Activity 2: Identifying Plant Life

Instructional Objective:

The student will identify and order the collection of life from the pond.

Procedures:

The student will

1. Collect samples of plant life from the pond and observe them with a hand lens, microscope, ormicroprojector (for small group activity).

2. Identify and group plants according to their similarity and difference in cellular structure.

3. Classify and record the different kinds of plants seen in the pond by looking in the water from theshoreline.

4. Compare and contrast plants along the edge; e.g., floating plants and submerged plants.
