The end of the holidays saw a good turnout from parents, staff and the wider community to support the catering fundraising at the Tora Challenge. Many thanks to all those who offered their help on the day and special thanks to Tineke who did a stunning job in coordinating the food and roles for volunteers. The students have set new goals for the term and have been assessed in basic facts, handwrit- ing and spelling. These came back very positive and will ensure we try to cater for all of the students’ individual wants and needs around the delivery of our curriculum. The Board of Trustees as it stands will meet for the last meeting on 16th May before the elec- tions. Parents, please watch out for the information and nomination forms that were sent home on Monday of this week This term, the students will be looking at different ways of recycling with the aim of producing a wearable arts outfit by the end of the term. Each of the students have planned a personalised floor cushion that they will be completing over the term. The focus of literacy is on speeches based on reports. The students will also be training for cross-country to be held at Kahutara School at the end of Week 6. This term, the students will also take part in the Tuturumuri School Masterchef Competition which they are looking forward to again this year. We held a Uniform Day at the end of the term and this was well supported by both staff and stu- dents. We even managed to get our local postie, Derek, in for the photo. On a personal note, I would like to thank Josh Hawkins and his team from Martinborough Transport for sponsoring my daughter, Lauren who made the Wairarapa College 1st XI Hockey Team. Tora Challenge Fundraiser Thanks to Tineke and Stew McNeil our little school again catered for the Tora Challenge on Sunday 1 May. Tineke and Stew without all your extensive preparations, organisation and many, many hours of work this fundraiser would not have been possible, thank you is simply not enough, you guys are awesome. Tuturumuri School is grateful for the assistance received and would like to thank the following people (in no particular order): Kiri & James Elworthy and Jenny & Chris Bargh – The Tora Coastal Walk for another fundraising opportunity.
