Welcome Kankakee Community College
student athletes, parents, supporters and
fans!
As we begin the 2014-15 academic year
at Kankakee Community College, there
is an energy and excitement accompany-
ing many changes in the past and current
calendar year. We have relocated the South
Extension Center in Watseka, the North
Extension Center is open and houses our
Workforce Services and adult education
programs as well as being the site for our
massage therapy program, the Manufactur-
ing and Industrial Technology Center on Rt.
45/52 is open and the welding, technology,
and other classes are running at capacity.
Plus, we have just received funding for the
construction of an Advanced Technology
Education Center.
Adding to those operational occurrences
is the change in our staff with a new vice
president for instructional and student
success, Dr. Michael Boyd, who joined us
in May, and is already making a difference
in the lives of our students with his leader-
ship of our faculty.
We have been fortunate to watch the
continued success of our athletic teams,
and you see a great deal of pride as you
walk the halls of the college.
The student-athletes of KCC live our mot-
to to “Start here. Finish Anywhere.” It is my
firm belief that education is the key to all of
our life successes, and I remain commit-
ted to our mission to develop leaders. Our
athletic program, and each sport, begin
with the strong dedication of our complete
coaching staff and are supported by the
KCC board of trustees and our community.
As parents and educators, we pledge to
join your efforts to provide encouragement
and support to our student-athletes.
I wish our student-athletes success both
as students and as athletes at Kankakee
Community College. It is an honor to be
part of the Cavaliers family, and I would
like to thank the parents of our student-
athletes, each member of the coaching
staff, and the members of our Cavalier
Club who help to support our athletic
teams. Please join the Board of Trustees,
myself, faculty, staff, and all Cavalier fans
in wishing each of our teams and coaches
a successful season.

Letter From The President

The Cavaliers return seven players from the 2014 team that won the Region IV Championship leading to a 16th consecutive trip to the NJCAA Div. II National Tourna-ment.
“Seven returning players, one transfer and a great group of freshmen should again lead us to another banner season,” said Cavaliers veteran Head Coach Dennis Clark. “I always expect big things from my returning sophomores. I feel they will lead us, along with the talented freshman, toward our 20th Region IV Championship and the opportunity to compete for an NJCAA Division II National Championship.”
The returning Cavs are led by returning NJCAA All-American designated hitter Meghan Gill. Meghan hit .400 with 50 RBI in 2014.
“Meghan will again hit in the no. 4 spot in the lineup,” said Coach
Clark. “I expect her to have another great year,” The Cavs also return catcher Brittany Plimmer who hit .363,
with 9 HR and 46 RBI. “Brittany could be the best catcher I’ve had in 33 years as a head coach. She can hit, run, and has a cannon for an arm.”
Two starting outfielders will re-turn. They are Stephanie Sanderson (All-Region IV last year) who hit .382 with 9 HR and 48 RBI and Courtney Posing who hit .407 with 26 RBI. “These two have great speed and ability to get on base and make many things happen,” said Coach Clark. Other returning players who will contribute are Monet Alexander (2B), Kayla Snider (C/1B) and Mackenzi Spittal (P).
“This group has speed throughout the line-up and they all are good athletes,” said Coach Clark.
