CHANGES TO MONEY COLLECTION FROM WEEK 4- 20 MAY As an audit and safety requirement our money collection process will be changing from MONDAY 20 MAY. Students will need to bring in their money to the office before school and place the money in the money collection box, rather than taking the money to class and it being brought up to the office. The office staff will keep a record of payment that teachers can access. Please remind your child of the new procedures. WALK SAFELY TO SCHOOL DAY Walk Safely to School Day will be held on Friday 17 May. Students will receive a sticker and discuss safe walking to and from school. Walk Safely to School Day is an annual, national event when all primary school children are encouraged to walk and commute safely to school. It is a community event seeking to promote safety, health, public transport and the environment. Walk Safely to School Day promotes the important message that active kids are healthy kids. Parents, carers and children are encouraged to build regular walking to and from school into their daily routine. Children need a minimum of 60 minutes exercise per day. Encouraging less driving and more walking aims to decrease dangerous vehicle congestion around schools and reduce carbon emissions from idling cars. Lastly, it is a nice way to be part of your community. LIFE EDUCATION K-2 Kindergarten, Year One and Year Two will attend Life Education van this Monday to Wednesday. Thanks to Mrs Duruz for her organisation.

NETBALL The Brisbania netball team are through to round 3 of the 2019 PSSA Netball Knockout Competition following a win against Woy Woy Primary School on Friday 10 May 2019. Brisbania enjoyed a convincing win. The final score was 28:0! The girls played exceptionally well, displaying sportsmanship and encouraging each other throughout the game.

A big thank you to Davistown Netball Club for their ongoing support, in particular to Steph Lavery who did a wonderful job as umpire on the day. Thank you also to the parents for their ongoing support and sideline cheering!

Woolworths has just launched Earn & Learn, and we're once again joining it!

For those who aren't aware of the program, if you shop at Woolworths between 1 May and 25 June, you can earn stickers. By collecting these stickers, our school may be able to order new school equipment; things like art and craft supplies, sports gear, teaching aids, and more.

If you shop at Woolworths, please collect those stickers and drop them in to one of our collection boxes. You will find one located at Woolworths Erina and two in our school office.

If you need sticker sheets, these can also be found in our school office. Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising by buying tickets for the Mothers Day raffle on Friday, and congratulations to the lucky winners! We raised $1394 from the raffle, an excellent result! Thanks to Kristie Hughes, Chloe Sapsford, Dave Smail and Gerrard Ivins for helping me to sell the tickets. Our Mothers Day stall was also very successful, raising $1601. The children had a wonderful time choosing a gift for their mum, nan and/or other special female caregiver. Thanks to Kim Hourn for all her organisation before the day and to all her lovely helpers on the day. Our major fundraiser this term is our Trivia night which is on Friday 28 June at 7pm at the Davo. Tickets are $20 per person and this includes light snacks on the tables. There will also be fun games, a raffle and silent auction. We really need to raise as much money as possible towards our new playground so please invite your friends, family, and neighbours. There is a maximum of 10 people per table - but organise more than one table if you can! Tickets can be purchased from the office or by direct deposit into the P&C bank account (BSB 032-596, Acc 218938) - please use your table name AND surname as the reference. We still need some more volunteers in the canteen as the roster for this term has several days with no volunteer. We need a volunteer on Thursday and Friday this week. Please consider volunteering one day a term or even for a few hours if that’s all you can spare. No specific experience or skills are required. Helping in the canteen is a great way to contribute to our school and learn more about the school day (and meet some of the children). If you can help please message Suzanne or pop into the canteen and see Paula or Rose (our job-share canteen managers). The canteen is open from 8.30-1.15 Monday to Friday. Our next P&C meeting is on Tuesday 21 May at 7pm in the staffroom. Please come along if you’re free. We have decided to see if there is interest for a separate Fundraising Committee (amongst parents and other community members who are interested in helping with fundraising but don’t want to attend the full P&C meetings). In May, fundraising will be discussed and planned BEFORE the P&C meeting. If you are interested please meet us in the staffroom at 6.30pm (21 May). Have a good week Suzanne Petrie Sapsford P&C President 0423 036 697
