Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah questioned why the cable car ser- vice had not been shut down as a precautionary measure because of high winds. "What terrible news," he tweeted. "It begs the question as to why the cable car operations weren't suspended in high winds. That's a laid down SOP [standard oper- ating procedure]," he posted on Twitter. PTI 4 of non-local family among 7 including 3 locals killed in Gondola accident Bhopal, June 25: Gwalior police have registered a case against a Kashmiri student over his comment on social media “supporting Paki- stan” after the Champions Trophy final. A case under IPC section 153-A (disturbing communal harmony) and the provi- sions of Information Tech- nology Act was registered against Seh Mudassar, who hails from Kashmir, after his comment on a Facebook post created tension in Mahalgaon area of the city, additional superintendent of police Abhishek Tiwari told PTI. A boy from the area -- where Mudassar, a post- graduate student of Jiwaji University, has been living for the last two years -- wrote a post on Facebook congratulating Pakistan for its victory while expressing disappointment over India's performance in the June 18 match. Reacting to the post, Mudassar made a pro-Pak- istan comment. “It created tension in the area, and the boy's parents scolded their son over the issue.” Mudassar then left for Kashmir, the ASP said. A group of ten persons allegedly visited the boy's house on Friday and created ruckus over the issue. Police registered a case against them too, Tiwari said. While nobody has been arrested, security in the area has been stepped up, he added. PTI Srinagar, June 25: Rina Mitra, special secretary, Department of Internal Security, Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), today called on Jammu and Kash- mir Governor N N Vohra here and discussed inter- nal security and safeguarding of the Line of Con- trol (LoC) in the state. Mitra, accom- panied by Gyanesh Kumar, joint secretary (J- K), MHA, met Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here, an official spokesman said. He said the governor dis- cussed with Mitra a range of issues relating to effec- tive maintenance of law and order, internal security and the safeguarding of Interna- tional Border, the LoC and the Line of Actual Control (LAC). They also discussed the increasing infiltration attempts and “growing inci- dence of terrorism in the valley, continuing attacks on the state police person- nel and the most worrying consequences following the involvement of the youth and the students in agita- tional activities,” the spokes- man said. He said they also dis- cussed the security arrange- ments for the smooth con- duct of Amarnath yatra, commencing on June 29. ASHWINI SHRIVASTAVA New Delhi, June 25: Aadhar is not a valid iden- tification document for Indi- ans travelling to Nepal and Bhutan, the Union home ministry has said. Indians can travel to Nepal and Bhutan--both countries for which they don't need visas--if they pos- sess a valid national passport or election ID card issued by the Election Commission. Moreover, to ease travel, persons over 65 and below 15 years can show documents with photographs to confirm their age and identity. These include PAN card, driving licence, Central Govern- ment Health Service (CGHS) card and ration card but not Aadhar. "Aadhar (UID) card is not an acceptable travel docu- ment for travel to Nepal/ Bhutan," a communique issued by the ministry said. The advisory assumes sig- nificance as Aadhar is man- datory for a host of things, including government subsi- dies on LPG and other social welfare schemes. The Aadhar card, which has a 12-digit unique iden- tification number and per- sonal details like name and address, acts as a proof of identification and residence. Indians entering Bhutan by road are required to obtain an 'Entry Permit' on the basis of a valid travel doc- ument from the immigration office of Royal Government of Bhutan at Phuentsholing, located on the Indo-Bhutan border opposite Jaigaon, West Bengal. The border with Nepal is an open one with people who enter the country needing to show any valid identity card. Nepal shares borders with five Indian states--Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Around six lakh Indians are living or domiciled in Nepal. Bhutan, which shares borders with Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and West Bengal, has about 60,000 Indian nationals, employed mostly in the hydroelec- tric power and construc- tion industry. In addition, between 8,000 and 10,000 daily workers enter and exit Bhutan everyday in border towns. In another development, Indians flying abroad will not be required to fill depar- ture cards from next month. However, those going out of the country via rail, sea- port and land immigration checkposts will have to fill the embarkation card. "It has been decided to discontinue the practice of filling up of the departure card by Indians at all inter- national airports with effect from July 1, 2017," an order issued by the home ministry said. The move is aimed at ensuring hassle-free move- ment of Indians going abroad. At present, those going abroad need to fill in details such as name, date of birth, passport number, address in India, flight number and date of boarding in the departure card. The decision will help reducing the time required to complete immigration related formalities by pas- sengers and also enable air- ports and authorities con- cerned to cater to a larger number of people. The need for Indians to fill such cards on their arrival in India has already been done away with.
