HOD Speak Dear Readers,

"To lose patience is to lose the battle”

As rightly quoted I would say be little more patient, we would defi-

nitely win this battle of pandemic and soon the things will be normal.

The teaching pedagogy today inculcates collaborative learning, with

a focus on group discussions, just-a-minute sessions, puzzles/

paradoxes roles, quizzes, fish bowl exercises and formal debates

which increase student involvement and comprehension. Needless

to say, with academics we also conduct good co-curricular activities

through EESA, IEEE and other committees.

It is very unfortunate that the world is facing an unprecedented time,

and I greatly appreciate your understanding and flexibility as the

situation continually changes. The current circumstances we live in are unknown to us all and they

bring a lot of uncertainties and new challenges with them. Even during this unprecedented time,

me and my department made sure that the academic program has continued to the best extent

possible through this online medium.

As we all prepare to navigate the days ahead, I want to take a moment to make sure that, in this

extraordinarily demanding and stressful time, you are taking care of yourself, specifically as it re-

lates to your emotional well-being. Taking an advantage of “ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT” I would

encourage all my students to take some challenge and develop some project which can be con-

verted into product further helping out the society and make VIT proud.

Student Speak:

I got inspired to enroll in VIT by the motto 'Provoked by Intellect,

Propelled by values'. After the orientation program, I got excited to be part

of VIT.

As a fresher, everyone including me, was a little nervous about whether I will match with the college environment or not, but that fear was gone from day 1 due to the support and help provided by First Year Depart-ment. Whether it comes to study or related to co-curricular activities, the FE department always comes with a unique idea to connect with students and to give knowledge. After getting familiar with all the class, I got an opportunity to be the repre-sentative of my class. It was a new experience as I got the responsibility of my class. I had to maintain a good relationship with the students as well as with the professors. I also took part in Freshers’ events, attended the freshers' eve. I completed a winter internship provided by the Electronics department. Before the internship, I was considering myself a techie guy but when I started to work on the project, I came to know that I just know the tip of the Iceberg. There is a lot more to learn! That 7-day internship period boost-ed my confidence to do something new. Unfortunately, this pandemic started, and everything changed. Offline teaching changed into online and along with that, we started our sem 3 in Online mode. It was difficult at the start but as the days passed, This pandemic taught us that nothing is permanent even jobs too. Based on your skills, companies will decide how you can be an asset to them. So, I considered this as a golden opportunity and improved my skills in the technical as well as in the non-technical domain. College provided us Coursera and EDX course subscriptions through which I learned new things and improved my knowledge. College also organized Value Added Courses (VAC) for every do-main. I attended some of these sessions and gave a final touch to every topic which I learned over the Internet. I handled the position of Event Coordinator at IEEE-VIT's Flagship Event, IRIS'21. This was the first time in my life where I coordinated with everyone in the committee and made it a huge success. It was a new experience, and I will be thankful to IEEE-VIT for giving me the opportunity. I actively participated with my great team in online hackathons such as the Swadeshi Micropro-cessor Challenge, EdTech hackathon by IIT Bombay, IBM Hack challenge, V-hackathon where we received special mention, Hackatronics by EESA where we were the winners. All these events made me believe that that winning or losing the competition is not important. The way how you approach the solution, that thinking process is important. Our team has the motto just like ISRO, "Give your best, prepare for the worst". I am lucky that I got the best people from my class. Every-one fell apart due to lockdown. But salute to the enthusiasm of all the professors!! They always kept our hope high and never stopped working. Because they know that Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today! Hope so when everything will become normal, the first thing I will do is to grab a coffee from CCD and will enjoy it with my friends in the gymkhana!!!
