SM6- Installation & Maintenance Guildline The switchgear’s resistance to ageing in an MV substation depends on 3 main factors:

The need for proper implementation of connectionsTheir design enables operation in polluted environments with harsh atmospheres.

The influence of the relative humidity factorInstallation of heating resistors is essential in climates with high relative humidity and large temperature differences

Ventilation controlThe grids must be sized according to power loss in the substation.

Normal operating conditions Corrosive atmosphere

Ambient air temperature

• ≤40°C• ≤35°C, on average over 24h• ≥–5°C

Environment No dust, smoke, salt, corrosive or flammable gas and vapour (clean industrial air)

Pollution:SO2 = sulphur dioxide, H2S = hydrogen sulphide

Altitude ≤1000 m (above 1000 m, a derating coefficient will be applied)

Humidity • Average relative humidity over 24h < 95 %,• Average relative humidity over 1 month < 90 %,• Average vapour pressure over 24h < 2.2 kPa,• Average vapour pressure over 1 month < 1.8 kPa

NOTE 1: Condensation can be expected where sudden temperature changes occur in period of high humidity.NOTE 2: To withstand the effects of high humidity and condensation, such as a breakdown of insulation or corrosion of metallic parts, switchgear designed for such conditions and tested accordingly should be used.NOTE 3: Condensation may be prevented by special design of the building or housing, by suitable ventilation and heating of the station or by use of dehumifying equipment.

Fixing of units with each other :The units are simply bolted together to form the MV switchboard (bolts supplied).

Refer to the Installation Guide for detail




Fixing of units on the floor: For switchboards comprising up to three units,

the four corners of the switchboard must be secured to the ground with using:o M8 bolts (not supplied) screwed into nuts set

into the ground using a sealing pistolo screw rods grouted into the ground.

For switchboards comprising more than three units, each unit may be fixed to the ground

In circuit-breaker or contactor units, fixing devices are installed on the opposite side of the switchgear.

Do not secure the cubicle to the floor on the circuit breaker side

Reduce wear & tear, maximize Safety & Availability of your Electrical equipment : Your equipment needs regular check-ups in order to maintain its original level of

performance To ensure the maintenance is conducted in the optimal way, it needs to be

executed by skilled professionals Recommended maintenance frequency of operations depends on 3 main criteria:

Equipment operating conditions Number of operating cycles Equipment’s level of Criticality

Manufacturer maintenance operations must be carried out regularly from every 5 years if operating in normal conditions, 1 or 2 years if operation in a corrosive atmosphere or not normal conditions.

Reassembly

1. Fix covers (LV Control cabinet, Operating mechanism cabinet)2. Fusibles3. Secure good fuse hublots location
