It being his dream home, he had an eye on all miniscule details. The client's brief expressed the desire of the house to be modest and spiritual. With limited square area available, the house had to be built vertically to fulfil all the requirements including that of a garden space connected to living space. The layout was such on first floor that every space enjoyed the garden view. Simple, plain, clean, larger and brighter'- were the adjectives in our minds while perceiving the interiors. The look was to be upbeat and timeless, with refreshingly modernistic and an Indian feel to it. Each space was given a unique look through specially handcrafted elements. At the entrance partition, Jaali is created from the solid natural wood bricks. The staircase has been well designed with solid wood & MS. Rustic feel is added through warm palette of furniture. Living area is stylish, where the furniture has been custom designed in natural solid wood. The warmth and richness of materials and the polished Australian white flooring in all areas ensures their seamless continuity. The kitchen has Italian marble on one wall and customized cabinets. In the daughter's room, one wall is highlighted using different types of wood for an ancient look. In the Master bedroom, the bed back has been casted from metal with laser cut pixel pattern. The third floor has an informal sitting along, with the two terrace gardens. Large windows capture, soothing snapshots of the surrounding, allowing copious amount of natural light. The interiors have a unified, minimal palette taking an earthen theme with shades of rust and brown, adding same toned metals such as brass & copper. Absence of any pomp generates an exhibit of innocence and comfort to the home. Eventually the space echoes a soothing, relaxing appeal and a tranquillity that is unmistakable. The façade has play of lines vertically and horizontally merging into each other. 02 | Custom made wooden hanging swing with metal jali back situated at second floor family area. 03 | Entry area foyer space with wooden grill partition. This partition jali is created by fixing individual brick shaped wooden pieces on each other randomly to compliment the exposed brick wall.04 | The Daughters room exemplifies the designer's philosophy of flaunting one wall and keeping the others clean. The wall is highlighted using different types of solid wood such as sesame, teak, oak to give the feel of ancient doors.

05 | The third floor has a informal sitting along with the small study area which is connected with the two terrace gardens on both the sides. The room capitalizes on the large windows by capturing soothing snapshots of the surrounding verdure and allowing copious amount of natural light. The family enjoys this space the most.06 | In the Master bedroom, a plethora of colored furniture typologies adds layers of character to the room. The bed back has been casted from metal with laser cut pixel pattern. The combination of louvered shuttered wardrobe along with the veneer panel behind the back is composed beguiling.

07 | Inspired from the shape of lotus, various highlighting elements were created using its shape, form & design. From the entrance, a beautiful view of exposed brick wall which is 30 feet high is perceived, with customized copper art installation along with the lights, has an alluring shape of lotus. The staircase has been well designed with solid wood and MS.

THE HIGHLIGHT

08 | Living area is stylish, elementary detailed with some fabric finishes. The main TV wall highlights the exposed plaster. All the furniture has been custom designed in natural solid wood.

A simple composition has been created by putting antique metal framed mirror, a wooden wall hung ledge and wooden console unit together. The console unit is made from solid wood.

CHALLENGESThe challenges were more design oriented due to modest land size and numerous requisites which could not be compromised.

INSPIRATIONDeeply inspired by the lotus shape, various elements were highlighted, conforming to its shape, form and design. The brass handle, art installation and hanging light fixture all revolving round the lotus form to lend it grace and beauty.
