Girl (17) killed in car accidentMARAPONG – A 17-year-old girl passed away when the Toyota bakkie she was travelling in overturned near the crossing at Exxaro last weekend. Warrant officer Frans Mokoena of the Lephalale police says it is suspected the driver lost control of the vehicle before it overturned. “Three people were also seriously injured in the accident,” Mokoena said. A case of culpable homicide is being investigated.

aangemeld by die Mahwelereng polisie, sê woordvoerder, konstabel Sello Leso.

So bietjie goeie nuus...Die Valke en Arende buurtwagte, asook

Alles voel so onwerklik. Ek maak my oë toe dan sien ek jou smile, ek voel jou drukkies en al die liefde en lig wat jy in my lewe gebring het. Jy was en sal al-tyd my baby girl bly. Ek mis jou, en Alex ook. Ons twee sal jou altyd lief hê, my groot oog. Liefde, jou hubby.”

“Ek verwyt of verkwalik niemand nie.

Business Chamber plays important roleMOKOPANE - Chairman of the Mokopane Business Chamber, Piet de Bruyn, says he is positive about business' role in the future development of the town.

De Bruyn says that the Chamber has regular meetings with the Mogalakwena municipality to highlight issues of concern.

Chamber representatives recently met with senior management at the munici-pality and highlighted various concerns relating to the the supply chain manage-ment within the municipality when it comes to the allocation of tenders.

"The municipality said that it would look into the issues raised and provide feedback," says de Bruyn.

De Bruyn adds that local business form a vital part of the town's economy and that the chamber is a non-political organisation that aim to serve the community at large. "In the end, we want to see corruption rooted out and positive economic growth in Mokopane," he says.

Harsh sentences for rapistsLEPHALALE - Andries Kgaugelo Motshegoa (26) (photo right) was sentenced to life in prison in the Lephalale magistrate court for the rape of a 14-year-old girl in 2012 in Shongoane. In a separate case, Ephraim Kwena (45) was sentenced to ten years in prison on Monday in the Lephalale magistrate court. He forced his 44-year-old girlfriend into his room in Witpoort where he assaulted and raped her.

SELEKA – The SPCA and some volunteers took part in an outreach programme in Seleka. Pet owners brought their animals to be dipped and dewormed and received free collars. “We also handed out some new harnesses for donkey owners to avoid sores developing due to the load that their animals have to carry,” says Mariaan Wentzel from the Lephalale SPCA. The next outreach programme will be held on Sunday (22 November) in Shongoane. Volunteers are welcome to contact Mariaan at 079 398 6784.

Care for Seleka’s animals

In the second/third quarter of 2015, the company undertook several special projects in its host communities in line with the company’s Sustainability and Corporate Social Investment policies.

Land Use - Surface Lease AgreementBackgroundA surface lease agreement is an agreement for the use of a specifi c area of land. The land over which Ivanplats requires a surface lease is nominally owned by Government on behalf of resident communities. Ivanplats was granted a mining right by the Department of Mineral Resources to build an underground, mechanized platinum mine in Mokopane. While the mining right automatically gives Ivanplats the right to access the land, a surface lease is benefi cial in regulating matters associated thereto such as compensation. The piece of land on which Ivanplats is building this mine, is used by the people in the adjacent communities for farming and grazing their animals. Consultations with the affected communities and the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform started in 2014, and progresses continually. The communities involved in the surface lease agreement consultations are Tshamahansi (Baloyi, Matjeke, Hlongwane) Ga-Madiba, Ga-Magongoa, Ga-Kgobudi and the Mamashela Community. Once the surface lease agreement has been signed by all affected communities, Ivanplats is also conducting a Livelihood Restoration Programme to assist affected individuals to fi nd the same type or a similar equivalent of livelihood, in an alternative location.

Socio-Economic Development - Social and Labour PlanBackgroundIvanplats’ Social and Labour Plan was approved by the Department of Mineral Resources as part of the approved mining right in 2014.In its Social and Labour Plan Ivanplats makes commitments to its host communities with regard to the following socio-economic development issues: • Recruitment of local labour;• Procurement of local goods and services;• Development of local suppliers and enterprises;• Skills development of employees;• Skills development of people in Ivanplats host communities and,• Local economic development projects.Special Social Projects

BackgroundIvanplats is committed to comply with both the letter and the spirit of the law to create shared value with its host communities.

Graaff het skool gegaan by Laerskool

hartseer tyd.
