Therefore I have spoken to the staff about how important it is for our staff and students to maintain their routines and high expectations, to ensure that this is a time of learning and celebration for everyone to enjoy. The learning time that we have available to us until the end of the year is vital to ensure that all of our students achieve their personal best. Teachers will continue to deliver an uninterrupted literacy and numeracy program for your child, and will commence core instruction at 9.00am. So that your child has every opportunity to learn and succeed, it is important that all students are in attendance and ready to commence learning at the beginning of each school day. We are currently finalising our staff for next year and in the coming weeks we will place students in their 2020 classes. We consider this procedure very carefully to ensure that we meet the educational needs of all of our students. The teachers know their students very well and they will make recommendations of possible combinations of students and then Leadership team will finalise these placements. In relation to Prep placements we have been in contact with the local kindergartens and childcare centres, we have gathered information from parents through a survey and we have been carefully observing them during their transition sessions. The next prep transition session is on Friday the 15 th of November at 9.15am. At the final session on the 10 th of December the preps will work in the classroom and with the teacher they will have next year. Help Seeking As a part of our Personal and Social Learning Program, the start of the term has seen everyone learning about Stress Management. We are now beginning our next topic of Help-Seeking. Seeking help or asking for help is so important and at Taylors Hill, there are lots of people around you that you can ask for help. Some important parts of this topic are: knowing when to ask for help (there are some things we can solve on our own) knowing who to ask for help (sometimes we can ask our friends and sometimes we need help from an adult) knowing how to ask for help (finding the right words can be tricky sometimes) knowing how to help others and noticing when someone needs help appreciating the help we receive Make the most of your learning time on this topic and practice these skills every day. It’s also important to share what you are learning at home with your family. 2020 Notice of School Transfer/Absence Planning for 2020 is well underway, so if your family is transferring to another school next year, I would appreciate if you could notify the office in writing as soon as practically possible. Dear Taylors Hill Community,

It’s a busy time of the year but “Learning Time is Important Time”

With just over 5 weeks to go until the end of the school year, there are lots of things happening at THPS. Therefore I have spoken to the staff about how important it is for our staff and students to maintain their routines and high expectations, to ensure that this is a time of learning and celebration for everyone to enjoy.

GRADE ONE DINNER On Wednesday evening, November 13th, students had an amazing time at our Grade One Dinner. We got to play lots of games, including pin the tail on the donkey and musical chairs. We ate some yummy pizza and even got a delicious chocolate ice cream! This was a great way to continue our THPS Camping program, getting ready for Grade Two Day Camp next year.

I liked how I was showing respect during the games and I was honest and sat down when I was out”

Amaronte 1E

“I really liked how we made our own name tags because everyone could find their own spot”

Harrison 1B

“I really liked the limbo because I had to bend my body really far”

Anthony 1C

“I really loved the pizza and enjoyed eating with my friends”

At our school assembly each week we celebrate our weekly attendance at school. This term our goal is to have all students at school each day and on time.

Thank you to the families and students who are consistently making the effort to arrive at school before 9am.

We understand mornings can be difficult here are some tips you can try at home to help you be better prepared for the school day ahead:

• organise and pack your school bag the night before

• have your uniform ready the night

before • set the alarm and wake up a little

earlier to have breakfast and pack your lunch

• set a time to leave home, allowing enough time to travel and arrive on time to school

Learning Centre News ! We have had a fantastic week in the Learning Centre beginning with the arrival of books from the Woolworths Earn and Learn promotion, $1,400 worth of books for the classroom libraries with around another $1,900 due to arrive later in the year. Every classroom library will receive nearly $100 worth of books! This is all thanks to Taylors Hill Primary School and the communities “sticking power”. This was a great promotion run by Woolworths benefiting local families and schools. Thank you to our local Woolworths – Watervale and both at Watergardens.

It is here for the final time this year every student should have brought home a catalogue this week, if you haven’t seen it check their bag or satchel!

A great opportunity for those who were not able to get to our Book Fair or get in early for Christmas and avoid the rush!

The catalogue is always full of popular books, activities sets and fantastic bargains!

We encourage all families to use the Scholastic LOOP facility to order and pay on-line, otherwise complete the order form with your name, grade and return to

school with the correct money.

BOOK CLUB DUE DATE: Friday 22nd November 2019

(on-line orders close the same day)

Book Reviews

During the year many students have written Book Reviews for the Learning Centre, the quality overall has been very impressive. An encouragement award for excellent effort was given to one student from Prep – 2 and one from Grade 3 – 6. Each student will receive

$15.00 Scholastic Book Club credit for this catalogue.

Well done! Elisha – Prep B and Nathan 6A

Learning Centre sessions finish for the year on Friday 29th November, please check for any lost books, overdue notices are regularly sent home. If anyone has borrowed a satchel these need to come back to the Learning Centre with the last books returned. Thank you
