning the location, use of the facility, and what may or may not be permitted at the site.
Ceremony Rules1. Weddings at the Historic Center will only
be permitted on days or times that do not conflict with certain programs or special events at the mill.
2. The wedding site must be located as not to block or hinder public access to any facilities. Approval is required for all locations.
3. The insides of buildings are not available for use, with the exception of the gazebo. A canopy may be erected with prior approval, and must be removed the day of the ceremony.
4. All weddings will be open to the public, i.e. park patrons using the mill facilities cannot and will not be excluded from observing the ceremony. It should be noted that public use during this time may cause noise and congestion in the area, which may interrupt the ceremony.
5. There are no changing facilities available in the park. Wedding member’s must arrive fully prepared.
6. Rice, confetti, birdseed or other materials may NOT be used. The area used for the ceremony must be cleaned immediately after its use.
7. Reception facilities are available at Camp Rotary.
8. The park closes promptly at 5 pm. Ceremonies must be completed, photos taken, all items removed and guests out of the park by closing. If you wish to extend your wedding time beyond 5 p.m., there is a $50 per hour fee. This must be pre-arranged with the park.
9. The Historic Center does not provide chairs, canopies, or decorations. Employees cannot accept or be responsible for any deliveries. Deliveries and removal times must be approved by the park supervisor.
10. The gazebo may be decorated without the use of staples, nails or similar items. Decorations must be removed after the ceremony.
