A Message from your principal

Catholic schools should stand alongside the very best as educational models. Concern for the spiritual, intellectual, emotional and social lives of our students give us the edge in educating for excellence. Our students grow and learn to serve a purpose larger than themselves as well rounded, well informed and well meaning members of the community. Our Parent Teacher Club provides valuable and needed support for our school’s operational budget. Your participation and patronage in this PTC sponsored auction will continue to keep quality Catholic education an affordable option for our community, as well as support an ethos of continuous improvement. Congratulations and a big thank you to co-chairs Yvette Gil and Winifer MacKinnon and their very able committee for their tireless efforts in ensuring we have another successful and enjoyable evening. The Beatles strike a familiar but resonant chord with “All you need is Love.” In truth that is all we need, because Love is transformational. It is love for our school and community that brings you here tonight. Please know that your love and support go a long way to realize all our dreams for Catholic educa-tion. On behalf of Christ the King Catholic School, thank you. Have a wonderful evening. Gerad Carrier Principal

A MESSAGE FROM YOUR AUCTION C0-CHAIRS Dear Parents and Friends of Christ the King School, Welcome to the 2010 Christ the King Auction, “All You Need is Love”. We’ve all heard this song by the Beatles many times over the years, possibly without really thinking of its meaning. But tonight it is clear to see that no words could ever more adequately describe this evening’s event. We celebrate “LOVE” as the distinctive charisma of Christ the King. Through the love within our Christ the King community, the love of our precious children, school, teachers and faculty, and most importantly the love of God, we are able to work to-gether to make this event happen. We would like to express our love and gratitude to the 2010 Auction committee for their year of selfless hard work in making this auction tonight a success. Tonight is the magic moment when school and parent part-nership make it possible to provide our children with academic excellence and spiritual enrichment. Thank you to all parents, grand-parents, parishioners, friends and faculty who are here tonight in support of our chil-dren and school. We would like to express our sincere thanks to our wonderful families for their loving support and encouragement this past year. We also ask that you show your “LOVE” by supporting those businesses that have supported our school this year. When shopping in their establishment, please pass along a “thank you” from CKS. We count on their support and yours as we strive to make Christ the King Catholic School the Pride of South Tampa. Have a groovy evening tonight. Enjoy the dinner, auction, dancing and fellow-ship, and remember…All You Need is Love!

Peace & Love,

Yvette Gil & Winifer MacKinnon 2010 CKS Auction Co-Chairs

All sales are final. There will be no exchange or refund of items ex-cept if specifically provided for in the donation.

Auction Official. This constitutes the winning bid.

Only an authorized committee member may nullify a bid. No bids may be crossed out or

determine the winning bidder. This decision shall be final. On items where Blind Bid-

ding takes place, the bidder places a hand-written amount on a blind bid slip, the per-

son who registers the highest amount to be paid will be declared the winner of an item.

If there is a tie or if there is heated bidding, the auction co-chairs have the final author-

ity to decide who has the winning bid and to settle any disputes. On a multi-item bid

sheet (i.e someone purchasing a centerpiece, a raffle ticket, or a party spot) all persons

whose bid numbers are on the sheet will be charged for the item.

TAX INFORMATION Tax Information for Patrons of Auction 2010

Charitable Contribution Substantiation and Disclosure Requirements of the Omnibus Revenue Reconciliation of 1993 Federal tax legislation which became effective on January 1, 1994, contains substantiation and disclosure requirements that affect all charitable organizations which are exempt from tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The two areas which now require documentation and substan-tiation of charitable contributions $250 or more and the disclosure of contributions in excess of $750 for which the donor receives a quid pro quo in the form of goods or ser-vices from the charity. The admission (ticket) price for this event is ($70) per person. Of this amount $40 per person is believed to be the reasonable estimate of the fair market value of the din-ner, drinks, entertainment, and services and the ticket price paid per said person is considered a charitable contribution to Christ the King Catholic School and may be claimed as a charitable contribution deduction within the limits of the Internal Reve-nue Code. When a patron of Auction 2010 purchases an auction item for a price greater than the amount reflected as the fair market value listed on the paid receipt they will receive, the difference between the purchase price and the fair market value is believed to be a charitable contribution to Christ the King Catholic School. If the auction item pur-chased consists solely of intangible religious benefits it is regarded for tax purposes to have no fair market value; therefore, the purchase price of such an item should be re-garded as a charitable contribution. When a patron of Auction 2010 purchases an auction item for a price that is less than or equal to the fair market value listed on the paid receipt, the transaction is regarded as simply a purchase not a charitable contri-bution and no portion of the purchase price qualifies as a charitable contribution. All cash gifts to Christ the King Catholic School qualify as charitable contributions as long as the donor receives no direct benefit in return. Gifts of tangible items to Christ the King Catholic School for use at Auction 2010 may also qualify as charitable contributions, although certain restrictions may apply when claiming deductions for no-cash gifts. If the amount of cash donated, or the value of the donated item is $250 or more, the donor is required to have a written acknowledgement as substantiation for the contribution. Christ the King Catholic School will provide such an acknowl-edgement. The written acknowledge will specify the amount of cash distributed of the identity (but not fair market value) of the item donated. Auction patrons are en-couraged to consult their tax advisors as to the accuracy of the information which is being provided and the proper deductibility of their financial participation in the Christ the King Auction 2010.
