    Young Democrats of America Hispanic Caucus (YDAHC)RESOLUTION 2013-02Presented to the Young Democrats of America National Committee at the YDANational ConventionAugust 11th, 2013IN SAN ANTONIO, USAResolution SUPPORTING

    THE IMMEDIATE APPROVAL OF S. 744, the

    Border Security, Economic Opportunity,and Immigration Modernization Act

    The Young Democrats of America National Committee hereby finds, determines and declares as follows:

    Whereas Millions of undocumented immigrants have suffered the consequences of a broken immigration system that has

    deprived hard working immigrants the opportunity to have a fair shot at the American Dream and has divided families due

    to unjust deportations along the way.

    WhereasTheimmigrationreformbillS.744wasintroducedbySen.CharlesSchumer(D-NY)intheUnitedStatesSenate

    onApril16th,2013andco-sponsoredbysevenmembersofthe"GangofEight"abipartisangroupofU.S.Senatorswho

    wroteandnegotiatedthebill.

    Whereas The bill would make it possible for many undocumented immigrants to gain legal status and eventually

    citizenship. It would also make the border more secure by adding up to 40,000 border patrol agents. It would also advance

    talent-based immigration through a points-based immigration system.

    Whereas The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office estimates the reform bill would reduce the US fiscal deficit by

    US$197 billion over the next ten years and by $700 billion by 2033. Its report also states that, if this bill becomes law, US

    wages would be 0.5 percent higher in 2033 than under current law. The Social Security Administration also has stated the

    legislation would help add $276 billion in revenue over the next 10 years while costing only $33 billion;

    Therefore, be it resolved: The Young Democrats of America and its entire national, state and local leadership urges the

    United States Congress to:

    Section 1: Facilitate the immediate approval of S. 744, the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and ImmigrationModernization Act;

    Section 2: This Resolution was approved unanimously by the Young Democrats of America National Committee onAugust 11

    th, 2013.
