The Blaine Parks and Recreation Department is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to lead summer recreation programs for youth. Enjoy being outdoors and keeping active while making a difference in a young person’s life. Hours and pay vary according to experience and assigned duties. If you are a strong leader and like to work with youth, this is the perfect summer job for you!

Under direction of Program Supervisors and Coordinators, Youth Coaches are responsible for implementing the summer recreational youth softball, t-ball, and soccer programs. Youth Coaches will be assigned one team in each age bracket. The optimal applicant will demonstrate knowledge of youth sports, strong leadership skills, understand the developmental stages of youth, have the ability to motivate and manage youth, and show good judgment and enthusiasm. Training in First Aid provided.

Tentative Dates: June 8 - August 14Tentative Schedule: Monday & Wednesday, 12 pm - 7:30 pm Tuesday & Thursday, 9 am - 3 pm & 5 - 7:30 pm (approximately 25 hrs/week)

Under direction of Program Supervisors and Coordinators, Playground Leaders are responsible for leading playground participants in games, arts & crafts, sports, and other planned activities at a specific site or sites. The optimal applicant will demonstrate strong leadership skills, understand the developmental stages of youth, have the ability to motivate and manage youth, and show good judgment and enthusiasm. Playground leaders will be assigned to the Play-Net Blaine Summer Playground Program. Training in First Aid provided on May 28.

Tentative Dates: June 8 - August 14Tentative Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 8:30 am - 4 pm (approximately 32 hrs/week)

Under direction of Program Supervisors, Park Attendants are responsible for beach supervision (no lifeguard certification), general cleanliness of the park, monitoring the pavilion, boat rental, concessions, parking permits and attending to park users. We have three park attendants working during the majority of the day. The optimal applicant will demonstrate strong leadership skills, good communicator, and show good judgment and enthusiasm. Park Attendants will be trained in all aspects of the park. First aid/AED training is held on May 28. Schedule: Daily 9 am - 9 pm (6 - 8 hrs/day)Dates: June 5 - September 7Hours per Week: 25 - 40

PARK ATTENDANT $10 - $12 per hour Lakeside Commons Park Ages 18 & up

Under direction of the Recreation Coordinator, Summer Fun Playground Leaders are responsible for leading youth in games, arts & crafts, enrichment, sports, and other planned activities at a manufactured housing community. The optimal applicant will demonstrate strong leadership skills, understand the developmental stages of youth, be able to work with a diverse group of children, be a positive role model, have the ability to motivate and manage youth, and show good judgment and enthusiasm. Training in First Aid provided.

Training Dates: May 28, June 5 & 9Program Dates: June 15 - August 7Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:30 am - 2:30 pm (approximately 25 hrs/ week)

RECREATION LEADER, SUMMER FUN $10 - $12 per hour Centennial Square Manufactured Housing Community Ages 17 & up

RECREATION COORDINATOR, SUMMER FUN $14-$15 per hour Centennial Square Manufactured Housing Community Age 18 & up

Under direction of Program Supervisors, the Recreation Coordinator is responsible for program planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Summer Fun program at a manufactured housing community in Blaine. The optimal candidate will have a background in education or recreation, be able to supervise on-site staff, and work with a culturally and economically diverse population. Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership skills, understanding of the developmental stages of youth, ability to motivate and manage youth, and good judgment and enthusiasm. Training in First Aid provided.

Training Dates: May 28, June 5 & 9Program Dates: June 15 - August 7Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:30 am - 2:30 pm (approximately 25 hrs/ week plus planning time) A few evenings may also be required.

Background Checks: All candidates selected for employment must complete and pass a background check.

First Aid Certification: All candidates selected for employment must become First Aid Certified. Training will be provided.
