Dear Alice,
I hope this letter finds you in the best of spirits. I am sorry I have
not been writing as regularly as I should.
Last month, I moved to Sydney to go to university to study fashion
designing. It will take me about six months to complete the course. I
was wondering if you would also like to come and join me in Sydney and
do the course. After all, you have always been one of the most
fashionable people I know. Wouldn’t it be great if you could turn that
passion into a rewarding career?
Recently, fashion has become an important part of our lives and there
is such a huge demand for fashion designers. Because lots of people
what to become a designer, you won’t be able to do it without the
qualification. Although this is a short course, it is a very important
qualification to have. Excitingly, it will be really fun to do this
together and enjoy the sunny weather in Sydney! Let me know what
you think.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Kind regards,
Sammy.

The Greatest Show Comprehension

Lyrics:
Ladies and gents, this is the moment you've waited for (whoa)
Been searching in the dark, your sweat soaking through the floor (whoa)
And buried in your bones there's an ache that you can't ignore
Taking your breath, stealing your mind
And all that was real is left behind
Don't fight it, it's coming for you, running at ya It's only this moment, don't care what
comes after
Your fever dream, can't you see it getting closer
Just surrender 'cause you feel the feeling taking over
It's fire, it's freedom, it's flooding open It's a preacher in the pulpit and your blind
devotion
There's something breaking at the brick of every wall it's holding
All that you know, so tell me do you wanna go?
Where it's covered in all the coloured lights Where the runaways are running the night
Impossible comes true, it's taking over you Oh, this is the greatest show
We light it up, we won't come down
And the sun can't stop us now
Watching it come true, it's taking over you Oh, this is the greatest show
(Whoa) colossal we come these renegades in the ring
(Whoa) where the lost get found and we crown them the circus kings
Don't fight it, it's coming for you, running at ya It's only this moment, don't care what
comes after
It's blinding, outshining anything that you know
Just surrender 'cause you're calling and you wanna go
Where it's covered in all the colored lights Where the runaways are running the night
Impossible comes true, intoxicating you Oh, this is the greatest show
We light it up, we won't come down And the sun can't stop us now
Watching it come true, it's taking over you Oh, this is the greatest show
It's everything you ever want
It's everything you ever need
And it's here right in front of you
This is where you wanna be (this is where you wanna be)
It's everything you ever want It's everything you ever need And it's here right in
front of you This is where you wanna be This is where you wanna be
Where it's covered in all the colored lights Where the runaways are running the night
Impossible comes true, it's taking over you Oh, this is the greatest show
We light it up, we won't come down
And the sun can't stop us now
Watching it come true, it's taking over you
This is the greatest show
Where it's covered in all the colored lights Where the runaways are running the night
Impossible comes true, it's taking over you Oh, this is the greatest show
We light it up, we won't come down
And the walls can't stop us now
I'm watching it come true, it's taking over you Oh, this is the greatest show
'Cause everything you want is right in front of you
And you see the impossible is coming true And the walls can't stop us (now) now, yeah

Emoji Spelling task – Homophones
First of all, think to yourself what is a homophone? Can you tell everybody in
your house and see if they know?
Below I have decided to use emojis to represent homophones. Can you go onto a
phone/ipad/computer and search different emojis to use for these homophones:
• Medal/meddle
• Missed/mist
• Peace/piece
• Plain/plane
• Here/hear
• Great/grate
• Ball/bawl
• Berry/burry
You could draw them, copy them from google onto a word document, do them on
a phone/ipad. Get creative and send me what you have done.
Can you think of your own homophones to find emojis for?
Activity 1: Watch Play Like Share, Episode 1
• Find Play Like Share at www.thinkuknow.co.uk/8_10/watch/
• Watch Episode 1: Block Him Right Good, Alfie with your child.
• Use the following questions to chat about the cartoon:
o What did you think? What did you like about Play Like Share?
o What different things do Sam, Ellie and Alfie do online? [E.g. make videos,
talk to people, learn to sing, share their songs] o What problem did Alfie face at the beginning of the cartoon? [Another
gamer messaged Alfie, asking to game with him. Alfie said no as he had to go to school]
o How did the gamer make Alfie feel? [Happy at first and then
uncomfortable and worried when he started making threats] o What did Alfie do when he realised something wasn’t right? [Didn’t reply.
Told a trusted adult, his mum. Blocked the gamer. Reported to the website.]
o What happened when Selfie’s video was made public? How did it make
them feel? [People they didn’t know wrote nasty or strange comments. Received links to adverts. They felt worried and uncomfortable.]
Activity 2: Design a poster for Selfie
• Create a poster for Sam, Ellie and Alfie’s new band Selfie. Come up with a
design that shows off each character’s talents and personality.
• We’d love to see your work! If you like, find us on Facebook (Click CEOP)
and share a photo of your child’s picture.
Artwork only please! Do not share your child’s name or personal information, or any pictures of your child.
