Pennies for PatientsKDM students raised $263.09

Pennies for Patients Since 1994, millions of dollars have been raised in pennies and other spare change by more than 10 million elementary, middle and high school students throughout the country. The funds, collected during a three-week period, benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Everyone who participates is a winner!Students across the country are collecting pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters during the Pennies for Patients campaigns benefiting the Society. In the Pennies for Patients campaign, the class collecting the most change in each school receives a pizza party. Prizes such as computers, electronics and sports equipment are presented to the top schools in each area.  The Pennies for Patients campaign began in the Society's North Carolina Chapter in 1995.

Ronald McDonald House CharitiesRMHC makes an immediate, positive impact on children’s lives through our global network of Chapters in 57 countries and regions and through our three core programs: Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. Collecting pop tabs is a great way to teach kids about philanthropy and the importance of recycling, and raise funds to help children and their families at the same time. Some of our Chapters raise thousands of dollars with their pop tab collections.KDM Service Council is collecting tabs from cans for the Ronald McDonald House. They collect pop tabs instead of entire aluminum cans because it's more hygienic to store tabs than cans, and collection and storage is easier.  The program is an easy way for people of all ages to support RMHC and know they are making a difference for families and children. All tabs are to be brought into your child’s classroom. Service council will deliver the tabs to the Ronald McDonald House in May. After the tabs are collected, the local RMHC Chapter brings the collection to local recycling centers, where they are weighed to determine their value (values can vary significantly).  The recycling center then sends the local RMHC Chapter a check for the total value.
