SMSC Documentation For
Common Tasks
The HedEx package for the SMSC
contains 5 common tasks.
How many common SMSC
tasks are there?
1. Adding Number Segments
2. Adding an Other Operators' Number Segment
3. Adding an SP
4. Adding an MT Account
5. Configuring Multidimensional Schedule Strategies

For Common Tasks
1. Adding Number Segments
If new number segments are required due to service
expansion in an area, the number segments need to be
added and related data needs to be set on the SMSC.
Otherwise, the users of the new number segments will fail
to send or receive SMs.
How do I change or delete a
number segment?

4. Operation Verification

2. Adding an Other Operators' Number Segment
If other operators who exchange SMs with a local
operator add number segments, the data related to
the number segments must be configured on the
SMSC of the local operator. If the data is not
configured, the SMs that contain the number
segments may fail to be authenticated or the
routes of the SMs cannot be obtained.

3. Adding an SP
When an operator adds an SP, related data must
be configured on SMSCs. If the related data is not
configured, the SP cannot receive or send SMs
through the SMSCs.

4. Adding an MT Account
An MT account is used by a maintenance engineer to
log in to the MT Server through the MT console of an
SMSC. After logging in to the MT Server, the
maintenance engineer can manage and maintain the
SMSC. For information security, it is recommended
that an MT account be used by only one
maintenance engineer.

5. Configuring Multidimensional Schedule Strategies
Multidimensional scheduling decides the
mechanisms for processing the SMs that fail to be
delivered. Each SM that fails to be delivered has
an error code. The SMSC uses schedules the SM
according to the multidimensional schedule
strategy corresponding to the error code.
